Im running a login screen (code below) but when a user logs in, how can i get visual basic 2008 express to pop up a new form. I.E. user logs onto system, then a program loads up.

I'm trying to make a login form thats opened by a button. I know how to make the button open a new form but I want the form to have a admin login,guest login and a new user button that only a logged in admin can open, it should also have a 'only admins can create new users' type messagebox. If your still understanding me I also want it to stay in the file, like you press the login button and it brings you up to the page. I don't know if it could have account control like user from limited to admin.
View 14 RepliesI am having a difficulty in this login form that I have made. The same as the premade template login in VB 2008 which I am using right now.Here's what happens when I run the program Log in form open > Log in successful > Main window appears *The login form still does not disappear.
I tried hiding it via me.hide() Log in form open > log in successful > Main window appears > log in form disappear.*Now the problem is that I cant close the whole application because the login form is still there only hidden. Again I tried putting in the "EXIT" button the code me.close() login.close()Log in form open > log in successful > Main window appears > log in form disappears > Exit application *Now everything seems to be ok now and then I found another problem.Instead of clicking the exit button I tried clicking the X button on the main window. There I found out that it only closes the main window. Therefore not closing the whole application because the login form is still hidden.
wen i open mdi through the login form, the forms inside the mdi child forms dont seem to execute.

View 3 RepliesI created a SQL DB named MainDB.mdf and a small VB 2010 application with some forms and datasets.Everything was working OK until i got a new computer and re-installed Visual Studio 2010 and SQL server 2010 on it. I copied my DB from the old to the new computer and also copied by VB 2010 project to it. I used Windows Authentication to connect to the DB in the old computer and also in the new one, i am using different Windows user account names though.
I was able to connect to the DB in the new computer in the Server Explorer section, i created a new connection string to the DB and i can seed there is data in the tables. When i run my VB 2010 application created in the old computer get error:
"Cannot open database "MainDB" requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'D630Admin'."
I need to get rid of that error and be able to add/mod/del data from my DB using my VB application as i used to.

Second question: When I deploy my application which communicates with SQL server, should I put in the installation file SQL server? View 7 RepliesI created an application that opens certain Microsoft Windows built in functions depending on what button you use. I have Text Fields setup for certain things like IP/URL, Username, Password, Port, Service. Depending on what function you want it pulls data from these fields.
When someone clicks on Remote Desktop I would like it to pull from the IP/URL, Username and Passwords fields. Right now it pulls only from the IP/URL field. How can I have it populate the Remote Desktop login, pulling the data from my Username and Password fields?
I have found a Login DLL that someone wrote and also found a Remote Desktop DLL but I do not know how to tie these into my program. I somewhat know the process of using a DLL in a VB project but I don't know how to tie these in.
FYI, I would like to be able to make my application a single executable instead of having multiple files that are installed by an Setup program.
Another feature of my program is being able to stop and start a service. I can use Taskkill and have it pull the username and password just because Taskkill has this built in with switches. This is ok for ending tasks but when I try to use SC to start the tasks, it only works locally because the remote server has a different username and password. SC does not have a switch for username and password.
Also another FYI, I do not want to use a 3rd party software that may not be on the remote computer/server. i.e. PSKill, PSExec, VNC or another program..... unless these can be imported into my single executable program and not have to be on the computer. As I mentioned, I do not like having to rely on 3rd party applications.

I had a problem with WebBrowser component. Basically, it works improperly when try to log in on one web-site (Forex Trading Social Network | Online Forex Trading Forum and Social Networking Site). I am working with Visual Studio 2010 Professional. I created a simple WebBrowser trying to access the indicated web-site. The problem begins. Well, the website loads, but when you go to the login page (Forex Trading Social Network | Online Forex Trading Forum and Social Networking Site) and try to log in, it doesn't work. I mean, when I enter the login details the login page just refreshes itself and the login wasn't proceed. The same login page appear with every login attempt. I have a code which when used, firstly application will run the Splash Screen application. Splash Screen will be active for several second, and then the main of application will show in full screen. Before the user use the application, user must Log in first. This works but the problem is that it loads the splash and login form twice. To worsen the situation, the second login form that appears gives access to the system even when the cancel button is clicked while the first login form just works fine.
