I'm trying to check whether values ar between a maximum and a minimum limit. I do that 21 times, and it works 20 times. In case of the 21. time VB tells me that 15 is less than 8. Here the relevant lines of
Is there a limit to the maximum amount a List(Of T) can hold? I need to know because I have a program that could potentially wind up in a really large loop that would add over 200 or so items to a list at one time.
MSDN search didn't really tell me much, but I'm in a rush at the moment, and was just wondering.
I have been working on an activeX control which works on serial port communication. Now I have completed the project and created its setup.exe using Visual studio 6 -> Tools -> Package and Deployment Wizard. Then I installed the control in another PC and in a new project included the control using project -> components. But when I click on the control in the toolbox and then include on the form it gives the following error : delete current link ? and on clicking OK, nothing happens. I tried searching a lot on google but didnt find anything. Another problem is that I have created a string array as a global array which can be accessed by all the methods.I am able to include the same activex control in my own pc when I have created the project. Here it works fine, I am able to access all the methods that I coded in the control, but the String array mentioned above can be accessed in other project. I tried writing Public before the array declaration but it give me the compile error : "Constants. fixed length strings, arrays, user defined types and Declare statements not allowed as Public members of object module." [code]
Question: How to shorten this array creation ? I need to create an array of type ReportingService2005_WebService.Property with one property.
Something like:
Dim PropertyArray() as new ReportingService2005_WebService.Property(1)
I have to do this:
Dim PropertyArray As ReportingService2005_WebService.Property() = New ReportingService2005_WebService.Property(0) {} PropertyArray(0) = New ReportingService2005_WebService.Property
For some reason when i declare an array and set it to a certain amount of elements then under it specify the elements it works in VB 2005 but when i do it in VB 2008 it get : "declaration expected " and i get words underlined.
Public Class Form1 Dim words(20) As String words(1)="Computer" End Class
What is the maximum size of a multidimensional array in VB.NET (in my case two-dimensional)? I'm using Visual Studio 2008, Framework 3.5 I found in msdn [URL]: "The length of every dimension of an array is limited to the maximum value of a Long data type, which is (2 ^ 64) - 1. The total size limit of an array varies, based on your operating system and how much memory is available. Using an array that exceeds the amount of RAM available on your system is slower because the data must be read from and written to disk." However, I am trying to use an array of data type single, with dimensions 64513 by 301 but Visual Studio seems to freeze when I execute the line to redimension the array ( Redim myArray(64513, 301) ). I have 4Gb of RAM and am using Windows XP (32-bit).
I want to convert this C# two dimensional array declaration: [code]But I got error message, "array initializer has too many dimensions", and there is a green jagged line below {1,2,3} in two dimensional array VB.net declaration.
This is hopefully a softball syntax question: I need to call a method with an empty Object array for evaluation and set initial state. In C# I would just do this:
func(new Object[]{});
In VB.NET I am forced to do this:
Dim ctrls() As Control = {} func(ctrls)
Is there a way to shorthand the call in VB.NET and have everything happen in one line of code?
I'm making a call to my DLL file (prototyping 30+ functions), and want to be able to switch between different versions of the DLL quickly while in development. Thus, i want to replace the literal string constant that follows the "Lib" key word, with a variable string constant. In case there's any confusion in my use of the jargon. I am currently able to do this:
What I need to do is find a string that can be any value, and is placed between ">" and "</" with a minimun length of 5 and a maximum length of 7 and contains exactly 2 dots.
So if I have a text file like this:
<a href="www.site.com">a site</a> text<br /> More test<br />
[Code]....
I want it to find only the 5.0.77. And no, the number isn't always between h2 tags, and the number isn't even always the same. The only thing that is static about it is that is is between ">" and "</" and that it is between 5 and 7 characters and contains 2 dots.
I'm creating a file thats need to be in this format url... I need to be able to set the limit of the string length for certain fields.Is there an easy way to set the limit of the field so that if the string was larger then the limit then just take the substring and if smaller would add extra spaces?I was able to accomplish something similar to this with integers by just using .toString("00000").
In order to re-sort the data received in USB easier, I send the data array received in USB (declared as Byte) to a temporary array (declared as SByte) to re-sort. I declared the temporary array as SByte just for easy sorting. After I compiled, an error message came up "make sure not divided by zero". I tried to use convert.SByte but still didn't help. Is it not allowed to send data to an array with different data type declaration?
i have an array contains a-z.Then i have a textbox and when click on the button, it will replace the text inside the textbox to the index number of the array.Example, from "abc" will become "0 1 2" The code below do the job.how to do so that i can replace the text inside the textbox from "0 1 2" back to "abc" based on the array?
Dim txtKey As String = readKeyTxt.Text readKeyTxt.Text = "" For Each b As String In txtKey[code].....
I am writing an OPC Client in VB.NET (2008) and I am using an OPC wrapper from Graybox. I am having some problems with the data types. I have an Array of String that contains all of the OPC Items that I wish to read from the OPC Server. When I attempt to use the Array of String, Option Strict causes the following compile error message:Error 5 Option Strict On disallows narrowing from type 'System.Array' to type '1-dimensional array of String' in copying the value of 'ByRef' parameter 'ItemIDs' back to the matching argument. How do I pass the Item ID's (all strings) in an array?
I have an array defined As string and the value stored in site is like "7E", "A1" and so on. But in order to send out this array through serial port. I need to change the the array to As Byte instead of using As String. How can I convert it?
I've been working with a sig capture application sample on a windows mobile device, The data is sent via IP to a host as a byte array and is then drawn onto the screen of the host as it appeared on the client. I was able to get this into the form of a bitmap object so I could print it or save to a jpg file. That all works well. The problem now is that I need to store this data in a database and then be able to recall it at a later time and recreate the signature image.
The byte array data is much smaller than the actual image so I would like to store it in that form. My issue is that when I convert this byte array into a string and back again my program can no longer re-create the image. Once I saw the problem I created the code below as a test and added the msgboxes to get an idea what was happened to my data.
Im working on a program and I get this "Value of type '1-dimensional array of String' cannot be converted to 'String'." heres the code that gets this error:
I don't understand why the line final.join etc pops up with these errors!! Value of type 'String' cannot be converted to '1-dimensional array of String' And Access of shared member, constant member, enum member or nested type through an instance; qualifying expression will not be evaluated This is my code.
