May 1, 2012I have a combobox that I am populating with the contents of a dataset (from an access database). The field that it is showing has lots of values that repeat. I want to remove the repeats of the data so that only unique records are shown in the combo box. I imagine this can be done with the SQL for the data adaptor? I tried: "SELECT type FROM products GROUP BY type" and "SELECT DISTINCT type FROM products" but both still showed the repeating records.

Feb 6, 2009I want to create small database which handles Student Attendance Record it will store the roll calls of students on daily basis that teachers collect from the students in the class on paper and then later transfer it on computer .So my database Must contain Month, Year, Program (BCS, BIT, MS, MCS, MIT etc) Batch (1st, 2nd etc) and Subject (English, Math, Geography etc)
Suppose I want to Search for the Attendance Sheet of any month, year, Program, Batch or Subject, it returns me the required dataSo i come up with the Datadase which includes 5 dimension tables and one fact tableDimension Tables1. Student (StudentID, Name, other Attributes)2. Program (Program_Name, other Attributes)3. Date (Date, Week, Month, Year)4. Batch (Batch_Number, Description)5. 1) When I go to phpmyadmin on cpanel, it says the server is localhost. I am confused by which IP i am supposed to use to connect, as im pretty sure just localhost will not work.
2) When connected, can i use credidentials from an account already made to access the database, or do i need to use the admin credidentials?

Feb 25, 2011I have a form with a combobox that is filled with a list of parts from a mysql DB. But the table contains more then 1000 parts. So I decided to load only the first 20. then have 2 bottuns 1 for UP and one for Down. when the user wants to get next 20 he press Down Etc. I see that the data is retrived well from the DB. I use a stored procedure with parameters and test it outside the VB code. In the VB debug I also see that the combobox got loaded with the right data. But the drop down list continue to show the original 20 parts. I also have a code to see if I got to the top or to the end and display a message box. I got the message box display but still the drop down is showing the original 20 parts.

Dec 18, 2010I have a data logging application that stores data in a table in a MySQL database. Data with a TimeStamp is logged into the table anytime the data from the sensor changes. This means that there maybe 2 seconds between data points or there maybe 20 seconds between points depending on how the data is changing.
When I need the data I have 2 dates and use this command to fill a table..SELECT FROM myTable WHERE timeStamp > date1 AND timeStamp < date2 This gets all the data that has a TimeStamp between the given dates, but in most case the first date in the returned table will be after date1, so I need to get the data from one row before the date returned in the table to know what the data was at date1.How can I get the data row that immediately precedes the returned data set?

Oct 27, 2011I'm having trouble with some Silverlight functionality. My goal is to get some data from the database and display it in my grid. Sounds simple, however, there are 7 columns that are always going to be there.
The rest of the columns depends on the account. There could be 2 (called Actions) associated with a certain account, compared to another account that could have 5, and the action names can be completely different.
I have successfully been able to return a list of all the possible actions for the given account, and then adding the columns to the grid in the code bihind(VB), and I can bind my data to the grid for all the columns that are already known. The way I store the item's actions, is a Property of type List. My problem is finding a way to iterate through the actions list of the Item object in order to bind those actions to the grid.
