The problem is that, when I call the "SetStatusBarText" sub from another thread, InvokeRequired is True (as it should be), but then my threads stall on the Me.Invoke statement - pausing execution shows them all just sitting there, not actually invoking anything.

I am using a 3rd part dll file (SolidWorks EModelView.dll, COM file) that has a version of 9.2.0.128. When I add it to the resources for the application, however, the AxInteropEModelView.DLL and InteropEModelView.DLL references show a version of 9.0.0.0. When I install the application on a client machine and try to run it, the application says it cannot find AxInteropEModelView.DLL version 9.2.0.128!

I have been trying to write code that asks the user for the size of an array , and then takes inputs from the array. They are characters A-E... I had problems with treeview methods, but when I run them using invoke method everything is ok. But I still have one problem. When I load the form for the first time, everything works fine. But, when I then close the form (me.dispose, me.close), and load it once again, when Filesystemwathcer start the procedure i have an exception "invoke or begininvoke cannot be called on a control until the window handle has been created" trying to run a treeview.invoke method?

I know how to invoke, safely, the control from which it was not created from a thread. there are threads being processed in a threadpool, all of which calls an "agent" (which is a notifier to raise an event back to the UI to then increase the progressbar). an "agent" is set as a property in a State object, which is then passed into a method which will be executed on the ThreadPool. so, I invoke on the UI the method to update the progressbar, but the bar does not seem to update at all (screen frozen) and it takes a very very long time for it to execute. without threading, no problem.

For the numerical integration procedure I want to use some procedures in nr.com. The problem is that these are programmed in C++ and they uses functors to pass a function to the integration method. How can I do this in VB 2010?
I want to initialize the function (i.e. set a=1,b=0 for function y(x)=a*x+b) and then pass the function to the integration method. Then when the integration method call the function it only calls the function with one parameter (i.e. x since a,b is already set)
What is the best way to do this in VB2010?I want to make a general integration method where I can pass any single valued function and integration limits.
I have just started using VB, and from what I have found so far it seems like the tools you have is
- to us a delegate for the function
- to use a lambda expression for the function
- send a pointer/adressOf
- to create a function class/structure and submit this to the function
As for now I am most inclined to create a function-class. But I am not really sure how.F.ex. I make different classes for each "uniqe function" I want to integrate, but how can I pass them to the integration function when I need to specify the argument type in the integration-function-call?This seems like a basic problem which applies to many Math operations, so I think it would be very useful to clarify this.

Is it possible to execute some sort of code to determine whether or not it's a good idea to call Invoke? I dunno what you would do once you'd found out you can't but it could be useful for detecting some dead locks (like the one I have a the moment).
