I have a Dialog which I'm calling via Loading.Show()Can I lock the position and location to the parent form? In such a way so if the parent is minimised or moved, the child will stay centred to the parent?
I was using ShowDialog() but this obviously stops the parent from being accessible. This is being used to display a progress gif. (Child is 50% opacity)
I know generally it is not the best solution for a child to handle an event of parent. Take this for example; Mainform loads UserControlOne, UserControlOne handles all UserControlOne needs to. How ever we need a MenuStrip/ToolStrip. MainForm does not need to know much about what UserControlOne is doing. Other then receive some information on a statusbar. Right now events are controlling this.
The menustrip/toolstrip need to be able to speak to UserControlOne, for example when buttons are clicked on the strips. Would you; Allow the child to add a handler to capture the parents event? Move the MenuStrip/ToolStrip/StatusStrip all to UserControlOne so we can ignore all this event hassle? My Major concern with this is now we have taken all the head ache away from MainForm and crushed it into UserControlOne. Any suggestions?
I have an MDI form with child forms which I open on it. The following statement in each form's load event places a child form in the location I want:
Me.Location = New Point(0, 136) I have several of these working. However, I have one form for which this statement does not work. It opens spread out over the entire parent form. Also, there is a border at the top with min, max, and close buttons even though the form has no border. This form has a picture box on it, if that means anything. why this child form does not open in the specified location?
i create StudentForm as my mdi child form, what i suppose to do to let user unable to move my mdi child form to other location? how to make it in static location? Private Sub StudentToolStripMenuItem_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles StudentToolStripMenuItem.Click
StudentForm.Show() StudentForm.MdiParent = Me End Sub
In one of my apps I'm using MDI childs so the user only has one screen. There's only one MDI child open at any time, it is maximized and all control option (controlbox, minimize and maximize buttons) are turned off, so to the user it seems there is one program with one screen. In the parentform I'm using devexpress' RibbonBar for the menu.
When I open a new child, the uppermost part of the childform (about 15px) is not shown, it's put under the Ribbonbar. If I resize the parentform however, the childform ofcourse changes dimensions as well because it is maximized and this somehow causes it to shows like it's supposed to.Is there any way to invoke this behaviour programmatically so the location of the child form is correct from the beginning?
I have a Midi form with controls I always want to be displayed even when child forms are open. I can position the location of the child forms when the project is first opened with no issues. The problem I have is if more than 3 child forms are open and I enter the middle form one of the others is no longer visible. Me.LayoutMdi(MdiLayout.Cascade) will reorder all the forms but it starts at location(0,0). Have tried the other options available with midilayout and they all do the same thing
I have a MenuStrip with File > New, Open, Save, Exit located in a parent form, and a RichTextBox located in a child form. The problem I'm running into is concerned with the destination of the file elected from "Open" and the save. When a user selects their file from "Open", I need it to open the child form and put the text into the RichTextBox.I also need the program to be able to "Save" from a child form, whether it's been brought up via "New" or "Open".
i have created two forms A and B when button in form A is clicked B is invoked when B is running its not possible to work on A until i close form B. How can i work on A without closing B
Basically,I had a button in my form1,when I click it,then form2 will be display...Now I would like to lock form2 until a button in form2 had been clicked, then only I can do anything in other forms...I means form2 must be closed before I can remain to form1.
I have my main form then a progress bar form that is shown when the program is running. I simply want to keep the progress bar form on top of the other form and make the other form so it can't be changed.
I've tried form2.showdialog, but that stops the code in the main form from running so it's no good.
form2.show(me) just keeps form2 ontop of form1
me.topmost in form2 does the same as the last thing
setting the form1.enabled = false isn't something I want to do since you can't even move the form when it's like that
So really I'm at a complete loss here
also how can I get the progress to start in the center of form1? There is a setting in the form properties but is doesn't seem to work.
how to lock or suspend the form when i call another form and until that is finished this form should be locked.example: i got frmAddEditClient form and frmViewClients as another form, now i got list of clients in frmViewClients and i will select a client i would like to edit the client profile ( for which fuction is defined in frmAddEditClients) so on click of btnEdit in frmViewClients form i place code to [code]now i got everything working fine but i shud make the frmViewClient form to lock so that untill edit operation is done user should not change anything i.e is not selecting other ClientID. in the frmViewClient form.Once edit is done frmViewClient is unlocked and then clientId is refreshed.
recently I've been searching for a way to disable the screen background and give focus only to my loaded form
for example
my form loads a "enter password" box, and I would like the screen to lock not sure how to describe actually, but I can show you a example of how UAC does it
My software has a main form with two panels. One panel (pnlToolbar) has the navigation controls. The second panel (pnlSubForm) holds the sub-form as selected by the user from the navigation controls. There is a sub-sub-form which is called using the following code
I want to lock my form to be full screen, and not allow the user to move it. For the form, I set
[Code]...
The form is full screen, but I can shift the location. I do have a dual screen system. The application goes full screen on the left most screen. This does this inside the development environment and using the EXE. What am I missing? I thought Locked is suppose to prevent the form from moving.
I'm creating an application that uses an MDI container to create a sort of desktop style for my form with a group of icons docked to the left hand side. The rest of the form is the desktop area that I want all windows to open in.If I use the standard File-New option that is provided by VB as a default for the MDI container this works fine and a child window is loaded. If I use similar code from one of the icons this also works fine.y problem is that one of my child forms is a search panel and when I double click on one of the results I want a window to open, but as an MDI child. However, this doesnt happen. When I open the window it opens as a completely separate window and isn't docked within the MDI parent. It also appears on the task bar as a separate application.
I am using MVC3 and EF 4.1 (Oracle DB). Let's suppose I have:
Public Class Parent Public Property Id As Integer Public Property Name As String
[code]....
I want to retrieve all parents from the database and for each parent I can access its children.I want to do the following:
Dim firstParent = (From q In db.Parents Select q).First() For Each child In firstParent.Children 'Do something Next
The problem is that I would like to enumerate the children from the youngest to the oldest. Is it possible without the client-side sorting? If yes then how can I achieve that? I know how I could achieve what I want with an SQL query, but I cannot make it work with LINQ...
EDIT:Since this seems not to have a solution in my case and sorting everytime I request data is not an option, maybe there is something I can do when I insert the data to the database? I do not have a control on which order EF saves items to the database when I call db.Save(), but maybe there is some syntax I could use to require ordering based on some property.
i make a parent and children form and when i show children form and drag into parents form , when parents is little to show the children form , parents form enables the scrollbar and then show the chilren form better , how can i do something that avoid this status ( don't show scrollbar into parents form when the children form is bigger than it)?
How can I toggle capslock? Visual basic 2005. Windows XP. I'd like to capslock on when the form load. This code doesn't work: Public Class Form1 Private Declare Sub keybd_event Lib "user32" (ByVal bVk As Byte, ByVal bScan As Byte, ByVal dwFlags As Long, ByVal dwExtraInfo As Long) Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Call keybd_event(System.Windows.Forms.Keys.CapsLock, &H14, 1, 0) Call keybd_event(System.Windows.Forms.Keys.CapsLock, &H14, 3, 0) End Sub End ClassThe error is: PinvokeStackImbalance was detected.
1. I have a program and I want it, when it's lunched it comes at the center (I done that already) now what I want is to lock it at the center and could not be move all around the screen.
2. The other thing is that in my program I have a Webbrowser and the images are not showing at all. To make the picture visible I have to right click the image and click SHOW IMAGE. Till yesterday the image was showing.
Sub RosterItem(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal item As agsXMPP.protocol.iq.roster.RosterItem)
If I look at all the attributes of item declared above, I can find the account the rosteritem was sent to under that parent tab.. but I can't do item.parent.parent.to.user to get to it. How can I get the parent item's parents' information?
Note: I am working with Visual Studio 2010 Professional. Note: There are a lot of MDI Child posts, but none (that I have found) that apply to my scenario... Scenario I have an MDI form with a UserControl docked at the top. The UserControl is for navigation and is ~50 pixels in height. When I show a child form with its WindowState property already set to 'Maximized', the child form shows maximized in the MDI parent, but behind the UserControl.
