I want to deploy win forms application from my pc (win-xp) to my server (win2008 server). My application is consumes web service on server and a dll in ..indebug directory (which is added to GAC on both systems). application deployed succesfully on server throug vs2008 ClickOnce. but when i try to launch application from my pc, an error occured.
error message is:Invalid uri: the uri scheme is not valid.

I was wondering if its possible for VB to display all available COM ports that are open. he reason that I ask this is because this program will be run on various computers where the COM port will not always be the same. I have a text box now that the user can choose which com number he/she wants but if the wrong one is entered, the program crashes rather than displaying an error message. It would also be nice for the system to show which available com numbers there are

The data that gets parsed out are fed into a more formal local SSRS report, and that's about all you need to know.
What I am interested in fixing is the situation where a date is invalid and can't be converted into a DateTime struct. The date format from the report is "MMM-dd-yy" (e.g. "Feb-30-10"). The date strings need to be fixed before being shown in the formal report. I've seen this done two ways in my time as a developer, and I want to come up with a cleverer way of doing it (if there isn't a built-in way I don't know about).The first bad method (I can't believe I'm even showing you!):

Now I pick a card and the computer picks a card and it displays the winner but then immediately it sends me to the coding highlighting lblcomp.text += Val(0.5,1, or 4) saying "Invalid Cast Exception was Unhandled" "Conversion from string "" to type 'Double' is not valid.

this is my very first posting and I must say I am desperate. I have a VB assignment due in 2 days and I am so lost. I have written a code to draw some graphic, just a basic house, tree, sun etc. I have also written a code to magnify said graphics which were all the specifications of my Assignment 1 part A. Now for Part B I am being asked to extend my program so that: A - My graphic can be drawn using different colour schemes designed by me but chosen by the user B - My graphic or an appropriate part of it can be animated around the picture box if the user chooses to do so. I would like to set a style for an MDI WinForms application in .NET (mix of C# and VB.NET). I would like all panels and forms to be of a certain color. I would like textboxes to be of a certain color when readonly and of a different color when NOT readonly. I don't want to use defaults. Any pointers on how I can make this GLOBAL for any Form that is developed for this application? Am looking for a way so I don't have to do this logic in every form I create.
PREFERABLY: Don't want to switch to using any third-party tools. Would like to stick with just WinForms and standard .NET libraries.
I am having problems with a credit card validation program in vb.net. The code I have takes in the number and selects the correct card I want but it always outputs "invalid" and never "valid". If some one could look at the program or give me a working credit card validation program

I kept getting an invalid "Invalid length for a Base-64 char array". It was then I realised that the string was getting truncated and that the IE Explorer had a size limit for the number of charaters being passes as a querystring.So I think I need to go the route of posting it.But not sure how to go about it.

Got a strange one and I know it is something silly but I can't see it for anything I have a DLL created in VB.net (No I can't change it! :-)) and am calling it from C#. The problems come at the point the object is created in C# and I get the message that it has "some invalid arguments".
The constructor code in the DLL is as follows:

It is happy with the first line but it gives the error message ("some invalid arguments") on the second line. I have also created a secondary project in VB.net and called the DLL and it works fine there.

I am attempting to write some interface code for a piece of hardware. Because the hardware requires use of 12 control lines, I believe the parallel port is the easiest connection method. After some research, I have discovered that inpout32.dll is the most efficient solution with only two commands to worry about (inp32() and out32()). I have downloaded the dll and attempted to place it in my code using both dim and declare statements. The file resides in the root level of the project folder as well as another copy in the windows directory. No matter how I try to call the dll it gives me errors stating that libraries were expected and that the dll does not exist.
