View 11 RepliesI have a small copy/paste type of program. You put text in the boxes, click copy and it copies it to the clipboard. I have a text file attached to format the text when it is copied. what I want to accomplish is...If I don't fill in every single textbox with text, I don't want that particular field to show when I paste it. Example, I have the layout like below on the text document.
textbox1.
textbox2.
textbox3.
No matter what, when I click copy, the text document is going to copy textbox1,2,and 3. If I only put text in textbox 1 and 3, I don't want it to copy textbox2 if its empty.
I have a simple need to cut and paste stuff to a textbox-including PDF stuff without buying software to convert to text and then paste.
View 2 RepliesI'm making a project and the project consists in: Go to a http, take the html code to a .txt then take out the html tags, and rewrite the .txt with the code without the HTML tags. I've done it all with this code

Public Class Form1
Dim var_semtags As String
Dim var_codhtml As String

View 3 RepliesMy school teacher told us to create a small program. We must use at least 3 textbox, 2 buttons and a webbrowser. He said, that this is an easy project, all we need to do is paste the text from textbox one in a box in the browser. I have spent hours trying to figure it out, but I can't seem to find the box ID. (It has no ID at all). Do you know how to get it's class or how would I paste the text from the textbox to the webbrowser text.
View 6 RepliesFor example this textbox here: url...without clicking and selecting it. Just use a key ex: F5 to paste the text i copied to this any textbox or shoutbox?
View 2 RepliesUrgh, I have spent the last couple of hours on this now. I normally end up finding the answer from a bit of Googling, but not with this one. Bit of a headache.
My questions:How can I catch when a user clicks the dropdown arrow on a combobox and prevent the dropdown list from being displayed.How can I then clear and populate the dropdown list and display it programmatically?
I have one agent program remotely connected to a server over the internet. When you click the dropdown arrow on the agent, it queries the server to determine what needs to be in the dropdown list. It then displays the dropdown list. The comboboxes act as filters for the subsequent comboboxes on the GUI. A delay in displaying the dropdown list is perfectly acceptable while retrieving the data. Initially querying all the possibly entries in the dropdown list is not an option because there are so many! Needs to be comboboxes compared to listboxes as the user may also type an entry that is not in the list.

Using winform w/vb.net.When I have form w/a textbox and one right-clicks on the textbox a context menu pops up w/copy/paste options. How do I disable this from poping up (I want to use the right-click for my one function)?

View 39 RepliesI've written a small application that keeps track of my thesis notes and essentially I have a few textboxes for keywords, ideas and notes. When I type in the textboxes and hit my update button it works fine...when I cut and paste from a text editor into the textboxes and then hit my update button it takes way to long to return control to the form. Is there something I need to do to text that is copied and pasted into a text box before I send it to the database?
View 3 RepliesHow I can check when someone uses the standard paste function via rightmouseclick? I want to check something before the text can be pasted.
View 3 RepliesHere's the code that I have:
TextBox3.Text = ""
WebBrowser1.Document.ExecCommand("Copy", False, vbNull)
TextBox3.Paste()
TextBox1.Text += TextBox3.Text & vbCrLf & vbCrLf 'This code just adds the pasted text from one textbox to another.
Question:
After I install and run the application on my main computer that I coded this app in work, but when I go to transfer/install it onto my laptop, the code will NOT copy and paste from my webbrowser to my textbox?
I have a custom version of a label control (built using a user control). While working in the designer, I want to intercept the setting of the Name property (in the properties panel) and use it to generate the Text property. That is, if I enter "lblFirstName" into the Name property of the properties panel I want to immediately see that the Text property is set to "First Name". Parsing the Name property is not the issue; I can do that.
I have tried to overload/shadow the Name property (since "Overrides" is not allowed) to essentially add this "aspect" to our custom label control but it doesn't seem to hit the Shadowed method at design time. It does hit the Shadowed method at run time if manipulated via code. The point is to avoid double the work as the label text and the label name are essentially the same. The only difference is one is formatted to be human friendly and the other machine friendly.
<System.ComponentModel.Browsable(True),
System.ComponentModel.ParenthesizePropertyName(), System.ComponentModel.DesignerSerializationVisibility(System.ComponentModel.DesignerSerializationVisibility.Visible)>
Public Shadows Property Name As String
[Code] .....
This may be a matter of picking the right attributes. Conversely, if it's an easier alternative, we could allow setting the Text property to set the Name property. I doubt this would be easier since it should also reflect the new name in the Designer.vb code, not just in the label's Name property itself.
I create a calculator in visual basic and I put button from 0 to 9 ... and event click textbox1.text = textbox1 + "1" (to 9) ..it work good .. but if i press key 0 from keybord nothing is hapens ..

I've got a VSTO3 Word addin that makes use of custom ribbons and taskbars, etc.
Now, Office 2010 comes along and there's this nifty new BACKSTAGE concept, which I'd like to hook into. However, from what I can tell, doing it with VSTO requires Vsto 4, which requires VS2010, which isn't an option.
Soooo. I started looking online and have found all sorts of examples of, essentially, piggybacking the backstage XML onto whatever Ribbon xml I define and returning that as the value of GetCustomUI. All good, except if you're using VSTO3, there doesn't appear to be any way to "hook" into the call chain for GetCustomUI. It's all "automagically" handled for you by the OfficeRibbon and RibbonManage classes.
I know I +COULD+ convert the addin to a shared addin and just implement the IDTExtensibility interfaces directly. I'd lose all the vsto goodness (yeah, that's debatable) but I'd gain access to the GetCustomUI call.
Anyone every tried to get access to GetCustomUI +WHILE+ using VSTO though? Is it even possible?
I thought I could create a wrapper class for RibbonManager, but lo, MS has gone and done what looks to be some supreme violation of encapsulation. The RibbonManager implements the nice and easy IRibbonExtensibility interface, and yet, where that interface is passed around, they actually check the passed object to be sure it's of the actual type RibbonManager! Ugh, so much for any kind of wrapper.
I see the DataGridView control has a property "AllowUserToAddRows" that I can turn on or off but what if I want the ability to be context dependent. i.e. I want an event that will fire when the user attempts to add a row in which I can cancel if certain conditions aren't met but I can't find an appropriate event.

I have a text box and want to know if the data enter into is via pressing numeric keys or via a CTRL+V or via mouse right click.
Do not want to use windows message to process for paste/right click paste event.
I'm trying to create something that will intercept requests to open a file or folder in Windows Explorer. So far, the only thing I can come up with is that I need to make a file system filter driver.
View 4 RepliesI have a text box called TxtSearch on my form. The value entered should always be numeric before the search can be done if its any other data type the following Message box is give - Only a numeric value is allowed in this field", MsgBoxStyle.Information, "GCPM.. (Code shown below)
Private Sub TxtSearch_KeyPress(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyPressEventArgs) Handles TxtSearch.KeyPress
If Char.IsDigit(e.KeyChar) = False And Char.IsControl(e.KeyChar) = False Then[code].....
Now, when you copy and paste a String value on the textbox - TxtSearch the KeyPress doesn't work. The TxtSearch doesn't prompt the message and when you click the Search Button the application crashes - dsiplaying an error converting data type varchar to numeric.. What I want to do is if someone uses the copy and paste tool to enter the value in the textbox- TXTSearch and there is a datatype not numeric the message prompt is called ..
I'm attempting to intercept and interrupt mouse events. Lets say I wanted to disable the right mouse button down event, or even the mouse move event. I haven't been able to figure out the interrupting part.
I am using the (I assume pretty widely used) following code for Global Hooking of the mouse.
[Code]...
In the key down event for a text or rich text box:If (e.Control) And (e.KeyCode = Keys.V) Then e.SuppressKeyPress = TrueTo prevent pasting for all text boxes on your form, set form KeyPreview to true and add the above code to form key down event.
View 4 RepliesI have a webbrowser control which I have created a contextmenu for. I have added a paste button and do docbrowser.body.inner.body = clipboard.gettext. The problem with this is when I copy text from a word document and paste it I loose all the formatting. If I remove my context menu and use the default and paste I keep my formatting.
