Readonly DateTimePicker - Change Backcolor And Disable Calender?
Feb 4, 2012
I have the following code that sets a DateTimePicker as Readonly (and it works well). But to give the full effect of being readonly, I would like to implement the ability to change the Backcolor and disable the ability to use the calender. how to change the Backcolor and disable the Calender?
Public Class ReadOnlyDTP
Inherits DateTimePicker
'This hash table stores all the controls extended by this extender provider

I have a winforms app with a series of textboxes and one rich textbox. Upon a button click I would like to set all the fields to being readonly. The only issue with this is that the background color of a readonly richtextbox is white as opposed to the grey used by the textboxes.
I have tried setting the backcolor property of the richtextbox to being Color.LightGrey but this is not the same grey used by the textboxes. I have also tried setting the back color to being the backcolor of one of the readonly textboxes but this does not work either. what is the best way to get a readonly rich text box that looks like a readonly text box?

VBbasic 2008: I have a readonly textbox in a panel. The background color needed to be change to white for a more "readable" text. The problem is when I set the panel "enabled= false", the only control that does not look "disabled" is my textbox because it stays "white"! Even if I set the textbox to disable, it stays "white". How do you change the default backcolor of a readonly textbox instead of "forcing" it to white? Is it possible?

I've created a custom DateTimePicker and implemented code I found on the web to allow customization of the BackColor of the dtp (Making use of WndProc). However, I've discovered that this doesnt work in Windows 7 with the XP Visual Styles option enabled in the project. How to make this work for Win7, without disabling the Visual Styles (the controls look ugly without them).
Below is the code I'm using:
Private _BackColorBrush As SolidBrush = New SolidBrush(SystemColors.Window)
Public Overrides Property BackColor As Color
Get
Return MyBase.BackColor
End Get
Set(value As Color)
[Code] .....

The backcolor of a default DateTimePicker control seems to be Color.White, but can this change based on a users theme colours and how do I find out what it is currently set to?(There is no backcolour property and DateTimePicker.DefaultBackColor returns SystemColors.Control which is not actually correct)I guess that if someone can confirm that this can't change then I am safe to hard code it? The basis of this question was not actually a typo, it was the fact that BackColor does not show up in my DateTimePicker control intellisense.

I have a number of date fields in a project which need validating (they must be <Today() and be a proper date). I have tried Masked Textboxes, but I prefer the feel of the DateTimePicker control. However, can anyone tell me how I can prevent the user from selecting the calendar dropdown?
I found the following on a Microsoft Newsgroup site [URL], but as yet, I have been unable to successfully apply the code:
Public Class MyMonthCalendar
Inherits MonthCalendar
Protected Overrides Sub WndProc(ByRef m As Message)

I am working VB.NET 08 Access Database. I have Two "DateTimePicker" controls one is "StartDate" and one is "Enddate". Now I am selecting Startdate like May 1st OK. Now when I select Enddate control this calender shows only Equal or Greater than dates should be Enable. EndDate should be Always Greater than Equal Date. That's why when ever user selects the Enddate Before May 1st dates should be disable..

I have two datetime pickers that when changed call a function that validates the two dates and changes them as needed. This currently causes a loop where the function changes the dates on the datetime pickers that triggers the function again...
So I would like to disable the datetime pickers valuechagned function while the function runs then re-enable it after it makes the required changes.
Private Sub dtpStartDate_ValueChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles dtpStartDate.ValueChanged
subValidateDate()

I'm building an app that is a basic daytimer type of app. My problem is that I can't get the textbox(Textbox1) backcolor and text to change when I need it to. For instance, if there are events for January 12 and the user clicks on the Jan 12 link in the Calendar control, if there are any events in the SQL table for that day it should populate the appropriate times. The funny, or not so funny, thing is that I have another textbox named "TheEvent" that I can change the backcolor and text on with the code below and it works fine.[code]...

I say it doesn't, it does when it has finished the rest of the code in the Sub. Can anyone furnish me with an explanation please as to why it doesn't happen when I ask? I'm using Visual Studio 2008
