Is there a way to compare two dates (which include time) ignoring the time? I have a 1/1/2009 8:00am and 1/1/2009 9:00am and I just want to know if it is the same day, without any care to what time it is. I know I can convert the date and compare the strings, but is there another way?

I have a windows form where I want the time to constantly be updated. Right now it will take the current time from when the program was started.
For example, if I started the program at 4:30:29 PM that is what it will show the whole time the program runs.I need it to constantly be updated as the seconds tick by. So, If I started the program at 4:30:29 PM and ran it for exactly 5 minutes, the time displayed then should be 4:35:29 PM.The data being taken in and saved needs a time associated with it and the end user also need to know the current time as the program is ran in full-screen. I have a datetime field in a SQL Server 2005 table that has values like this:
2012-04-23 09:00:00.000
2012-04-23 14:00:00.000
The minutes, seconds, and microseconds are always zero. I need to display a "time slot" (basically, the time plus one hour) like this:

What is the syntax that should be used in order to check if 08-Jan-2010 is before or after today.
I mean:If 08-Jan-2011 < today's date Then
msgbox("08-Jan-2010 is in the past")
Elseif 08-Jan-2010 > today's date
msgbox("08-jan-2010 is in the future")
Else
msgbox("08-jan-2010 is today's date")
This is exactly what I need to know

This is an annoying issue that started less than a week ago and couldn't come at a worse time, as I have a major project deadline to meet. At least once every TEN minutes, the program crashes with the error "Microsoft Visual Studio has stopped working" -- it only occurs when I am writing/editing code while execution is paused (Edit and Continue), which I do all the time since I am stepping through rather complex subroutines line-by-line. I literally have trained myself to save after each line of code I write, delete, or change, so thankfully I never lose much, if anything, when I restart, but it is irritating and time-consuming having to set up everything in the program and get to the place in the code that I was before. I have installed VS 2010 SP1, tried deleting the .suo file, and a few other supposed fixes that I came across online, to no avail.[code]...

I have been asked to create a program to create schedules for the Hospital where my wife works. Right now they do it in excel with a few macros. One question before I start, can multiple dates be selected from a DTP. Say for the month of July, my wife has to work the 3,4,5, the 10,11,12, the 17,18,19 and the 24,25,26. Can I select multiple dates for the month?

Thought I'd see if Stack overflow is quicker than me testing something while I get a thousand interruptions from other work :)
I'm updating an old VB net application and trying to refactor some of the logic as I go. The app looks for data from a single date across a few tables and writes that view to a file.
Writing the query in SQL I'd get the equivalent of
SELECT * FROM table
WHERE CAST(FLOOR(CAST(table.date AS float))AS datetime) = '15-Jul-2010'
Ideally I'd use
SELECT * FROM table WHERE date=@input
and add a date object as a parameter to a System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand instance
Are those two comparable? Will I get the results I expect?

I'm trying to compare the modify date of a file vs the current system date. I've found an MSDN article describing how to get the modify time of a file:
Dim infoReader As System.IO.FileInfo
infoReader = My.Computer.FileSystem.GetFileInfo("C: estfile.txt")
MsgBox("File was last modified on " & infoReader.LastWriteTime)
This gest the Date and Time, but I want just the Date not the time.

I need to compare the date that is entered with today's date minus some number of work days.
I used dateinterval.day, but that is the actual day, not the work day. i don't see a "simple" way to get work days.
For example, my number is 3, so i want 3 work days (M-F) not 3 days.
