I have an application with forms (VS2008) that prints a document, well, if I pass parameters in the command line like "C:MyApp.Exe Param1 Param2 Param3" I don't want the application to show the forms, this is:
-When passing parameters run as hidden
-When not passing parameters (like click with the mouse on the desktop) then show the forms
I've tried to use Sub Main but it just doesn't work
What I am looking for is using a URL link such as [URL] to open my application and read the params using GET. I do not want to use the click once method to do this, because I want the application to load up without the starting up bar at the topleft. I know it could be done but I could not find anywhere to do it at. You can see an example used over at curse.com where they use a link like [URL] to launch their app and download the item. Another example is with Ventrilo where you can use [URL] links to start vent and connect to a server. The reason I want this is because I plan to use it to give my customers a way to give their clients a way to connect to their servers with my software using a simple URL.
Switching from Microsofts Oracle Driver to ODP.NET version 10.2.0.100. After changing the data types to OracleDBTypes in a procedure, that worked perficetly using System.Data.OracleClient, the procedure fails if we try and pass in more that 20 parameters. The error returned is:

I'm using Jmchillney's formless tray application and I want to pass some parameters into it using some other application I have. Then I want the formless tray application to do some work with these inputs. How can I pass into an executable parameters from another executable? I want to send some parameters from Application A to Application B. If app B doesn't exist I want it result in an error message the app A to display an error message. If app B does exist, it will do some work with the parameters and return a result back to app A and that's it.
Suppose I have a function that accepts a string as parameter. But the parameter has a limited number of values (i.e. I've defined the function to work with only say, four exact strings). What I want is that when the user types the name of the function and starts the parentheses, the intellisense will show up giving the values that are defined in the function. Its just like a function that accepts a boolean parameter. The intellisense shows up giving the two values "True" and "False" when using the function.
Im trying to send data from a Windows Form to an aspx page and send back a response. Im running around in circles trying to make this work. The data im trying to send is 4 strings. So fare I have this in my code, using the build-in webclient in visual studio 2010, in the windows form sending to the aspx
Are there any good books out there that will show someone how to set up a form using Visual basic that will take information and send it to the server and then send a recipient an Email?
I am trying to send keys to a control on my form. But I am getting a NullReferenceException and I don't know why. The code is about as basic as it gets: [Code] The error reported is object reference not set to an instance of an object but Send is a shared method so doesn't need an instance. Strangely if I ignore the error it works fine and F4 is passed to the control. I know there was an issue with sendkeys and UAC but I thought this had been solved (I am using 4.0 framework).
i need to show my application name in the Send to List if the user right click on the pdf or tiff file i need to show my application name on the Send to list if the user click on the app name i need to copy the file to my app temp folder?
I have a form with 2 dateTimePickers and a SHOW button which gets data from an sql server database and displays it in a DataGridView. this works ok. I also have an EDIT button which brings up another form with textbox and comboBox controls displaying this one record. I want to be able to click in the DataGridView to select a Name and then click on the EDIT button to bring up the selected record. I don't know how to pass the ID as a parameter to this second form. Apart from that the EDIT button works, in the sense that I hard coded the ID (32 or 35 etc.) and it brings up the appropriate record. But how do i pass the selected ID. [Code]
In my MVC Web App I am running an ActionResult with the following signature: Public Function Create(ByVal article As Article_Ad) As ActionResult And in my ASPX page I have declared the following form which fields correspond to the model, which is strongly typed:
I have 2 forms, form1 and form2. Whenever user opens form2, I want form2 to get from form1 (which has a datagridview and filters), whatever the user filtered the datagridview by.
I'm writing a query to select all records that has any part of parameter. I have one table called Employees. Some people have name like this: John David Clark If the parameter is
[Code]....
I should be able to get result back as long as there's a match in the parameters. If I use Function Contains (q.FirstName & " " & q.LastName).Contains(employeeName), I will not get any result back if employeeName is "John Clark" Function Contains looks only for next words from left to right. It doesn't match a single word at a time. So that's why I used this in the Linq to SQL:
Private Sub Button3_Click_1(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button3.Click 'Para abrir un formulario independiente /Open independent form
I have a parent form that has a list of items and each item has a unique ID. The user can open one or many of the items in a child form (it is set up in a tabbed MDI), but it can only open one instance of each item at a time.
In the parent form, I was going to make a collection (or something like that, maybe there is a better way) to keep track of which items are open in the child forms. I need to know when each child is closed so that it can be removed from the collection and reopened at a later time. I was thinking that when the child form closes, it somehow does something (like raise an event) that tells the parent form to remove the unique ID from the list of current open child forms.
My questions are, is this a good way to do this and I am pretty sure I would use the form closed event in the child form to update that parent form, but as well, I didn't know if this is the best way of handling it.
If raising the event is a good way, are some examples on how to do it out there? I found some for controls, but not while the form is closing/closed.
I am getting error [07002] the # binded parameters < the # of parameters makers, i checked both parameters were perfect even though i am getting this error here is my code
I am developing a complicated search form, and I would like to know best method of passing search criteria to stored procedures.Possible options that I know are, 1) Create sql statements in Visual Basic and send statements to SP as strings to execute2) Pass search fields to stored procedure and build command in SP (Stored procedure) in database?
I'm new in .Net and I have an application with windows form "LOGIN" When users enter the user and password and click "ok", then if user passes validation then I have the code Show(MDIMainMenu) (I'm trying to open an mdi form), but I receive the following error: "Form that is already visible cannot be displayed as a modal dialog box. Set the form's visible property to false before calling Show. Error Number 5"
I have a program that uses two forms. The program opens to the Main form, and the user can navigate to the other form from the Main form through use of a button. Here's the way I've currently written it: When the Main form loads, it declares and instantiates the other form during the load procedure. When the user presses a button, the second form is displayed by means of the ShowDialog method. On the second form, there is a Return to Main Screen button which closes the second form, bringing the user back to the Main form.
So, here's the structure of the code:
Code: Public Class frmMainForm
Dim frmSecondForm As New SecondForm
Private Sub btnSecondForm_Click(blah, blah, blah) Handles blah, blah, blah
[CODE]...
Here's my reasoning: Originally, I wrote the code so that a new instance of the second form was created every time the button was pressed. The problem was that whatever data was displayed on the second form, previously, was lost when the user returned to it a second time. Since the user would be switching back and forth between these forms, frequently, I needed that data to persist.
What is the best practice for accomplishing this:
1) Declare and instantiate the second form on program start, as I have done, and use the button simply to show the form?
2) Declare and instantiate the second form each time the button is pressed but maintain the variables on the Main form and pass them ByRef to a custom constructor for the second form? Is this even possible?
Im trying to create a stopwatch in one form and another form show my progress bar using a combo box for mins and seconds to show the progress bar on form1 1
I am trying to use a progressbar to show on main form and then finish when next form is loaded, I have got this code.
1. When I click on button, it must open next form, but the next form must only open when the data in my list box has been loaded from Access Databse. When I run my program, it only shows the progressbar and don't open the next form.
Main form code:
Public Class Main
Dim PB As ProgressBar
Private Sub main_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load End Sub
Private Sub ShowDropDown() Using f As New DropDownForm f.Visible = True Do While f.Visible Application.DoEvents()
[Code]...
This was a guess, after looking at the Form.ShowDialog method in reflector. My question is, is there a managed call I can make to acheive the same result, and what does a button click do that other clicks don't?
ETA: The problem does not occur if I open the form using a key.
