Listbox Item Exist Validation......ignore Case?

I have written the code below to check and see if the text the user entered into the txtbox already exists as an item in a listbox before adding the new item. This works well; however, if say "Fish" exists in the listbox but the user entered "fish" in the textbox, the item is added to the listbox. I do not want this because the item already exists. How can I modify my code so that the comparison is not case sensitive?

I'm having issues with finding something in list, and removing the item, ignoring the case of characters in string.
The code goes:
Dim listItems As New List(Of String)
Dim pattern As String = "AbC"
Dim array() As String
array = {"ABC", "abc"}
listItems.AddRange(array)
Here I'd like to remove all items from listItems, that are abc, no matter what case single characters of item are, including mixed case items. So in this example, every items should be removed
listItems.Remove(listItems.Find(Function(r) r = pattern))
If I change pattern to match the case of item, then item #2 gets removed:
pattern = "abc"
listItems.Remove(listItems.Find(Function(r) r = pattern))
How can I find item in listItems, ignoring the case characters in pattern?

I am having problums with Ignore Case in searching. I got a checked listview and a listbox, it searches and fines just the exact word.

what is the fastest way to check if Item ID exist in the database?
From what i have done, i have an excel file uploaded to datagridview, then each itemID is retrieved line by line, then accessed the database to check if ItemID exists.
Is there a way to retrieve the whole column of itemID and then query it to MSSQL2000, then display the itemIDs that does not exist.

What i need is, if a item in a listbox Doesn't exist, it needs to remove it from the other.
In the pic i have attached. Basically If it doesn't exist in Listbox2 then it needs to be removed from Listbox1 and tell the user which one has been removed.
i.e Test 02 doesn't exist. So messagebox would show "test02 has been removed" then remove it from listbox 1
It probably something simple thats sitting in the back of my mind, but for the life of me can't figure it out lol

I want to select one item in drop down list in ASP.NET written with VB.NET - I have values and texts in listbox like this:

etc...
But values coming from other place in upper case... VOLVO, AUDI..
This code:
dropdownlist.FindByValue("CAPITAL")
Is not working and giving null for Volvo..

How someone would select an item from a list box and click a button and have that item go into another listbox with it's price? I seem to be stuck on this part.

I have 2 listboxes on my form.Listbox 1 - populated with "available" field namesListbox 2 - populated with "selected" field names.There cannot be the same field name in both listboxes - it's either one of the other.The logic I was going to apply was to populate Listbox 1 with every field name ... and then as I populated Listbox with the field names which the user has already selected, remove the corresponding item from Listbox 1.

Just want to ask this. I have a jQuery that move listbox item to another listbox. An its working fine the item was remove. Sample: I remove item in listbox A and it was added to listbox B. But here is now the problem, when I tried to check each item in listbox A, I noticed that all items that was removed was still there.
