We have a VB web application that for some reason breaks when some clients run Windows Updates. To resolve the issue we have to force the application to recompile on the servers where the application is installed. In some instances we must do this multiple times and/or restart IIS as well to resolve the issue.
This didn't start happening until October of 2009, and then suddenly it happened all the time... but not for every client, and not with every update. It continues to happen and we have been at a loss to understand why. Is anyone else experiencing this issue or found a way around it? If there is something in our code that we can alter to keep this from happening I would love to know about it, as we spend time and resources troubleshooting and resolving an issue that doesn't exist until a Windows update runs and our application becomes un-usable until resolved.
I encounter this error as mention in the subject line. I just change from windows XP 32 bits to windows 7 64 bits, and the following code were working fine in windows XP, but in windows 7 I get ambiguous namespace for all the DIM cnn As New ADODB.Connection and DIM rst As New ADODB.Recordset.I Have no idea what is going on.However, the exe that is created from my old XP runs fine on both XP and Windows 7 32 bits but not the Win7 64 bits.

Using Visual Studio 8. On old computer, my application works. When installed on a new computer I get an error message:
Line of code causing error: Dim WordApp As New Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word.Application
Error message: Error 103 'Application' is ambiguous in the namespace
Both computers reference:
C:WindowsassemblyGACMicrosoft.Office.Interop.Outlook12.0.0.0__71e9bce111e9429cMicrosoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.dll Old computer is 32 bit XP. New computer is 64 bit Windows 7.
This line is throwing the error; Public WithEvents CurrentDoc As mshtml.HTMLDocument Researching the error tells me that HTMLDocument isn't fully qualified. Isn't this fully qualified? If I change it to Microsoft.mshtml.HTMLDocument then it says it's not defined.
I have imports namespace System.Data.SqlClient.I just create object of SqlConnection,But error is there- 'SqlConnection' is ambiguous in the namespace 'System.Data.SqlClient'.
Function ExecuteAndLogError(Of TResult)(ByVal code As Func(Of TResult), _ByVal sql As String, _Optional ByVal parameters As SqlParameterCollection = Nothing) As TResult End Function
I am getting this compiler error : 'Func' is ambiguous in the namespace 'System'.
I'm currently working on an existing ASP.NET project. At the moment I have to integrate a new componant so for that purpose I had to change the framework target from 2.0 to 3.5. After regenerating the solution, I'm now dealing with a strange issue.
And the last line returns that error 'ScriptServiceAttribute' is ambiguous in the namespace 'System.Web.Script.Services'I have definitely no clue what's going on in my code ?! Is it an internal error of the ScriptService constructor ?
I am creating class libraries in my project so that I can update code without having to update the whole app.I created a class library project and added some code to it. I also added a reference to System.Data.SqlClient and also imported it into the class file.I am getting an error and I have never seen it before. Been looking online and not able to find an answer yet.
As I say, I've got an application which I'll refer to as "AppName" (note the upper case 'A' and 'N') which, for example, attempts to reference "My.Application.Info.ProductName". Adding a breakpoint and putting a QuickWatch on that call shows the error:
i used printForm to print forms, but when i installed the powerpack 3.0 it doesn't work anymore.i am always getting an error "PrintForm is ambiguous in the namespace 'Microsoft.VisualBasic.PowerPacks.Printing'" i am using visual studio 2008 professional edition.
I have a project which opens a simple Excel file and populates it. It was working fine until this morning, when it has suddenly started giving me the error above: 'Application' is ambiguous in the namespace 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel'.I haven't changed any project references, or anything within the file itself. The references include Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel. The imports statement is there: importsMicrosoft.Office.InteropThe object declaration is also complete: Dim xl AsMicrosoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Application which is the line that's giving me the error!
I'm getting a ton of errors like this when attempting to build an empty VB.NET project: 'GenerateCodeAttribute' is ambiguous in the namespace 'System.CodeDom.Compiler' Is this some problem with my .NET installation?
I'm using the TcpClient and TcpListener classes to read/write to the network when a request comes in on port 25. All I'm trying to do at the moment is make it so that my server program can receive SMTP messages from other SMTP servers. I've tested in Telnet - if I connect to my own IP on port 25 and type EHLO, MAIL FROM, RCPT TO, DATA etc then all works as it should and the details I entered are logged by the program (it doesnt do anything about delivering these details/email yet).all looks good... but then when I try and just send an email to my domain from my work account I can see that a connection is made to my program and the string "EHLO workdomain.com " is received by my program - my program responds to the remote SMTP server with "250-mydomain.com Hello" and then a CrLF and then "250-OK". After that point however, my app does not receive anything further at all from the server at work. I'm guessing I am doing something wrong with the data I'm returning when it sends EHLO but can anyone point me in the correct direction?
I was using telnet to test with, it seems that I have made it work only with telnet. In telnet each time I type a key the data is passed to the server, however with a real SMTP server it just sends each entire command in one go. So after altering my server a little I can now get it to respond with the 250-OK which I thought it already was doing.. but it still doesnt work. The remote server just sends EHLO and then thats it nothing more.Something interesting, at the moment I am ending all of my responses to the remote server with VbLf - if I change this to VbCrLf (which is what I believe it is meant to be according to the SMTP standard) then I get an infinite amount of empty strings sent to my program (or perhaps some other character that just shows as an empty string in intellisense when stepping through the code). Changing it back to just vbLf or ControlChars.Lf makes it go back to just sending EHLO and then nothing else..
I need to read an xml document from a database record into an XDocument object in order for it to be deserialized. So that the deserialization will work, I need to apply a specific namespace to each of the level 1 elements. So XML looks a bit like this:
[Code]...
How do I prevent the blank/empty namespace being added to each child element of the element to which the required namespace has been applied?
I use SmtpMail for users to forward site content. The user fills out a form which includes first name and email. The email sent has the full email address as the "From address" in the recipients inbox
This class is located in the namespace Acme.Infrastructure.Interface.A class with the same name EventArgs exists in the System namespace. In another project in my solution I have a class Acme.BusinessModules.MyModule.MyClass.When attempting to use the EventArgs class I have to fully qualify the class name or the compiler thinks I am using the System.EventArgs class. My understanding of namespace resolution was that the compiler would first look for the class in the current namespace, and then its parents. It seems that the compiler checks in System before it checks in sibling namespaces. Is it correct that System is checked before the sibling? Or is this behaviour caused by other issues (Imports order?)?
I am having trouble doing something that is probably pretty simple!I have a stock listing that is done by 1) a simple form with parameters (Index) and 2) an ajax called partial view that displays the list of stock (based on the params). On this same simple form (Index) I have an action link to an "Add Stock" method which calls another form for adding stock. When the user has finished adding the stock I redirect them back to the stock list page (Index).
My issue is that I would like to "remember" the parameters that were initially entered in this form so the user isn't just directed back to a page with blank parameters forcing them to enter them again.I thought I could simply overload the Index method as such:
[Code]...
I get this error: The current request for action 'Index' on controller type 'StockController' is ambiguous between the following action methods:.Now I have read this post and it's answer but I cannot figure out how to implement the solution. Is this solution applicable in my situation? Is there a better way to acheive what I'm trying to do?
I use asp.net user management in my Website.(ASP.NET 3.5) Everything has been working fine while developing and test via VS2010 on Win7. But when I compile and publish the site throws the error:
Compiler Error Message: BC30554: 'ProfileCommon' is ambiguous. Line 55: End Sub Line 56: Line 57: Protected ReadOnly Property Profile() As ProfileCommon
