Prospective clients can download the installer from a web page after filling out their contact details. This works fine
I would like to be able to auto run the installer after the download is complete
When the user clicks the Exit button it closes the forms and if there was an open file it asks the user is they would like to save. But after the application closes there is still memory being held in Processes by the application. However, when pressing the [X] in the top of the form the application closes again but in this instance it is not held in Processes. How do I write the close for Exit to take into account how the [X] works and close the application cleanly?

I am creating a VBA application using Excel 2007 and would like to make virtually all of the standard Office and Excel menus invisible to the user and present to the user only my custom menu controls. I have been successful in doing this for all objects on the Ribbon as well as those on the Microsoft Office Button Menu, with the exception of the "recently opened files list" box, that also has the "Excel Options" and "Exit Excel" buttons on it. Can anyone tell me the name of the object for this control so that I can make it invisible?

I am seeking advice or clarification of feasibility.Ihave a VB.NET (2008) application that, as an administrative tool,generates a user id, password and business role, and creates a file on disk with the aforementioned as content. Because in one my project, this does make diff. If I click the button on the form, the App works great but same button if I click it thru the form code, the whole process crashes. This happens in Vista / VB.net.

View 6 RepliesI'm trying to make a thumbnail toolbar button (TTB from now on)visible when the it is clicked. I know how to do stuff when it is clicked, AddHandler etc. But if I tell it TTB.visible=false then it doesn't become invisible. If I put TTB.enabled = False it will be disabled, so it's only the visible that isn't working.
Also I put a button on my form (not a TTB) and when that is click wrote, TTB.visible = false and that didn't work, so there is no way to make it invisible.
How can i call another button by just clicking on one button?

When you use enter button on the keyboard it doesnt work.Is there anyway I can allow enter button also to be used rather than ONLY clicking 'OK' button.

I'm currently developing an application for a POS Terminal using VB.net. Our project is approaching the last stage of development and I've been tasked to create 2 installers. 1 for Initial Installation, and the other for upgrade installation.
The project is composed of several elements. These are:
1. The application executable
2. Common DLLs that we developed
3. some resources (.resx and XML)
The requirement for the upgrade installer is that only those files with modification should be installed. (i.e. if only the xml or resx files are modified those are the only items that will be reinstalled, since the size of the upgrade installer is a consideration so we cannot reinstall everything).
I'm using Visual Studio 2005 for my deployment project but I'm a bit confused about how to set the properties of each file in such a way that during the upgrade, only the files that were modified would be updated and the rest of the files will not be removed since I'm setting RemovePreviousVersion property to True. I have a hunch that I need to do something with the custom action but I haven't been able to figure it out. The upgrade installer setup is almost the same as the initial installer except that all files are excluded.I tried to acquire a copy of Phil Wilson's book (The definitive guide to Windows Installer) but its not available in our local bookstore and it would take too long to order it.
Basically while tinkering with the settings/properties there are instances where the dll was not updated and there are also times when the application exe was removed.
I already verified that the Product code is the same for both installers and that I'm sure that the version number is being incremented for each upgrade.
If I will be redoing both installers from scratch, how should I go about it?
I'm also confused about the Condition property and the transitive property.
Triying to use the built in Visual Studio 2010 to install a couple of files and after that is done to run another installer package (3rd Party Installation Wizard).
