I am having trouble with searching in my MySQL database. I do have FULLTEXT assigned to my table here is my code:
SELECT * FROM btt.btt WHERE MATCH(Solution) AGAINST ('the' IN BOOLEAN MODE)
this returns 0 results when in reality many results should have came back.I have read all the articles on the MySQL pages and it seems I am doing things correctly but obviously I am missing something.
I am getting this error in MySQL on search for keywords. The error: Can't find FULLTEXT index matching the column list. My Database Table is a MyISAM and my dataTypes I am searching are Text. Any Ideas why I would get the above error?
View 6 RepliesI'm struggling to meet a demand from my supervisors.Basically there are places in our project where there is a big selection of options. The most concrete example is choosing a city in the world. The items are hundreds of thousands.Using standard winforms controls and properties, one can search through a list fast.The problem is that we're using a concatenation of city&district name for all the items. Essentially PREFIX autotomplete works but does not work as needed. The task is to filter and show items by any given string in any part of the item. Essentially a FULL TEXT search in the combobox.Does anyone have an idea about switching autocomplete sources in runtime relatively qiuckly and handling the suggest/suggestappend event?

I would like a fulltext autocomplete functionality for a Combobox. Built-in autocomplete only filters those items, that match the written text from the first letter. Is there any 3rd party components that has fulltext autocomplete? Or do I need to make functions myself?
View 4 RepliesI have determined thanks to the last q & a that there is something wrong with my "save to db" code as well as my "retrieve to picture" code. Even If I manually save the pic in the db it stil wont retreive. This is code i patched together from 3 or 4 examples around the net.

MySQL databases exists for saving values as strings (text only). Is there any way that i could store files with the same speed as a mysql command ? I know that it depends on the file size but lets say that the file is "Avatar.jpg" 50KB... I ve tried FTP but this is not what im looking for. e.g. You want your users been able to upload a file like the [Add This Attachment] button does in dreamincode.net and you dont have any background on PHP/HTML/Javascript/ASP.NET just VB.NET and the basics of MySQL plus you dont want to use it for a website. How do you accomplish this? Something silly that ive tried was opening an image as text then update the mysql server with that text but it didnt work backwards after i wrote the text on the file and oppened it ...it said that the image was corrupted.

I'm connecting to my mysql server using ODBC in vb.net, the database is shared throughout the company because it is used in an accounting program (simply accounting), each user has their own account user/pass to login to the database. I have developped a program that uses the accounting database and combines it with other information, my problem is that at least once a day I get this error when I run my program: "(10061) ERROR [HY000] [MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver]Can't connect to MySQL server on"and the error persists for at least 4 hours, for some reason it starts to work again later on in the day.

It has worked fine for a while, but I found out that last week one of the computers didn't close the connection with the database, which resulted in (a bunch of) errors on the other computers.
I have a mySQL server (external) where I can add the data into, but I think that it would slow down the loading severely, but it's very important that people can import the data at the same time.

I am doing an assignment for class and it is searching an SQL Database file. On the GUI I have a text box and a button to search this database. View 2 RepliesI have an object that I'm instantiating in VB.NET. I'm trying to see if it's storing a particular value somewhere in it. If I look at the object in the watch window in the VS 2010 IDE, I see this huge tree structure with thousands of nodes, many layers deep.
I'd like to be able to search for a value "1234" in this huge tree structure. I tried using serialization to convert the object to xml, but it complains that it doesn't have a parameterless constructor, since this object is provided by a third party, I can't add a parameterless constructor.Is there any way that I can search this object? Is there anyway that I can convert the tree structure that I see in the vs 2010 watch window to an xml document, or a string?
