Make A Form Smaller Than 27 X 112?
Jan 15, 2010
I'm making an app with several forms and wanted to add a label to each form that, when double clicked, would resize the form to 10 x 10 pixels.
ControlBox, MaximizeBox, MinimizeBox, properties are set to false so there is no title bar. No text or icon. MinimumSize is set to 0,0.
I made a new project that consists of one form with one label to make sure there was nothing in my code causing the problem but still every time I double click the label the form is resized to 27 pixels high by 112 wide.

I made a program on a computer with a big screen.I set it to open in 'maxamized state' , and I took away the top, so you can't close/resize/minimize it. How can I get the form to automatically resize to the screen size??
2) Is it possible to make a form ( in visual basic express edition 2011) not close when user shuts down computer and/or logs-off ...maybe run in back grond..?
3) Is there a code ( in visual basic express edition 2011) that can make the program start automatically when a user logs-in ?
4) Is there a code that can make something happen (e.g. play music, etc.) from e.g. 7:00 A.M. - 10:00 A.M.

My program has 1,000 + .rtf files and when I publish/Install it's HUGE! 200mb +. I have other apps from other software companies that have more documents than mine, and their entire application is around 50mb. What am I missing here? How do I accomplish the same thing? Does it have to do with the Property Settings of the .rtf files called: "Build Action" and "Copy to Output Directory"? I set my "Build Action" to "Content" for all my .rtf files, and set "Copy to Output Directory" to "Copy Always".

Is there a way to automatically resize a windows form to fit a smaller display? I created a program on a computer with a 12" display, everything works fine. However, when I load the same program on a computer with a 8" display, I am not able to view all the contents on the windows form. Is there a way to correct this without manually resizing all the contents on the form?

Does anyone know if it's possible to have a tab page, on a tab control, with a smaller area than other tab pages on the tab control.
For example, if the small tab was in focus, the contents of the tab behind would be visible.
I have tried the tab page size properties, this doesn't work.

I am trying to take a png file (around 2000 x 2400) and split it into 8 smaller images of 500 x 1250 each (2 rows of 4), each of which is saved as a png file. I then which to display these smaller png files in a picture box so that they look as if they were one image.
My problem is that when I display the png files in the picture box, lines that look like grid lines show up in the picture box at the points where the png files sit next to each other.
When I view the smaller png files in Paint it appears as if the left column (x=0)and top row (y=0) of each file is set to clear (or transparent). What shows up in the picture box is the background colour of the picture box.
This clear/transparent row and column are not added on to size of the smaller png files. They are still 500 x 1250.Not every file is affected. If the smaller files are created from the original bitmap in the following order[code]...

I'm trying to rotate a mirror, which I represented by a line across a specific point. I translated the point of rotation to the center, rotated by an angle indicated in a text box and then translated it back to its original position.
Here is my code :
Quote:
HTML Code:
Dim theta As Single
Private Cntr_X_blu_Mirror As Single = 5
[Code].....
I hope the code is good. The problem I encountered is that the line becomes smaller and smaller as I rotate it. and that's bad! Sometimes it even grows longer [I think when I rotate it in the oposite direction!]
Also, when I rotate it at 90 degrees, the rotation does not resembles a 90 degree rotation. It seems to be inclined at 45 degrees instead!

I have been working on a much larger project and came to a point where I decided threading should be used.It seems in previous version of .Net, a background worker was able to update controls that were were not created on that thread. Now, it doesn't seem to be the case.I basically just began a new small project to try and teach myself the basics.Form1 Consists of A listbox, A progress bar, a label and two buttons, one to start and one to cancel.
imports system.threading
private sub btngo(byval sender as system.object, byval e as system.eventargs) handles btngo.click
pbprogress.minimum = 0[code=....
This code appears to be updating the listbox.I can see the vertical scrollbar getting smaller, but no data is shown in the listbox. The progressbar is also updating properly while that is working, indicating proper background operation. But what it's not doing is this:
1. Label is not updating percentage
2. The form is not free to be used by the user (me)

But if I edit the same file again its down to 16k and corrupted. The image being edited is the standard desert.jpg found in the picturessample pictures directory.
I'm using the following
Public Sub Put_FileMetadata(ByRef glb_UserArray() As String, ByRef glb_SecurityArray() As String, ByRef glb_InputParms() As String, ByRef glb_InError As Boolean, ByRef glb_ErrorNumArray() As Long, ByRef glb_ErrorDescArray() As String)

Let say I had a project contains 10 forms and 10 reports and typed dataset (xsd)I am trying to divide my project forms into dlls, so when the client had a problem or asks for modification in single forms, I had to build the project all over again and the exe size will be large.
in my current project, the exe size is 4.8 MB, and I am working with customers by internet and remoting, so every time I make small changes (change the back color of textbox in one form) I had to rebuild and send the whole 4.8 MB to the customer. And not forgetting the increasing size of the exe with time.I know that converting my project to class library and built it will convert it to dll, so I had to create a second project to manage it.
1 - Can I convert 3 or 4 forms / 10 forms total in my current windows application project to dll?
2- What is the best recommended method to divide the project into smaller entity.

I'm really hoping I can describe this question in an understandable way. This is a puzzle that I have not been able to begin to solve even though I (mostly) understand it. I'm just not sure where to start, and I'm really hoping someone out there can get me headed in the right direction.
I have a LARGE table of data. It describes relationships between objects. Let's say the Y-axis has items numbered 1-1000, and the X-axis has items 1-1000 also. If item #234 on the Y-axis is related to item #791 on X, there will be a mark in the table where the row and column cross. In some industries this is referred to an a Truth Table. One can, at a glance, see how many items in a system relate to each other. The marks in the table can help to identify trends and patterns. Here's some other helpful stuff about the nature of the table:
The full range of the number of relationships (r) for each item on either axis can be 1 <= r <= axisTotal. The X and Y axis will share common items, but each axis will also have items that the other axis does not. Each item will only exist once per axis. It can be on X and Y, but it would only be on each one 1 time. The total number of items on each axis will most likely NOT be equal. Each axis could have from 50 to 1000's of items.
The end result is that this is going to be a report that needs to be printed. We have successfully printed a table that had about 100-150 items on each axis on an 11in X 17in piece of paper. Any more than that and it begins to be so small it's unreadable.
What I am trying to do is split the super large tables into smaller tables, but related points need to stay together. If I grab item 1-100 on X then I would need each item they relate to from Y.I've generated a number of these tables and, while the number of relationships CAN be arbitrary, I have never seen an item relate to all other items. So in real practice the range is more like 1 <= r <= (10% * axisTotal). If an item's relationships exceed this range, it can be split up into multiple tables, but that is not optimal at all.
At the end of the day I think we, and our clients, would be happy if a 1000x1000 item table was split into 8 to 10 printed pages of smaller, related tables. One other thing worth noting, there will be no empty rows or columns in the table. Every item on both the x and y axis will relate to at least 1 item on the opposite axis.

I have read that VB .NET in earlier versions limited the FORM size to that of the development machine screen resolution.I am hoping that there is a way in the current VB 2010 to get around that. However in my attempts to make the form larger, it always resets itself to the screen height on my develoment machine. Is there a way to get around this and have the person be able to use a scroll bar to move down? The data I wish to show actually has two screens worth of information but the stuff in the scroll down section would be used on a limitied basis so scrolling will be useful rather than having to recreat the screen to show less data at one time.
