Opening Exe With VMWare
Aug 2, 2010im making a program that runs other programs. The thing is, it runs as a portable exe so its all packed into one exe. how can use shell() to run the program that is packed into one exe?

Getting VMware Backup Tools?
Jul 31, 2007Here is something I decided to come up with after backing up my virtual machiens with powershell code.
The software includes:
-dll to handle DB access and shared objects,
-GUI to manage the backup schedule,
-Windows Service to actually turn off the virtual machine, back it up, and power it back on, according to schedule.
It is not finished yet, but the main thing is is that the windows service actually backs up what you specify.
VMWare Specific Or Perhaps The Type Of Install Specific?
Apr 27, 2010Strange story... I downloaded VMWare but it has since advised of an available update. I downloaded the update and when I click to install it, a window comes up with VB Code from a project I created a while back in a completely separate folder from this install file. I then tried downloading the trial of VMWare Workstation and when running the installer it shows the same thing. I don't know of anyway to contact VMWare support since I don't pay for any services or products and all there is available is a FAQ type section. Of course this problem would not be in there, nor can I find any such related issue online. his is VMWare specific or perhaps the type of install specific. I have no other issues with any other app installations other than with VMWare installations.

But, it is requiring multiple forms (obviousily), but I don't know how to make it close the one I am in while opening the other. For example: I have a form that opens first that requires a Username and Password, so nobody can obviousily use it without knowing them. I can get it to open mine but it can't open other peoples they get errors when they try, I have xp and the Vista and other people can't get it to open theirs so I need to know how to find the file then open it.

Im designing a programme that allows the end user to open and have a go at doing a vb.net application with the application that im making. Jun 7, 2010My program performs a search on a specific directory and returns a list of files with specific criteria. When the user selects a file name in the list box and Clicks the button, I want the program to open that file and print it. I have two functions - one store the file path in a text box and the other gives me an option to select the printer. have no idea how to open the file using that path and how to get it print.If i specify the hard code the a specific file path, it currently can open all files except a .dwg file. For a .dwg file, my program opens auto-cad and crashes?

Opening A File In VB6?
Jun 13, 2012im wondering if it is possible to open an attached file to a database record. for example in EmployeeID 000 i have a MSWord attachment. the user can open this msword file through the VB6 program. all i have saved in the database is the location of the attachment but the user cannot view this attachment.

Feb 12, 2010I'm currently using System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("..Documentssam ple.pdf") to open the document. It works great but in my program when I open up a document using the OpenDialog control it will break something. After opening up a file using the OpenDialog control I try to open up the PDF but then the file cannot be found. I think current path changes... and is no longer in the directory I need it to be in.
How do I get VB to tell me its current directory or even tell me the path of the install program so I can tell it where to go to find the document? The big issue is that I deploy this program to many users so they may install it in different areas so I cannot use the same file location such as C:ProgramFilesPDF_DocsmyPdf.pdf as the path/

Aug 16, 2009Well on VS it has the most recent projects which is only like four. WHen I want to access an older one I click open then click on the folder. I don't know what to click after that but whatever I click never brings the form up but it has it's name in the solution explorer in the top right.

A couple of times the function returned the error (on users machine) "the system cannot find the file specified"
I guess the user has not set a default web browser. Why i get this error? How could i add a default web browser check before calling this function?

I tried just using a system.diagnostics.process.start("http://userid:pw@site") but that does not work. Was hoping someone could lend a hand.
