I have a text file that is laid out like this: [code] I have created a login system using that text file that involves the contents being imported into an array split by a comma.I need the people to be able to change their passwords without affecting the other lines but have no idea how to get it done. I have tried myself but it is hopeless.

I am currently working with VB.net 2005. I am trying to create a login form and use a text file as a database to login. The part login form is fine but i can't connected to the text file. When i use my coding with a database such as access or mysql is work fine.

My problem(s) are that the arrays are getting an extra value ;eg length = 3 instead of 2 (which is specified in the text files), so I end up with a 3rd value "Nothing". This is bad because someone could login without a user/password.My other problem is that the arrays error in the msgbox. Using ToString() results in "System.String[]". How can I fix this?
I would like to encrypt login password and store it inside a text file. But I have no idea how to encrypt it. Can someone show me an example of code so that i can get an idea of how to go about it ?

Basically, it works improperly when try to log in on one web-site (Forex Trading Social Network | Online Forex Trading Forum and Social Networking Site). I am working with Visual Studio 2010 Professional. I created a simple WebBrowser trying to access the indicated web-site. The problem begins. Well, the website loads, but when you go to the login page (Forex Trading Social Network | Online Forex Trading Forum and Social Networking Site) and try to log in, it doesn't work. I mean, when I enter the login details the login page just refreshes itself and the login wasn't proceed. The same login page appear with every login attempt. View 1 RepliesHow it works is the user registers their details on one form which will append those details to the end of the 2 text files that are holding the data.At the moment this hasn't been implemented so we're just doing this manually.Anyway, after that the user can "login" inputting a user name and password into 2 text boxes and the program looks for those details in the text files that they just registered.I want the programme to read this by using "readline" in 2 text files and comparing what they've written in the text box with the corresponding text file and then checking whether those 2 words are on corresponding lines in the different text files, and so ensuring the user has put in the right username and password.
As I have average knowledge of vb.net and reading and writing to text files is new to me, I haven't really been able to debug it properly. But I had one idea to get the program to add an integer value at the beginning of each line and then get the program just to read the first character of each line and check if that was the same. But then I realised It ended up not having anything to do with the text boxes and I didn't know how to compare line by line anyway so It was pretty much pointless, but I'll include it in the code anyway.

I'm working on a pretty simple project, just a WebBrowser app which is tailored for Webmail. I'm working on an OWA portion, and OWA normally doesn't allow the textfields on the Login page to be auto-filled. Is there a way I can force this? Search through the OWA login page code, find the fields, then fill in the fields with preset/saved data?
View 6 RepliesOk, so today I wasted a bit of time looking for ways to use a text file to save login information. Basically, there are two fields, username and password, and two buttons, sign up and log in. When you click the log in button, I want it to verify the information entered in the fields, and when you click sign up, I want it to add the information to the file. It doesn't seem that difficult, but I'm have a lot of trouble finding a way to do it. I would be very grateful if I could find assistance with this on these forums.
P.S. If it was my decision it would obviously be using a database, but for this particular program I need to be using text files.

Basically I want to grab the ID of the sign in button (the name/id is SI) and click it. I've tried RaiseEvent(Click) and Click() but neither work...I'm not sure about the syntax and how it works in general....I don't even know if I'm doing it right.
I created a SQL DB named MainDB.mdf and a small VB 2010 application with some forms and datasets.Everything was working OK until i got a new computer and re-installed Visual Studio 2010 and SQL server 2010 on it. I copied my DB from the old to the new computer and also copied by VB 2010 project to it. I used Windows Authentication to connect to the DB in the old computer and also in the new one, i am using different Windows user account names though.
I was able to connect to the DB in the new computer in the Server Explorer section, i created a new connection string to the DB and i can seed there is data in the tables. When i run my VB 2010 application created in the old computer get error:
"Cannot open database "MainDB" requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'D630Admin'."
I need to get rid of that error and be able to add/mod/del data from my DB using my VB application as i used to.

It is simply a "Y" in the road. If they are Company A, then I want to send the username and password over to that website and log them in as if they typed it in there. If they are Company B, then the same thing but with a different website. I do not know the term for this, so the google results are not very pretty.I can not do this with a query string (not that I'd want to anyway) as I do not want the username/pw to be visible.Here is the other weird thing. This can be done via a simple HTML <FORM> and Submit button as I have tested it. But I want to do it all in VB.NET code. How is it that it is possible with some simple HTML but not possible in VB.NET? I guess it could be a security thing, right? What do the good guys like us do when we legitimately just want our employees to go to one login page, enter their username/pw, and then (based on their username) send them to either pageA.aspx or PageB.aspx which receives their username/pw that they only entered once before on the first page?

- The "pin" (username) box on the site doesn't have an ID. (Can't use getelementbyid)
- The picture doesn't have an ID either

It works great however, I need the user to be able to set their own password using a registration form with the details being stored in a xml file. There are no security concerns with the password being stored in a text file as it's a mock login screen.
