View 4 RepliesI just been working with datetimepicker and I can't get it working if it is unchecked. When it is unchecked looks like it is not taking anything in. I can't load the value in it if it is unchecked which I need to have unchecked until the user ticks it by selecting the date.even if I am trying to trick it by doing this:
dtpCallback.Checked = True
If (Convert.IsDBNull(dsOrders.Tables(0).Rows(0)("callbackDate"))) Then
Else

I have a couple of textboxes whose databinding's text is set and also readonly is true and visible is false. but when I try to read their values they are all null unless I turn their visibilty to true. The same method is also needed to add a new row to the table (when using bindingsource1.addnew()).
View 9 RepliesThis may seem like a dumb question, but how do you set a default date for the datetimepicker or set today's date as default in the table?
For some reason the control (every instance I've inserted so far) returns a null value when I try to update rows without selecting or entering a specific date while the program is running. The date columns are required, and in at least one case I need the date to automatically return today's date.
In the properties I have chosen "values" for today's date, past dates, even future dates, but I keep getting the following error:
A first chance exception of type 'System.Data.NoNullAllowedException' occurred in System.Data.dll
When I review the details, VS tells me that the date column in question does not allow nulls. If I select a date while running the program, I don't get this error, so it seems like the default value is not getting set.
I am working through my new MVC book and of course, the samples are all in c# as usual. There is a line of code that says public bool? WillAttend { get; set; }
The author explains that the question mark indicates that this is a nullable (tri-state) bool that can be true, false. or null. (A new C# 3 convention.) Does vb.net support any convention like this. Certainly I can declare a boolean in vb.net and I can explicitly set it to Null (Nothing in vb.net).
I have a database that has null date values in it. When I call the columns from the database with the null datetime values and display it in the datetimepicker text box using a dataset, theres always values in the datetimepicker text box. It sets everything that was in the database with null values to the current date. This is what i have..
DateOPStartedRevisionDateTimePicker.Text = ds.Tables(0).Rows(0).Item(13).ToString
I just cant figure out a way to get the datetimepicker text box to display nothing if the values are null in the database.
I have about 7 different DateTimePickers that I populate with data from my database. In my database there are Date fields that are actually NULL like a date hasn't been set. I have allowed for this to happen but every time I load up the information into the DateTimePickers, a default date appears even if no data is there in the database. If there is no data, I want the DateTimePickers text to be nothing. Is there anyway around this annoying problem?

I have a date time picker bould to a Nullable Datetime field in a sql server datatable. The ShowCheckBox option is set to true. If the user unchecks the checkbox on the datetimepicker I would like to the field to be set back to null in the DataTable. The default behaveour does not seem to do this and there is no specific event for the uncheck.
Private Sub dtpCertDate_ValueChanged(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles dtpCertDate.ValueChanged

How can I get this to happen? I googled around and it seems setting the CUSTOM FORMAT to " " when the field is null will work but not for a BOUND datetimepicker.
View 12 RepliesIn C# and Vb.net,is any way without iterating by loop a bitarray to check contins any true or false value (Dotnet 2.0) ?

Nice simple one (I Hope) to start of the day. I have got a load of calculations going on and then a set of rules being checked after the calculations. I then have 9 booleans which check against the varibles. Basically I would like an easy way to check how many Booleans are False and how many are True.

I want to store true or false value based on the state of check box here is my insert statement, the problem is this this insert statement stores 1 or 0 instead of 1 or 0 i want to store true or false how to achieve this. [code]
View 3 RepliesI have put the DateTimePicker control on my Form and I have made it's CheckBox property to ture ,
Now I need to know is there any Event which is fired when the Check status of the checkbox in DateTimePicker is Changed.
When DateTimePicker check state changed,ValueChanged and TextChanged events don't work always.
View 8 RepliesHow can I know if I input a valid Birthday of a person in vb2005 windows base. If the user input the current date it must put a message that it is not a valid birthday.
View 8 RepliesIt looks like there is a bug in the DateTimePicker control, because I don't find any event specific for the changing the check state of the checkbox, only the ValueChanged event seems available. So that event should trigger every time the date in a dtp is changed manualy, or by choosing a date from the calender or when the checkbox in the dtp is checked or unchecked by clicking on it, the event ValueChanged should be triggered. But it doesn't do that all the time.
[Code]...
If DateTimePicker1.Value.Year <= DateTimePicker2.Value.Year Then 'dtp2 = expiry date
If DateTimePicker1.Value.Month <= DateTimePicker2.Value.Month Then
MsgBox("Expiry Date Correct!")
Else
MsgBox("Expiry Date incorrect!")
End If
End If
How would I get it to check the date? Datetimepicker1 is the current date, while Datetimepicker2 is the expiry date.
I have some code which gets child items for a menu via the GetChildren function which takes a list of menuData: Dim builtMenu As New List(Of MenuData)(_rawData.FindAll(Function(item) item.GroupingID = 0))
For Each menuData As MenuData In builtMenu
If menuData.Children IsNot Nothing Then
menuData.Children.AddRange(GetChildren(menuData))
End If
Next
If I check if menudata.children isnot nothing, it always is nothing because the GetChildren function is yet to run (providing the child items, which do exist). If I remove this check and just have this code:
Dim builtMenu As New List(Of MenuData)(_rawData.FindAll(Function(item) item.GroupingID = 0))
For Each menuData As MenuData In builtMenu
menuData.Children.AddRange(GetChildren(menuData))
Next
Then I am presented with a Object reference not set to an instance of an object error on menuData.Children.AddRange(GetChildren(menuData))
All I want to do is check if an object is null, but no matter what I do, if it compiles, it throws a NullReferenceException just trying to check! Here's what I've done:

I have a dataset. I'd like to check if one item in the dataset is null or zero.

Im trying to check my database for a null value. If the database is null, then I want it to start the timer, otherwise I want it to skip over some stuff and automatically load the main form.
I am trying to check to see if a DataSet is null or not. If it is I would like to show a MessageBox. For some reason it is not recognizing null returns and skipping the message box and going right to the Else commands. [code]....

I am working on a program that has many integers (q1, q2, etc.), and each of them can be 0 or 1. This is dependent on which radiobuttons are selected. I need it to check and make sure that all of the integers have a value, but since "Null" is the same as "0",
View 8 RepliesI have multiple textboxes that are saved using my settings and buttons to add them to the clipboard.
The problem is when the textbox is blank and I click on the copy button.
The saving to my.settings happens on close so when someone enters text that they plan on saving later and then clicks the copy button, whammo it crashes.
Here is the code that is failing and I need to check to make sure that there is a value before setting the text on the windows clipboard.[code]...
