Interface And Graphics :: Use A Graphical User Interface That Contains A Drag And Drop Form?

Oct 19, 2008

I'm working on a design project where I have to use a Graphical User Interface that contains a drag and drop form. It consists of having a window dropped on a wall. Both of them are images to scale. I would like to know what kind of code I would have to use to show the x and y coordinates of one of the points of my window when dragged so when I drop it, I'm dropping in it on the desired coordinate of the wall.

Interface And Graphics :: How To Prevent Drag'n'drop Between Components

Jan 2, 2009

How can I check if the data in a drag'n'drop event originates from the same component?I've created a component containing two ListViews and the ability to drag'ndrop between them. The problem occurs when a progrem uses more than one of these components, it is possible to drag from one component to another, I don't want that to be possible.[code]I thought the "And (m_DragSource Is lviewSelection Or m_DragSource Is lviewSelected)" in the first if would prevent dropping from other components but it doesn't. How to do this?

Interface And Graphics :: Drag Text From Ie8 And Drop It Onto A TextBox In VB 2008?

Feb 21, 2010

I'm running Windows 7 x 64 and the latest version of VS 2008.I have spent forever trying to get the following VB6 code snippet to work in a VB 2008 Windows Forms application. The VB6 application works like a charm, even on Win 7 x64.Here is the relevant (I hope) VB6 code. It allows me to select text in IE8's browser window and then drag and drop it onto a TextBox called txtLink in a very simple VB6 application.

Code:
Private Sub txtLink_OLEDragDrop(Data As DataObject, Effect As Long, Button As Integer, Shift As Integer, X As Single, Y As Single)

Drag Drop If Object Implements Interface

Sep 2, 2010

I have an interface, for the sake of argument called MyInterface.I Have a Control Class, lets name it "Parent" that implements MyInterface.I have another Control Class that inherits Parent, called "Child".I have a final Control Class lets call it "Container", that accepts dragging the parent onto it.[code]I want to modify this not to only accept Parent, but to accept ANYthing that implements MyInterface. I can't figure out how the heck to get it to work. Even more confusing, if I drag the child onto Container, with the code as it is above(checking to see if a Parent was dropped), GetDataPresent always returns false. I would figure it would work, since Child inherited parent.[code]But it bombs and GetDataPresent returns false whether I dragged a Parent or a Child. I'm being an idiot somewhere..

Interface And Graphics :: How To Procede With An Interface Design Approach

May 18, 2012

I was wondering if I could elicit some tips on how to procede with an interface design approach. That is. What is a good way to go about establishing a "work area" where one can have multiple "floating forms" in this area. Can you have a form which occupies the entire windows desk top and the other forms "float" in this space? the "floating" forms would need to interact with each other where pressing buttons etc on them would affect other forms on the "workspace") Or what would be a good way to start accomplishing that? Or is there a better way to get the same effect?

Interface And Graphics :: Link A Class / Object To An Interface?

Apr 21, 2010

I'm trying to make a .dll that contains a lot of basic functionality that a program can use. Currently i am trying to use interfaces to make a lot of this functionallity independend of the program using it but i hit a snag. The Basic idea is that a programmer will create his own object using the interface discribed in my .DLL file. Then implements those functions as he likes. He can then instanciate a controller (found in the same DLL) and sends his custom object implementing the interface to that Controller. The controller can then be started and will take over all the work. I do not know what type of object is send to the controller and idealy i want to program it in such a fashion that i shouldn't care as long as the object send implements that interface. In code I am trying to achieve the following: (quite simplyfied)

.Dll:
Code:
Public Interface MyInterface '<----Decleration of the interfaceFunction GetData() As Integer
Function SetData(Data As Integer)
end interface

[code]....

this propperly. I know that the second i set the interface adaptor in the Controller VS comes nagging that it can not be converted to a "MyInterface" Class. Obviously i am doing something wrong. I can change the datatype that the controller expects to the "MyController" type but that would completely ruin the whole idea of flexibillity. I am hoping someone sees what i am trying to do and can point out where i made the thinking error.

Interface And Graphics :: User Contols Contain Webbrowsers That Autorefresh Every 15 Sec (not Under My Control)

Aug 29, 2011

I am developing an app that has a treeview on the left in panel1 of a split container. When you click in a node it loads a user control into a tabcontrol that is in panel2. Some of the user contols contain webbrowsers that autorefresh every 15 sec (not under my control). I can successfully remove a tab by a contextmenu but I can still hear the clicking sound of the webbrowsers refreshing. Not sure what to do to completely remove the usercontrol. Treeview control code for one node: there rest are basically the same

Code:
Dim tabcount As Integer
tabcount = TabControlMain.TabCount

[CODE]...

Code to remove a tab and all tabs:

Code:
Private Sub RemoveToolStripMenuItem_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles RemoveToolStripMenuItem.Click
TabControlMain.Controls.Remove(TabControlMain.SelectedTab)

[CODE]...

I also originally had this setup to work without the tabcontrol and just load the usercontrol into panel2 of the split container. Each time a new node was selected from the treeview I would have SplitContainer1.Panel2.Controls.Clear() to remove the current usercontrol. I would still hear the clicking of the old usercontrol.

HangMan Game - Project That Has A Graphical Interface ?

Apr 20, 2009

I am working on this hangman project that has a graphical interface where the user has 2 options either guess the entire phrase or use a combo box to guess letters. I have the guess text box working but I can't for the life of me figure out why it is not working correctly with the combo box. The following is my entire code for the project. I have it setup to show me which phrase it randomly selected but when ever I pick a letter in that phrase it doesn't fill it in or anything. I'm thinking it is an issue with my loops.

I highlighted the section where the problem is occurring.

Public Class frmHang
Dim strWord(10) As String 'array of answer cchoices
Dim strAnswer As String 'the correct answer

Interface And Graphics :: Creating Outlook Style Navigation User Control?

Feb 3, 2010

I believe that this is in the correct forum due to it being about creating an interface item, but if I am wrong then let me know and I'll try and bring this thread to the attention of the mods to be moved to a more appropriate forum. I am currently trying to create a generic navigation control with a similar style to the outlook navigation bar. I have figured out how I would be able to dynamically create the bottom part where you select the menu option, but I'm struggling to figure out how I would be able to create the top part, which can contain any user control that the developer would want.

So basically what I'm trying to figure out is, is there a way to allow for a developer to add controls to a specific area of your user control? If there is a way of achieving that then if anyone knows how to do this;In ASP.Net you have the login controls and with one of them, you are able to have different views depending on whether the user who is viewing the web page is logged in or not. Is there a way of achieving this in VB.Net for a user control that could be set up so that I could have the developer able to switch the view in the designer to show them the view for when a specific navigation option has been selected.

The one thing that I have thought of that could possibly cause a problem is having the capability of knowing when one of the user controls has been clicked, while I haven't figured this out exactly, I believe I should be able to achieve this by having an event for the navigation user control that provides the developer a reference to the control.

While I would hope that I have explained what I'm thinking well, its before my first coffee of the morning so I might have missed out some detail which would help someone to help me if I have then please let me know and I'll provide any details required. Also if what I'm envisioning is Pie in the sky, then let me know and I'll just have to make a base which I would just have to make a more bespoke system.

Launch Legacy GUI Application Without GUI From VB (hide Graphical Interface)

Aug 20, 2010

I have a legacy application that has an interactive graphical user interface, but also periodically checks for files in a directory and reacts to the files. I want to launch the application from a VB program, but not see the GUI (i.e., just let the file interface do it's thing). I really don't want to see the application running on the desktop at all (e.g., no windows, nothing on taskbar), the only evidence would be if I checked task manager I'd see it running.

Obviously this app would be ideally a service, but that's not where we are and I can't change it so I'm trying to simply not see the GUI.

I've seen the ProcessStartInfo.CreateNoWindow and WindowStyle = hidden flags but they don't hide the GUI of the legacy app.

again launch the legacy app (actually an unmanaged C++/MFC app) from a VB managed admin app.

Upgrading Software Written In VB To Include More Graphics/controls/indicator For User Interface?

Feb 18, 2011

I have been given a project to update software written in Visual Basic. The software and some files are enclosed in a folder and was written 3 years ago. I have no clue what to do. All I have been asked to include more controls. The user interface allows user to select three processes by clicking on the buttons on user interface. The new requirements is to add two more buttons. There is not much information so I have to use only the resources available. When I tried to open the project, visual studio prompted to convert the project so its compatible with current version. I could open the project but dont know what to do from there. Please guide me towards the right direction. If the project folder is required please advise me how to attach it too.
