I have an .net app that I created using visual studio 2005 and it also incorporates an autocad .api; therefore, in the project properties, under the application type, I have it listed as a class library.
I'd like to see if I can incorporate a splash screen; however, all the material i read indicates that I need to set the application type as a windows app in order to set the splash screen as the startup form.
I was able to tell the form to load...with out the use of this setting; however, I don't know how to tell the screen to only display for x amount of time. The example code suggests that i create an OnInitializer method by loading the app events..which i'm unable to do.
I put my standard About Box and Splash Screen into a code library along with a number of other stadard things I use. The about box works fine in that I can instantiate a local version and then show.
My question is how can I select the splash screen out of the dll? The drop down box on the Properties page only shows forms in this project.
In C# I can instantiate the splash screen manually before the intialization process and then hide afterword. Is there a similar way in VB?
I'm trying to create a DLL with some useful methods and subs for my use. But when I tried declaring an object for Form or using the keyword Screen, Bitmap, etc.. gives an error saying that "The type 'Screen' is not defined" and like that..
How do I reference the library project when I get this error?

as the splash screen in the application settings. I tried that earlier and it got me nowhere. On the main form's load event I show the splash screen. All that seems to work. What doesn't work is getting an update to the splash screen. Actually the function gets called and the label control text gets changed

I have changed the startup project to the reports.vb where reports.vb holds the Class reports but i have an error, object reference not set to an instance of an object. I am able to click around in the prog and have the same functionality but the cursor is a wait cursor .[code]...

I need that my application have a splash screen, this splash must update a label with messages that i sent from the main form constructor, in the end of the constructor i need to close the splash, the splash must accept key presses, so if the user press some keys I'll show the login screen, by default the login it's the same of the machine, and this is useful for debugging/tests purposes.Basically i need to send text to another thread, and get a boolean value from the same thread to know if the user pressed the correct combination of keys to show the login form.
