Insert Text With Syntax Words?
Nov 30, 2010
I am trying to update a table in SQl with a description field. The description may contain syntax words and when it does it I get an Incorrect syntax error.
example - if I insert the string "...with a sweet flavor that is..." The "with" messes me up.

when i copy code from vb.net code window, and paste it in my richtextbox, the color synthax is as it displays in my vb.net code window.. this i want to keep when finding and replacing words. i have the following code to find and replace,
RichTextBox1.Text = RichTextBox1.Text.Replace("Private Sub", "<font color=blue>Private Sub</font>")
but the color syntax of the richtextbox code is lost, looks like a textbox's text.. how do i replace the words and keep the synthax coloring?

here is my code so far:
Public Sub cmdSave_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles cmdSave.Click
Dim i As Integer
[Code].....
when i click the button, i get a error message saying "Syntax error in INSERT INTO statement". as far as i can tell, i have everything i need to insert a new row into the database, and i dont see why this problem is occuring.
item(0) is an autonumber key field, so that should make a new record by itself, and i have declared the input textboxes as the data() array

Is there a simple way to insert a specific word between 2 or more words that of course have spaces?I'm doing if and next and if and next.I have 200 columns of programming for something that it may be simpler to make.So, p.e with the word "and", "Hello world" will be "Hello and world" or p.e. "Hello nice world" would be "Hello and nice and world".Words can also be like "Hello nice world"(doesn't show here,the spaces are "hello nice world" .I don't mind the spaces between to be only one but the words must be separated with the key word and space before and after.

other than GML (Yoyogames.com Game Maker Language), I am new to the coding world. The only "major" project I have completed using VB is a computer calculator that exactly mimics the capabilities of Windows 7's calculator. Yesterday, I began a Chatbot program for my girlfriend. Lol. I have used the instr() function to answer most of the questions or answers which are typed into the textbox1. I find this extremely troublesome because when using the instr() function you cannot say instr(textbox1.

I have created a console application that reads a file and updates a Access database. The Open connection works but i keep getting "Syntax error in INSERT INTO statment" when I try to insert a record.
When I list the INSERT statment I get this
INSERT INTO InventoryUpdLog ( PkgId, CompName, UpdDate, Count )
VALUES ('AMB','E1415 R2011',#4/26/2012#,190)
looks ok to me and if I paste it into a query in Access it works fine.
Private Sub Add_record(ByVal PkgId As String, ByVal CompName As String, ByVal count As Integer)
Dim intICount As Integer
Dim cmd As OleDbCommand
Dim conn1 As OleDbConnection

I have a program which runs with access database, I created a connection via code which I placed in a module. Now, I have this line of codes save a new record [code]But if I clicked the save button, I got an error, I used try catch and got the Syntax error in INSERT INTO statement. I am sure that my database is properly connected. Hope someone helps me figure out what is wrong. By the way, I have a combo box and date & time picker, did I do it correct? I mean in my values code above, I used, cbSex.Text and dtpBday.Text. I found out that if I delete almost all those values and keep only student number, the data saves.

I am trying to execute a command that inserts a row but I keep getting the error "Database error Syntax error in INSERT INTO statement." What am I doing incorrectly? I know for Ole Db refers to the parameters by sequence and I've done in the correct sequence. I left out the ID since it is auto generated could that be causing a problem?

I do not have a lot of experience in vb.net, but I am trying to use OleDB to insert a record with String,string,Yes/no(studentname, number, gender). However when I insert it , there's a exception raised stating that I have invalid syntax for the "insert into" query. I could not spot the error.
Test case:
txtName.Text = "asdasdasd"
txtPhone.Text = "123456789"
rGender.Checked = True
