Masking A DataGridView And Checking For "MM/DD/YYYY"
Jul 27, 2010
How do i mask my DataGridView (column Date) in the following format MM/DD/YYYY and if its in the wrong format MessageBox.Show ("Check Date. It must be in the following format: MM/DD/YYYY") This is what i have so far in my code....
On one server now.date() gives date like '08/06/2012 00:00:00' and on other gives '6/8/2012 12:00:00 AM'. I need the date like '08/06/2012 00:00:00'. I can not use now.date.tostring("dd/MM/yyyy") as it is at too many places.
I need to ask your assistance in converting string to datetype, from 'dd/mm/yyyy' to 'yyyy-mm-dd'.The user could key in either the 'dd/mm/yyyy' format or 'yyyy-mm-dd' format in a textbox.the system would check for both format and convert both to the 'yyyy-mm-dd' date format, to be able to save the value in a datetype field in a MySQL table
I need to get a date field from MM/dd/yyyy to yyyy/MM/dd in vb.net but it should still be a date field afterward so that I can match it against a date in a database. At the moment all I'm managing to do is to change it to a string in that format.I tried this type of code which also did not work.[code]
I have a website in which I have many categories, many sub-categories within each one and many products within each of those. Since the URLs are very user-unfriendly (they contain a GUID!!!), I would like to use a method which I think is called URL Masking. For example instead of going to catalogue.aspx?ItemID=12343435323434243534, they would go to notpads.htm. This would display the same as going to catalogue.aspx?temID=12343435323434243534 would display, somehow.
I know I could do this by creating a file for each category / sub-category (individual products cannot be accessed individually as it is a wholesale site - customers cannot purchase directly from the site). This would be a lot of work as the server would have to update each relevant file whenever a category / sub-category / product visibility changes, or a description changes, a name changes... you get the idea...I have tried using server-side includes but that doesn't like it when a .aspx file is specified in an html file.
I have also tried using an iframe set to 100% width / height and absolutely positioned left 0 and top 0. This works quite well, but I know there are reasons you should not use this method such as some search engines not coping with it well. I also notice that the title of the "parent" page (notepads.htm) is not the title set in the iframe (logically this is correct - but another issue I need to solve if I go ahead and use this method).
I have my form connected to an access database. Two of my fields for example are Date of birth and money. In the access database the DOB field is set to a data type of date/time(shortdate) and the money field is set to currency. When I run my app if i type 5/23/09 into the DOB field it'll auto update the textbox in the form to 5/23/2009 (which is great). If I type 200.4 into the money field it wont add a $ sign or update to two decimals but it will save as $200.40 in the DB. How do I make the money field auto update like the DOB field to format to currency right away?
1. How do I change the colour of the text I am entering. i.e. if the letter entered by the user IS in the word, then I want to make that text appear green in the other textbox, "guessed letters"
2. I also want to know how to mask and unmask certain characters at will. i.e. when the user guesses a letter, the program checks to see if the character is in the predefined word. If it is, then I want it to unmask that letter on the label, "Word Label". I also want the program to start with the word already masked.
3. How do I take a random word from a text file for the user to guess?. I have a text file with all the words of the dictionary on a new line.
Here's the mediafire link to my project: [URL]. (The dictionary text file is included)
1. I can check a DataSet for errors with DataSet.HasErrors and I wonder how to check the same thing for a DataGridView.
2. Coming from MS Access I am not used to batch editing a dataset via a datagridview for instance. Think of a multi user Windows forms application / SQL Server setup. So I wonder if it's ok to just save the data after a row has changed, edited or deleted and not wait till all modification are done and then do a batch update?
I want to check if two combobox values are equal. The comboboxes are in a datagridview.I found you need to use datagridview_EditingControlShowing to add a handler to the comobo boxes for selectedindexchanged. I can do this with this code.
Code: Private Sub dgridRegisters_EditingControlShowing(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.DataGridViewEditingControlShowingEventArgs) Handles dgridRegisters.EditingControlShowing Dim combo As ComboBox = CType(e.Control, ComboBox)
[code]....
However, the message box comes up for every combobox in my datagrid when I change the index, not just the cmbPort2. I would like to have something like this...
If cmbPort1.selectedindex == cmbport2.selectedindex then 'do something endif
I have an unbound Datagridview which gets its data from an array from an Excel sheet. I give the user the chance to amend this data in a Datagridview. I then need to know if the user has changed this data before processing it further. I have in vain, tried to use IsCurrentRowDirty, IsCurrentCellDirty, looping through DGV matrix etc. It seems that because the DGV is not bound to a dataset then the normal properties like HasChanged and the 2 above don't seem to work. Here is my attempted code which is not working:
Dim DGRow As DataGridViewRow Dim DGCell As DataGridViewCell For Each DGRow In DGV_ReviewDetails.Rows
I am adding the text of a label into a datagridview. But before i do the insert, i want to check if the text does not already exist in the datagridview.
I have a datagridview with a bunch of columns, one of them being an Image type (DataGridViewImageColumn). What I want to do is basically check to see what the file path of the image in one of those cells is.
I've tried doing like:
If (DataGridView1.Item(7, Number).Value.ToString = "some path" then 'do stuff here End if
but it always says DataGridView1.Item(7, Number).Value.ToString is just "System.Drawing.Bitmap", instead of the actual file path of the image in the cell.I've also tried the above, without the .ToString, but I get an error saying System.ArgumentException was unhandled (Argument 'Prompt' cannot be converted to type 'String'.)
I have a DataGridView1 populated by sql searches. On the rare occasion that nothing is returned, my app cannot make use of data so I'm trying to check for null values. My code below is not correct because IsDBNull is not a member of the of the DataGridView1.
If DataGridView1.SelectedRows(0).IsDBNull Then MsgBox("Nothing to display") Exit Sub End If
I'm trying to read dates stored in a Excel sheet, but they are in this format "dd/MM/yyyy" and when I choose a date from MonthCalendar1 it's in "MM/dd/yyyy" format! so I can't compare them together .. I have to make them in the same format ..I get this error when I write this code: (Conversion from string "27/06/2011" to type 'Date' is not valid.)My idea is to convert the "dd/MM/yyyy" to string and then to "MM/dd/yyyy"
Private Sub Button2_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button2.Click Dim DateA As Date = Format(CDate("27/06/2011"), "MM/dd/yyyy") End Sub
But i want to Format in API instead of these steps: Go to : Controlpanel/Region and Language Option/Customize/date/Shortdateformat....
When user run my application. The the type of datetime in their system will be converted to dd/MM/yyyy. And then after others application such as excel, word,vs.... have that type date.
i'm working on project that backup SQL daily and archive into ZIP file but i got an error cause i was trying to save the archive with today date and time so i think the problem that i need to change separate from
I'm currently working on some SSRS reports and the data I am getting comes in quite a range. I'm getting dates in forms of[code]...
I was hoping to be able to come up with a formatting code to use for the row so that it would convert any of these into the MM/dd/yyyy format and anything else just leave untouched. Unfortunately the scope of my VB skills do not compliment my objective.
I am sure when I used to add a DateTimepicker to a form by default it would show dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm which is good because that is what I want. Now for some reason and I cannot see how I changed this or how I change it back it appears as dd/mm/yyyy. how do I get it back to display the hh:mm as well as the dd/mm/yyyy.
