I did this for one of my homework assignments in C#. However I need to do this in Visual Basic. For VB it just needs to be 6 characters and have one numeric digit and at least one alphabetic character.

My homework assignment is to create a project where a user enters a password that must be at least 3 characters long with at least 1 number and 1 alphabet character. After that the password has to be encrypted so that vowels become X, numbers Z, and it reverses. For example, a password of CS2301 would be ZZZZSC. There's supposed to be Loops to extract 1 number/letter at a time and search for them in the string to validate, and I don't know what to do. The form itself has a Text Box to enter a password and a label to display the new one, and a Go button.

I want my text box to filled by an alphabet first then the remaing characters can be anything. Also i have drop down which is having arithmatic functions.(< ,> , = ,+ etc) If the user selects < or > then the value entered in the text box should be numeric. and if the user selects "=" then the textbox value should be string.

I can change the PasswordChar property to an asterisk no problem and even copying and pasting symbols inserted into Word seemed to work - just couldn't find a symbol that looked like a bullet point!
Can this actually be achieved for a standalone exe, or is it something unique to web forms? Surely copying and pasting symbols from Word isn't actually the answer?

The user can specify the amount of characters the password will be and whether to randomize between the alphabets A-Z, numbers 1-10, and maybe a hand full of symbols or so, and a combination of all three options. Also the user can use the "re-generate" button if he/she does not like the current password. I'm fairly new to VB, and would just like a push in the right direction to get started.

I need to identify an ID number and a password. Like this,(Form1) there's a two textboxes, one is the ID number and the second one is the Password, when I enter the two it means i Log-in, the system needs to identify if the ID number and the password is registered in mySQL, then if it is registered a message box will appear "You are log-on" and a form will show (form2) in 10 to 15 seconds that is having the information of the student, then it will automatically close then it will go back to the form1 which the another user will log-in again.
(this is Form1 too) then here is my second problem, like what i said in the first problem, the program needs to identify that the student is already log-on the school and he is going to log-out, (like this, system is going to identify that the id number and the password is already declared on the first form, so it will be the log-out code, then a message box will appear "You are Log-out".
(Form3) then here is my third problem, i need to identify how many people is inside the campus and not going out on the campus. The person or student that is not logging-out on the program or the system will be count when i click the Button 'Count' and the number of student inside the campus will be display in a 'Label'(it will be inserted also or having record on mySQL tableInside).

I have a query to solve for which I have coded. But my code produces output only for those hardcoded values found in the text file. I have a text file which is given as the input to my code. The text file contains lines with "_DIA" , "_DIA_some number" etc. In this case I need to remove few letters from that field.
Eg: 1)if the name field contains 1234567_DIA_2.PRT, I need to remove "_DIA_2" from the name field and concatenate the .PRT with the number. 2)if the name field contains 1234567_DIA1.PRT, then remove "_DIA1" and concatenate. I need to store the number of characters removed and add so many number of blank spaces with the name field after the concatenation.
for the 1) case I need to concatenate and add 6 spaces with the name field. for the 2) case I need to concatenate and add 5 spaces with the name field.
I'm not sure how to find the number of characters from "_" to ".", underscore need to be considered in the counting and the dot(.) should not be taken into account.
Say I open a text file in a richtextbox control. After that I search for a specific string like "6.1". The string actually continues like "6.1XXXXXXX". I would like to list all uppercase, lowercase, numeric and special characters next to a text box. In the four text boxes, you would select how many characters from each set you would like in your password. For example 4 uppercase, 2 lowercase, 3 numbers and 2 special characters. That would generate a random password 11 characters long. View 7 RepliesI've written a piece of code that takes 3 fields from a database and writes out the 3 added together, but with the middle field cropped down, so that the total number of characters is always 28, what I thought was the width of my listbox. I realised when I debugged though, that the listbox was docked and grew or shrank depending on the size of the screen.

I'm trying to remove it but the Len() function is reading the number of bytes instead of the string itself. How can I alter this to give me the length of the string as I would normally use it and not of the array underlying the string itself?

Len() reports the number of bytes not the number of characters in the string.
For a project I need to do a String strX is said to be a cyclic rotation of a String strY if it's possible to rotate the characters in strY by some number of positions, n, such that strY becomes strX. I don't mean rotate in a Caesar sense here but in a left-right (or right-left) sense. For instance, strX = abanan is a cyclic rotation of strY = banana because rotating the characters in banana to the right by n=1 (i.e., by one position), wrapping accordingly, yields abanan. Similarly is strX = anabana cyclic rotation of strY = banana because rotating the characters in banana by n=3.I need to write an application that returns True if strX is a cyclic rotation of strY otherwise the result is False.
