Keeping A Text / Rtb / Label Displaying At End Of Text
Sep 15, 2008
My application outputs log text every so often and I need the user to be able to see the latest text at all times. I've tried a label, a text box and a rich text box, but I can't figure out a way to show the bottom-most text at all times.
I have 5 textboxes embedded in a datagrid that require a date format (mm/dd/yy), but can be left empty if user doesn't have date.User can poplute these textboxes for multiple records and hit submit button. On the submit i loop through the grid. If dates are populated AND they are in the correct format then I call a stored procedure that inserts the record into a table. If any of the dates that are populated in the textbox is not a date or in the incorrect format I need to display error message in a label.I got all this to work, but if it throws error message all the data in the grid is wiped out.How can i keep data in each textbox and still display the error message?
my code below, though it didnt work. i want to display text on label if the colors of label on anoda form is orange.correct me where am wrong. or advice better way to do this.
If Main1.Label15.BackColor = Color.Orange Then Label2.Text = "1" And Label4.Text = "N5,000" ElseIf Main1.Label14.BackColor = Color.Orange Then
I want to read from a text file and display it in a label. However, when I do that, I see that there is no word wrapping. In the sense, a whole paragraph is displayed in one line and the next one in the next line and so on. Can some one please tell me how to read text from a file and make it display as it is (lines as they are)? I am using the following code right now:
I'm building a program in which it asks for your name and age and determines a ticket price based upon these details. I want it to show the person's name, then their age, (jump down a line) then their ticket price, and then it jumps down a line to show the next person's name, age and ticket price. Issue is, when it's meant to jump down to show the next person, it just completely deletes the last person's details.I'm using this line of code:
The code above is what I am using to add the Value of Label 1 (Pizza Total) and Label 2 (Drinks Total), however it seems that in the final total it doesn't appear to add the value of Label 2.
I have a form that I am loading text (strings) from a database into a label.text (so the text from the database shows up into the label) I have done this code in a class that keeps all my database stuff seperate.
Public Function getQuestions() As List(Of String) Dim question As New List(Of String) objConnection.Open() objReader = objcommand.ExecuteReader
[CODE]...
Within the form that the label is in I have done this code
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Label1.Text(db.getQuestions().ToArray) End Sub
I am basically making a quiz, so that when the form loads, question 1 is on there is 4 possible answers. You then press next button and it goes to the next question.
I am having trouble adding label.text, datetimepicker.text and ComboBox1.Text into listview1 box.I have set up multiple columns, one for the label, one for the date and one for the combo box text. All i have done is:
I've been writing a weight program for flooded pressure vessels and I'm having trouble retrieving the data from the text files I've been saving. I know how to write the data to the text file, but retrieving it with OpenFileDialog is not so easy for me.The user has individual text boxes that they input strings or numbers into and when they save the file, each text box input is written to one line in the text file. For example, the first text box is for the username, therefore the first line of text that is saved is the person's name, the second text box is the customer, thus the second line in the text file is the customer name, and so on.
(Actually, the first line of text in the saved file designates whether English units were used or Metric units because when the user retrieves the saved file, English units will open one form and Metric units will open a separate form, so some If...Then statement will need to occur).I need to be able to read the first line, have either my "EnglishForm"form open or my "MetricForm" form open, and then have each subsequent line of text be displayed in their corresponding text boxes. I know I need to use ReadLine or LineInput, but I don't have a clue what to do.Assuming the syntax I've displayed below would just magically work (if only life were that easy), it would look something like this
If FirstLineOfTextInFile = "English" Then EnglishForm.Show() ElseIf FirstLineOfTextInFile = "Metric" Then[code]....
And so on...I read a lot of articles from the MSDN library and exhausted each link that I've looked through from Google and Bing, but most only retrieve data from the file to a single text box through some loop or streamreader and don't take into account multiple forms.
What happens here is when I click on anyone of the radio buttons the text box score sets the value to either 0,1,2,3,4 but when I go the next case it goes back to 0 instead of keeping the value. I tried many different techniques while going about this none seem to work.
I would like to make a simple code that counts the top three most recurring lines/ text in a txt file then saves that line/ text to another text file (this in turn will be read into AutoCAD's variable system).Forgetting the AutoCAD part which I can manage how do I in VB.net save the 3 most recurring lines of text each to its own text file see example below:
Text file to be read reads as follows:
APG BTR VTS
[code]....
The VB.net program would then save the text VTS to mostused.txt BTR to 2ndmostused.txt and APG to 3rdmostused.txt?
I am retrieving text from a rich edit control in an external application. The text is formatted to look something like this: Output: All is well. I'm retrieving the text using :
I made an application that searches for an text file and copy it toc: est. But when is find multiple files i cant copy it because it will overwrite the file in c: est *.txt.Is there a way i can copy a file and Keep the origional file name?[code]...
I have a label that reads a random line from a text file and that string becomes the text for the label.
Now the problem; the label will only work if it is clicked because the event handler is click. What I need is this to work automatically at startup. In other words, it should change the label's text to the random string of the text file on startup of the application.
I cant seem to find any link or topic regarding my problem. I have 2 forms in a project, form one has labels and adjacent combobox while the other form (form 2)has textboxes with adjacent combobox. I am supposed to change the text property of the labels using textbox entry from form 2 and add/delete/change combobox contents in fom 1 using entries combobox at form 2.
I would like to know if there was a way to loop through all the checkboxes on a form and if the checkbox is checked then I need it to copy the text from the checkbox and the label. Thera are 23 of these labels with two checkboxes for each.I need to be able to paste this in notepad and have it formated as such
Public objword As New Word.Application objword.Documents.Open(FileName:=ofilename)
^ Showing the declaration of the word document that i wish to edit.
Dim oDoc As Word.Document objword.Visible = True oDoc = objword.ActiveDocument oDoc.Range.Text = codes(j, 1) & " " & codes(j, 2)
This gets the document and adds text into it, exactly what i want it to do. But it replaces the whole document. I just want it to add text at the start of the document. Not replace the whole document.
I am wondering if there is a simple way to make the text to speech occur after the updating of label.text
If I have the following:label.Text = "words words" voice.Speak(label.Text)
I would like the label on the form to display "words words" before it speaks. I'm a beginner with vb, and the only thing I could come up with was to use a timer. Just wondering if there's a simpler/more sophisticated solution.
I have this problem but I already simplify the code as below:Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
Label1.Text = "hello" System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(5000) 'MessageBox.Show("hahahaha") Label1.Text = "world" End Sub
What I'm trying to achieve here is, after I click the button, the label1.text should change to hello, and after that to world. But I couldn't achieve that. Instead when I click the button, it just paused for 5 second and displayed world.System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(5000) The code is just a dummy for a loop that I have.

I am new to the forums and just started to learn vb.net. Currently I am making a project that require a lot of text. Since I would need over 20 labels and do not want to hide every single one, is there a way to place text on a specific place on form through coding. Then, I could just make it a sub and easily hide the text and reveal it
This is the only way I know how to obtain the info I need for this equation but if generated again with no input from the textboxes I get an error. Is there anyway to bypass this if its generated a second time with no inputs?
Is there an effecient way to give one label the ForeColor, BackColor and Text of another one of 3 possible labels? I need to do this frequently for a dozen labels in a windows form.
I am using a label to display a song for an mp3 player. I wanted to scroll the text inside the label for anything that is longer than the label width. I figured out the width of the label and if the width of the text inside the label is longer. But I have no idea how to turn this into subtracting parts/pixels of the text currently displayed and how to append the subtracted parts to the end of the new text.
Sub f1timer2tick() Dim g As Graphics = f1l2.CreateGraphics Dim s As SizeF If f1l2.Text.Length > 19 Then
I am making a simple form which has multiple hidden panels and quite a lot of text on it.The form has 7 panels with 2 labels (or would you recommend I use text boxes?) per panel, which I was going to set to a specific line from the text file. My rationale was that if I wanted to edited the label's text I only had to go to the text file.
basically i need to change the text of a label where the name of the label comes from the value of a variable. So, for example,
Dim x as String = "lblTarget" Dim y as String = "Target Text"
In this case the text of "lblTarget" would need to be come "Target Text". Basically, the label that is named the value of variable x would need to take on the text of variable y.
Is there any way to detect if the text in a label is longer than the label itself (assuming autosize is set to false)? I want to trim the text in a label so the last line is a finished sentence (everything after that sentence is removed). I hope you understand what I mean.
I want to go from this:"Hello. This is a test string. Most test stri..."
