Aug 15, 2011I am not really sure where my syntax error is. I have gone over it several times and it appears everything is right and I dont think I am using any reserved words.x is TEXT in access for now even fields that would normally be numbers.

Nov 13, 2009I have a project which contains a large number of lookup tables, and I have all of these lookup tables represented in a single typed DataSet, which contains TableAdapters for each lookup. I've designed an editor for these lookup tables, which should allow editing of one of these at a time. My front-end is written in VB and WinForms, the back-end is a SOAP web service; I can successfully pass the changes to the DataSet back to the web service, but can't find a way to use a TableAdapter to update the single table that has been changed.
What I'm trying to do is instantiate the appropriate TableAdapter for the updated DataTable by sending the name of the table back to the web service along with the DataSet, then referring to the TableAdapter with a dynamic name. The normal way to instantiate a TableAdapter is this:
Dim ta As New dsLookupsTableAdapters.tlkpMyTableTableAdapter
What I'd like to do is this, but of course it doesn't work:

Dim ta As New dsLookupsTableAdapters(strTableName & "TableAdapter")
Is there any way to achieve this, or am I taking the wrong approach altogether? My other alternative is to write separate code for each table, which I'd prefer to avoid!

Jul 14, 2011process is user selects a gridview item it redirects them to the update page and using a datareader, fills the text boxes and check boxes based on the id passed in the url the user can then make their changes to the text boxes/ check boxes and then press the update button which runs the update query. what i have found is happening is that although a user might change the text, when they submit the changes, the update query is still using whatever was loaded into that text box by the data reader on the page load. Feb 16, 2011When I try to add an Update query, then open the Query Builder, I get an error saying: Error in table name or view name in UPDATE clause. Unable to parse query text. The only code that is in the Query Builder is UPDATE How would I fix this? If this is needed, the table name is Authentication, column names are AuthKeys, and Available.

adapter.fill will just add duplicates, but adapter.clear before that is not an option.
