RTF Characters Transferring To Mail Merged Document?
Nov 3, 2009
I'm upgrading an old proprietary system which stores customer's data in a SQL DB. We have an API to our old system which allows us to run the functions setup within it. ie, extract a letterheading which includes a customer's name, address, our reference number, etc. We could write new functions in our VB.NET 2005 application to extract such data but we want to retain use of the system's API.
I want to perform a mail merge for a number of customers and output any data to a merged .RTF document, however, when I extract and attempt a mail merge, my first merge field data for this letterheading function is this:
"{fieldflddirty{*fldinst ADVANCE \y 143}{fldrslt }}Mr P Johnson
par 1 High Street
par Town
par County
I have a macro where I send a confirmation e-mail per line out of Excel. I can attach a document with a fixed location (let's say a map stored at c:map.jpg) but I have a problem attaching a document that is specific to the recipient. [code]...
Is the code correct? Or is there a trick what to do with the cell content?
i have an application of developed by .Net, i can use it my computer and other pc but only in one pc it isnt working and it give an error message "Invalid characters found in mail header" operatins system is Windiws 7
I have set up a mail merged XtraReport, and it works fine. Now I want to access one entry in that mail merged report. By entry I mean the text associated with one row in the dataset, i.e. with the values filled in instead of having the square brackets with the field names. So if have an XRRichText in my report with the text "Hi [name]" I want access to the XRRichText object with the RTF value "Hi Sandy"..Added information in example, added VB.net tag
I am trying to get data from an Oracle database into an already created Word template which has the fields and OLEDB link already set up in it. I've tried some of the ways i've seen on here but it always seems to come back to the same answer that it pops up a 'Confirm Data Source' window in Word and then fails to connect. Does anyone know why this is happening or have any other way of doing it?
how to edit and print mail merged document in vb.net (windows app) i have written the code to open the mail merged document but after the end user edited i want to print the document also.
I wrote a VB.Net application that displays HTML help files according to user's search results.A user types some keywords and receives a list of HTML help files containing these keywords. When a list item is selected the HTML file is displayed in WebBrowser control. The problem is that I cannot mark the keywords in the displayed HTML file. I need to highlight them like in a standard Help. I tried many options and nothing works. If I change HTML element style manually (background color for a specific string) all pictures attached to this page are not displayed. After "Refresh" operation the pictures are displayed but the text selection is not enabled.I hope there is a standard function for this operation but I cannot find it.

I merged two files in a file '================================= 'Merge Two File in a File My.Computer.FileSystem.WriteAllBytes("e:a.jpg", My.Computer.FileSystem.ReadAllBytes("Penguins.jpg"), True) My.Computer.FileSystem.WriteAllBytes("e:a.jpg", My.Computer.FileSystem.ReadAllBytes("One Republic.mpg"), True) '================================= Now, how I can split this Merged Files?
Does the quality of code merged by TFS 2008 depend on the used programming language? I know merging in Java / Subversion, and merging a branch to its trunk usually does not create much conflicts. Now in my company, we use VB.NET. When I merge two files TFS does not always get code blocks right, e.g. does not find the right If..then / end if lines. To give you an example, I mean: File 2 is created as a branch of File 1. Both files were changed later, now I'm going to merge those files and am recieving conficts: The marked end-if lines (1) are detected as corresponding, meaning the added event handler Button1_Click is being deleted.
Now I wonder if this behavior is by language (C# vs. VB.NET) or are other source control solutions just better than TFS? (And I really liked TFS up to now :) )

File 2 (Branch of File 1):

I have a vb .net program that exports information to certain fields of an excel workbook using named ranges. One of the named ranges is a notes section that gets cut off (not visible nor gets printed) if it extends beyond a page break. I am looking for a way to dynamically create new named ranges to accommodate all of the notes' text.[code]....
I'm using a reportviewer in VB.NET. When the user exports a report to Excel some of the columns get merged and hidden. is it possible to fix this? Maybe by manipulating some code or a setting somewhere..?

I have a piece of code which sends email with an attachment from my application. The code uses MAPI to send the email. It opens up a new email message so the user can add to the email message, and then the user clicks send. The code works fine. However there is one small problem. The email that the code opens, is always in Microsoft Outlook. Sometimes the application's user has Outlook Express set up as the default client, but my application always opens the new email message in Microsoft Outlook. (Outlook 2003. In the one user's machine that has Outlook 2007, everything works fine and the email opens up in Outlook Express.)As I searched for a solution, I saw this problem posed many times in various places on the Internet, with no solution (or none that worked). I did try several suggestions which involved creating registry settings and registering some dlls.
I am teaching myself vb.net and wanted to change this code to have an embedded mail.boby from a text file instead of the file attachment. Code spippet below and where I need help is mail.Body = ("tracertALL.txt") that just puts the name of the file NOT the contents of the file. This code is a CMDWrapper that runs a batch file and I want the contents of a trace route that is pipe to a file >> tracertALL.txt .
I'm trying to update some older software which uses the now-declared-obsolete System.Web.Mail classes.Unfortunately, I don't really know a heck of a lot about email, so I'm looking for advice.
Here is the fragment of code I'm looking at revising:

From what I can tell, this should be configuring some kind of sending option. I can kind of work out what's going on, but I don't know how I should go about re-implementing it.It's looking like the place to be putting this stuff is now in the System.Net.Mail.SmtpClient.Credentials class, but the information in there doesn't seem to bear any resemblance to what I have here.I'm almost certain I'm making some obvious error, here, but I can't see it. Can someone tell me what I should be doing?
I'm teaching myself vb.net and found this VB.NET SMTP codeand I wanted to add a mail.cc and mail.bcc but get an error Property cc is ReadOnly.and don't know how to fix. then I found this code
Dim CC As MailAddress = New MailAddress(TextBox5.Text) 'For some reason it's required field mail.CC.Add(CC)
MVC3, VB.NET. I have a function in my app that is supposed to use a html file's contents for the email body. However what I have so far is failing at the mail.body = file.readalltext(_body) line..
So, how can I set (if it's possible) the localization for these labels? I've this kind of assignment in modules and not in the form. It's possible to set a resources file also for modules?
I am tring to send e-mail used VB 2008. Below is my code. The error message I am getting is "5 Failure sending mail at System.Net.mail.client.send(MailMessage message).I have two questions. 1.) What am I doing wrong? & 2.) Is there a way the get a more description error message.
message As New System.Net.Mail.MailMessage Dim mySmtpsvr[code].....
I'm trying to make custom ListBox with some graphics. Base is ItemCollection - each item contains Panel, 2x label and 2x picturebox. What each panel have to do:
- Change backcolor on MouseEnter and set color back when MouseLeave occurs. - On MouseDown(LMB) - Panel stays "selected" - different color.
Problem: I can't access multiple panels at a time(and I need to), just one via sender as in function. Of course, I can do it hacky way, but I want to do it effective and regular. Is ItemCollection the right solution or should I do it just like an array of panels? Also I want them in one "box", ItemCollection is good for it.
Second "problem": I need to make labels "merged" in panels, when i MouseEnter them(labels), background color on that panel sets to my default color. when i MouseClick them(labels), nothing happens (need to "select" parent panel). It can be again fixed with hacky way, just disable labels - but then the colors of labels are unchangeable.
Essentially I am trying to replicate the Windows 7 (In-Windows) activation key TextBox form. The Form where it will auto capitalize letters, remove or deny all non alphanumeric characters except dashes every 5 characters that will be auto-input.I assume this can be done with a fairly complicated replacement Regular Expression but I cannot seem to create one to fit the needs.
This is an Example of what I have right now, but it creates an infinite loop as it removes all characters including dashes, than adds a dash, which changes the text and removes the dash again.
