Select A .ZIP Folder With FolderBrowser OR OpenFile DIALOGS?

I am unable to select a .ZIP folder with either the FolderBrowserDialog (FBD) or the OpenFileDialog (OFD). First off the FBD does not show any .ZIP folders when using it and the OFD does show .ZIP folders but I am not sure how to handle it's path. My question would be how can I handle the OFDs ".SelectedPath"??? I could easily obtain that info with the FBD "FolderBrowserDialog1.SelectedPath", but it does not allow the selection of .ZIP folders.. So now I am trying to do the same thing with the OFD but there isn't any code for obtaining the ".SelectedPath". Here's some code that shows what I am trying to do:

I'm using a folderbrowser dialog to choose a folder. however, the default folder is deep in the directory. when show the dialog, I set the selectedpath to the folder I want, but, the dialog does not show the selected folder in current view. users have to scroll down to see it.
is there a way to make the selected path shown in the current view when the dialog is launched?

I just downloaded the latest VB Express. It seems that thought the functions are available, there are many that are not as fully functioning as they should be, like PRINT dialogs and TIME/DATE dialogs, etc. Are some of these functions not fully developed in VB Express because they are only available to the licensed version?

Basically I am trying to enable the user the ability to select a folder and the folders music files populate a list box. I am having a problem trying to change a wpf application's folderbrowserdialog to an openfiledialog. The original application works fine and displays all the mp3 in the selected folder on the listview as intended. The problem occurs when I change the code to use an openfiledialog in order to select specific files, the mp3's do not show up in the listview, nor does the context show up in the status bar as the original program did. I have tried writing a test program which only includes a listview, button, and an openfiledialog and it works fine until I try to insert the test code into the original code.

how i can get a file count of the files in a folder by just using a folderbrowser dialog to do so.. as soon as i open a folder's location, to also add the the file count. i know how to get file count from a listbox, but i do not want to add a listbox if not needed. searched the net and got too many links leading nowhere. i am just looking for a simple solution, with a few lines of code, nothing complicated, just code i can add in a button.
i did find this code, but it is throwing a fit,

For some reason I can copy a file from a OFD box from anywhere other than my desktop.Could it be because I'm using the shell command and the file path contains spaces?I've declared the filepath as a variable. I know in a batch file you have to enclose names with spaces in "".

I am using vb.net 2003 and an Access database connected via Jet 4.0 OleDb. I have identified the location of my database using a relative path with [code]My program was working fine and I began making some cosmetic changes.I thought it would be a nice touch to add a PictureBox on the first form and allow the user to select the image that he would like to see when running the program.I added a menu item to "change the picture" and on a form added an OpenFile Dialog. I added code to capture the location of the selected file and used it to identify the image to be shown.I included a table in my database to store the file name and path which is loaded when the program starts.This all worked fine. I could change from picture to picture and the image would be updated each time in the picture box and in the database. I could access the database and perform all of the functions of the program.
That is as long as the image files that I selected were located in program startup directory. If I selected an image with the openfile dialog which was located else where then I could no longer contect to the database. I receive an "unhandled exceptions error". i want to get a random directory from a specified directory, for example, the desktop.
im not sure how to do this, this and the only thing I'm having trouble with for my application
for example i have 5 different directories on the desktop called
Dir1
Dir2
Dir3, etc...
i would like to get Dir3, then maybe Dir1, after that maybe Dir3 again, and so on. i want to get a random directory from the desktop...dont really know how to explain it any better...

I'm trying to write a program. This should be a simple task for most of you, but I have taken one class of programming back in High School so I'm kinda lost.
The program needs to do the following:
-Open AutoCAD File
-File=>Export=>PDF=>Save
-Close AutoCAD
If possible to select a whole folder full of these AutoCAD drawings and have the program run a loop until all the files in the folder have been exported into a pdf file.

I have an app that opens MS word. I then open Word's File open dialog and have it pointing to a specific directory to find a file for the user to open. What i cannot do is retrieve the file name the user selected to open. In a Window's fileopen dialog i can read the .fileopen property, however there doesn't seem to be a corresponding property to read in Word's dialog. Is this even possible? if so how do i do it?

I am using vb.net 2003. In my program, the user can use an openfile dialog box to locate the address of a image and use it to change the display. The name and path of the image is saved in a database. This image is then loaded upon startup. If the image is located in the start-up directory the image change and saving to the database works great. But if the image is located some where else the image change occurs, but the path of the database has changed to the location of the image. Since the database is not located there, I get an unhandle exception error. What is the code to redirect the program to my startup path?

How to change the database connection by using openfiledilog in windows forms? The application I need to do, need to connect to a database, each time with different path and different name to explore the opened database. All the databases to be accessed are having the same structure, but with different location (in the pc itself), different name, and with different data inside (but the database tables and relations are the same. I understand openfiledialog.filename contains the address for the clicked file, but failed to pass this information to update the Database conection with the new addrerss.

I can currently make a dialog1 pop up, then the user clicks "Yes" for dialog1, then dialog2 pops up, and if the user clicks "no" instead of "yes", dialog2 reappears again. I've got a headache now, but I will re-look over my code to see if there are logic errors.
I originally had dialog2 and form1 (the form1 was acting as dialog1). But The thing was that I do not how to give properties of a dialog to a form (i.e. not make the user be able to click other windows while this form is open) IF I could have code that says Me.bringtofront (which I have tried) didn't work though. If I apply this command to a form I get an error:
code: Form1.showdialog()
error: Please make form1 not visible. something a long those lines. But what I don't understand is form1 was never open.
What do the standard lines of code do?:
Me.DialogResult = System.Windows.Forms.DialogResult.OK
