I've been trying to open/show an application which is minimized to tray but without success.Sorry if this has already been discussed; kindly redirect me then.I've tried P/Invoke methods such as ShowWindow and SetForegroundWindow but these hasn't worked.
I have a vb.net program created in VS2008, winforms/desktop application. I have it on a timer event so that every 4 hours it rins some actions. When I minimize the application ot the system tray...after a seemingly random period of time....it will not maximize. It acts frozen however the program still runs and the timer events usually fire on time. I just can't get the main form back up to see the menus and interface with the program. I have tried doevents, refresh, getfocus etc... nothing seems to make it refresh.

We run a CRM package and one of the features that it lacks is the ability to Date and Time Stamp when someone updates an activity. I was wondering if it would be possible to write a vb.net application that would start minimized to the system tray and then assign a hotkey to this app, for example CTRL Shift and K, that would paste a date time stamp into what ever application was focused at the time.
This the code I used to minimized the form to the tray. It works perfectly using winXP but not in win7.Here's the screenshot:it must be minimized to tray. The code:
Private Sub NotifyIcon1_MouseDoubleClick(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventArgs) Handles NotifyIcon1.MouseDoubleClick Me.WindowState = FormWindowState.Normal
I wrote code for checking whether a particular process (Outlook.exe, in my case) is running or not. It is working fine when the Outlook window is open or minimized. But, when the Outlook is minimized to tray (which on the right side of taskbar), my code is not identifying the process.Could anyone please suggest me a way to get the process of Outlook (or any other program) that is minimized to tray?
I have a custom app which I deploy to my Win7 users, the app sets up a tray icon which is automatically hidden by the OS. The user then has to manually change the settings of the System Tray to always display my app's icon. What can I do when installing my app on Win7 to make the icon show in the System Tray without user-intervention?
I´ve got a Full Screen app witch launches other app and wait until it has been closed, when it detects that, the first application is launched again full sceen with this source code:
currently my VB Skills aren't so good so bare with me here. application to be able to send keystrokes to another without having it popup. Like it should remain minimized, it shouldn't interfere with whatever you are doing on your PC while it sends the strokes. I received this request from some one else to do. So basically I just need to get focus to the application while it remains minimized and send keystrokes.
I have an application I run on a netbook that is folded up inside a robot.Occasionally, something from the system tray will pop up unexpectedly. This removes the focus from my application I also thought there was a way (in forms properties in the vb6 days) that would allow to "run when minimized"? In short, I want this application to be running and nothing (asides an application error message) else getting in the way.
I have designed a windows form(to act as a messagebox) with Label and OK, Cancel buttons. I'm on form1 and call this messagebox form in the closing event. If I debug the showdialog of the messagebox form the custom text is displayed on the Label, however if the application is minimized and when i right click on the application in taskbar and select close window then the messagebox form is poped up however the label doesn't show the custom text.
I have a multi-threaded tray application. I basically need it to shut down. I do some loops to close down threads, and that does work well. However, if message boxes are open in the UI, this usually prevents shut down. I tried End and Environment.Exit. Thoughts?
my program has a tray icon and i want it to show up in the system tray. so i went into my windows notification area and set it to show icon for my app. But when my app update to a new version with clickonce, it will think its a new app and i have to set it again. Is there a way that it will treat all new version as the same program and i dont have to keep setting it?
I am observing some errors, resulting in invisible application and disappeared icon. I am starting it from HKCUSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRun.[code]...
i want to write a program that runs ONLY in system tray, and when i click on it it shows a context menu.. everything i already know, but..
My program shows up in menu, when i click Alt + Tab, or Win + Tab.. A made it invisible, hidden, changed the transparency to 0, but still it shows up..
I am having an applciation running in system tray notification area, but the problem is that although I exit the application the icon is still there, when I point my mouse near notification area it's gone as it should be when I clicked on exit. I guess it is because my mouse position makes the area to refresh, if so, how can I do it inside my application to avoid having my useless icon in there?
I'm wanting to develop what I perceive to be a pretty simple application. I want something that runs in the system tray that tests for the presence of a particular file on a network drive. If the file does not exist, the icon in the system tray is a green circle (like a traffic light). If the file DOES exist, then the system tray icon is a yellow circle (caution), until the user clicks it (the yellow system tray icon), and a record is written to another file, then the system tray icon changes to a red (stop) circle until that first file we tested for is gone.I'd also like to create "balloon messages" to go with the changes in the system tray icon.
I have googled this and found older vb codes that do not work in 2010. The user, in this case a "cheater/hacker" isn't suppose to be aware of a running program that checks memory and some other information. I have succesfully read the values of certain memory adresses in my program, now I need to send those values to another program secretly opened as a date and time sort of thing. The program checks for malicius attempts to edit memory or edit information inside the software and it automaticly deletes all the data or does a "ban" if somebody attempts to freeze memory and edit it.
So the problem is how to send this data to program out of focus, I can send strings with appactivate but it will open my security program to screen everytime memory changes witch is almost every milisecond so it's almost useless cause it keeps switching focus. I need something to send it out of focus, so my question is;
I make a hook between my program and my security program, send messages/strings out of focus or in tray? Also it would be good if I could make my program "invisible" so he can't be seen even in tray and still keep working.
This is what I'm trying to accomplish: I have a Point of Sale application that integrates with a credit card processesor. I wan't to remove any user interfacing logic in regards to the credit card processor in the point of sale and add it to a application that sits in the background or system tray. I want to be able to send a command to the background app to popup a form for user input.
For example: User in the Point of Sale clicks a button "Credit Card" at this point it will send a command to the background app say "ProcessCC" which will pass a transactionid and an amount , this will open a form for the user to enter in the credit card information and submit the payment to the credit card proccessor.
Reason: I need to get a padss certification and don't want to submit the point of sale to do it. Rather send the simple background app that will control any credit card processing functionality such as encryption , storing etc. I know it can be done using sockets but was hopping for an alternative solution.
I found some great code on capturing webcam images but the problem is the client PC will need to initiate the communication to this server (click Connect to server IP). This is like 2 way communication. How can i do something like this (door Kiosk system):when a visitor press a button on the LCD that come along a web cam (this will be the server), it will send the signal the client PC that is installed with the application i've created (window form) and pop up the images to the client PC (more like a 1 way communication). This image is captured through the web cam on the server to capture the visotor's image waiting outside of the door. How to do this?I'm really stuck as i'm not familiar with window API programming yet.
1) how to do the mentioned 1 way communication? possible in .NET?
2) how to make my application to be at the tray icon just next to the time displayed on the right bottom corner of the task bar? When a visitor press a button o the server, it will pop up a window form on the client PC showing the image captured via the server's webcam outside of the door.
I imported some code I found a few months ago for a client server messaging program from vs2003 and everything appeared to be ok, apart from a couple of niggles such as the windows form designer generated code being visible on the main form code page but i could live with that. I just tried to add a splash screen but when I went to the application tab to set it up there is no enable application framework checkbox and no windows application framework groupbox. I tried running my application again and now the xp visual style has gone and it looks terrible, is there anyway to get the application framework back on again or do I have to start a new project and copy and past all my code into the new project.
I have Visual Studio 2008 Professional and I'm trying to make it so I can click a button to send the application to the System Tray and then click the icon in the System Tray to make the application come back.
Can anyone provide me a method or sample code to do this?
When it is run, screesavers and screenoff is prevented somehow.. I have narrowed it down to this code.
[code...]
The above code is what makes it possible for my application to active two forms when only one is activated.. But it is somehow this code that prevents my screensavers and power settings from working.. Do you have any idea how to change the code so it doesnt prevent my screensavers and power settings?
I have in a console application. I need the program to show a OpenFileDialog window when certain text is entered, such as "file". I've tried doing this and I cannot get it to work.
