I use a listview control which is created at runtime because I don't need it visible to the user. I basically use it to store some information about paths, sort it and then pick out the data I need. It works very well apart from it doesn't seem to sort. For efficiency, I turn off sorting on the listview while the data is being added then enable sorting on the listview at the end. However, the sorting doesn't work. Is this because the listview isn't visible or am I just being daft?
I have a ListView which might contains a lot of items, so it is virtualized and recycling items. It does not use sort. I need to refresh some value display, but when there are too many items, it is too slow to update everything, so I would like to refresh only the visible items. How could I get a list of all currently displayed items ? I tried to look into the ListView or in the ScrollViewer, but I still have no idea... the solution must NOT go throught all items to test if they can be seen, because this would be too slow.I'm not sure code or xaml would be usefull, it is just a Virtualized/Recycling ListView with its ItemSource bound to an Array.
Is there anyway to tell if a scroll bar is visible in a listview?
When I'M drawing the listviewitem, I need to know if the vertical scrollbar is visible so I can make sure to make my item's width smaller than it normally should be.
I tried getting CodeOrder snippet working but it really messup all my tables and such when I try to add for other groups sorting first 3 works fine but when I try to add more everything gets strange. Here are my snippets: Form1.vb [URL] Form1.Designer.vb [URL]
With the Listview in Details view:When showing a long (scrolling) list:Is there an (easy) way to return the index's of which range of items are currently visible in the control?
First off i just want to take a bow to all the vb gods out there..I am trying to implement the sorting class form article 319399 in the knowledge base [URl]..on step number 6 it says to "Paste the following code into the ColumnClick event for the ListView:"so i created a sub to handle the ColumnClick event
I am trying to sort my ListView in both ascending and descending order when I click on column headers in Details View. When I click on it, it is able to sort one way, but subsequent clicks don't cause any more sorting to occur. I am attempting to follow the examples shown on the msdn site:[URL].. Here is what I have so far:
I have a two-column ListView linked to a Datapager. The ListView lists all files of a particular type in a particular directory, so the data source is an ArrayList of type FileInfo. Consequently, I had to create a Comparer class to use in the ArrayList.Sort method.
I have a routine whereby kids do some tests and are awarded scores. These scores are put in a ListView with their names. The snag arises when sorting! It's ok in single figures but at 10 and over it is no go! It is only in the first column that the scores are put. I believe the method is in collections and compares - am I right? So how can this be simply done? In all the bits of code I've managed to get hold of I get lots of words underlined in blue and have no idea what the explanations mean. Some such things are, "IComparer".
I'm using Visual Basic Express 2008 and I need to upload and sort two data text files (notepad) in a listview box. It doesn't have to be a listview box I chose that because it has nice options for columns. Anyway I've got the code set up to open the dialog box and allow the upload of multiple files. I've also got it set up to show separate columns, movie titles and box office amounts, titles in one file box office amount in the other. What I nee sorting the data once it's uploaded so the movie titles show in one column and the box office amounts show in another. Currently everything is showing in the left most column. I'd like to be able to represent the data seperately also so I can format the dollar amounts into currency. Here's what I've got so far:
Private Sub LoadButton_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles LoadButton.Click Dim DialogBoxResults As System.Windows.Forms.OpenFileDialog
I have a listview with items. I have a sorting class to do it. However when something is changeing my Listview control.
There are 3 colums. All items for each column exists in an struct with 3 items, one for each column. I have checked that I have all data in the array. But when I loop trough array of items and add then to the Listview, then many items in column 2 and 3 is not showing up.... This happens only after I have used the sorting class.[code...]
I have a ListView w/filename, data, time and size fields. I've copied the code from this article [URL] to use in my solution. Problem is, when I click a column header the first time, it sorts, but when I click the same header a second time, to sort in reverse, the column stays in the same order as it was just sorted in.
I've got a panel - that's in a group box. All of this - with lots of other textboxes on labels - is in another panel (the big panel).I make the big panel visible and not visible based on selections made by the user. This small panel - that's in the group box. I cannot seem to make it appear.Even if I leave it VISIBLE at design time - the objects in it will not appear. Is there some kind of nesting problem that I'm not aware of!
I have five menu items that i have created as a user control and placed on the master page. Now i want one of the menu items to be visible only for particular user role and not visible for others. Here is what I did. Its not working though.
I'm having an odd problem when making a form visible and not visible and it not continuing to function. Here is what I have happening. I have a main form (frmMain) that is an MDIParent. On this form I have a menu to open a second form (frmCalculate) and populate a listview from Items in the database.
As I click or select items in the listview on frmCalculate the tag is read and data is pulled based on the id stored in that tag and fills in various fields on the form. This works great. However, I also have a context menu attached to the listview that allows me to perform a "what if" scenerio on the items I am calculating. When I select this menu, I hide the frmCalculate and open the frmWhatIf form where I can mess around with values on the item I had hilighted in the listview on frmCalculate. Nothing is pulled from or written back to the database here, all the information is filled in from fields on frmCalculate. It just allows me to look at rising costs and how they will affect my margins.... anyway.
If I then close frmWhatIf, it brings my frmCalculate back by setting its visible propery to true (never closed frmCalculate, just hid it). At this point if I click an item in the listview I get an exception for a null reference. IF however I never hide frmCalculate, I can open and close frmWhatIF without ever having an issue. Why do I lose the functionality to select items just by hiding and unhiding the form? As a test I added two menus to the toolbar on frmMain one called hide and one called show. I then opened frmCalculate with original menu item to populate the listview and selected a few items to test that it was working and then using the hide menu I made the form invisible and the show button to bring it back. This yielded the same exception so without even opening frmWhatIf the problem still occurs.
I'm having my program sort an excel sheet by a few columns. However, it is only sorting by the first column not the rest that I specify.ere is my sort code below:
I have a WPF ObservableCollection which is bound to a ListBox and I have a Sort() method which when called will convert the ObservableCollection to a List(Of T), and undertakes a sort based on a date/time column within the collection.
The data is sorted, even when new items are added to the ObservableCollection, however the date/time isn't being correctly sorted. The data is sorting based on the date however it is very much random when it comes to the time portion. The following is an example of the outcomes I am experiencing:
[Code]...
Is there anything that I am doing incorrectly in this method that would cause the time portion not be included in the sort? Is there a better way of doing a sort?
I have placed several PictureBox Images of different colored dots(which represent lights) on an image of a Christmas Tree. I can make the lights randomly flash using a randomGenerator and a Select case statement. However, the code is very long. There are 67 lights on this tree and the code is 71 pages long. There has to be an easier way to do this. So far I have tried the following with two images of lights just to see if it would work and it does not work:
Below is the exception code info. when I try to make form visible for the first time from another form then I get an exception code. something like 'a required variable not set'
I have 3 forms, one frmMain - main form, second is frmUserType- childform, and the last frmCreateUserType. In the main form I have a menu item to open my frmUserType, In this form I have a button to open another form which is my frmCreateUserType, In this form I have a button to add records then update the listview in frmUserType. The problem is the listview will not access with my add button control in frmCreateUserType. I tried not to used mdiparent declaration for my frmMain and frmUserType as children and it works, so meaning that the problem is showing my frmUserType as childform?I am using vb.net 2008
Code to open my second form (frmUserType)
[CODE]...........
Code for my add button to update the listview in frmUserType
I have a media browser program I am building. I am trying to use drag/drop so a user can drag media tracks from one listview to another listview and then use the second list view as a playlist in windows media player com object. Reading at MSDN I have found out that there is no built in support for item re-ordering with the listview control. I have listview1 working correctly but when I try to reorder items in listview2, the dragged item ends up at the end of the list. So basically I need to get the item insertion index corrected. I have tried more than 10 times to get this code right.
Here is my code which includes a form with two listview's.
Public Class Form1
Private Sub ListView_ItemDrag(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As _ System.Windows.Forms.ItemDragEventArgs) Handles ListView1.ItemDrag, _ ListView2.ItemDrag
I have two listview in a separate form, basically what i want to do is whenever I select a row in my first listview the items in that selected row will be copied in my second listview which is empty.
