I'm trying to write a utility that will split a string into known words, for example[code]...
What's the best way to go about this, I imagine i'm going to need to store a collection of known words from a dictionary in memory then iterate through them, but i'm struggling to see where to start.

MVC 3. Vb.net. Part of my app generates PDF files using Itextsharp. Some strings are too long to go onto the background image correctly. So I basically need to split this string when its over 26 characters long and when it splits it cant split in the middle of a word. from there I will use newline to add the string to the right to the next line... I did start bulding the function that I will pass the string into test for length and then pass back the string after it finishes.

I'm using the code below to take a string and split it up into an array. It will take: Disney Land and make it two separate elements. If the string contains "Disney Land" then it is one element in the array. Works great, however it adds some empty elements to the array each time. So I just iterate over the elements and remove them if they are empty. Is there a tweak to the code below that will prevent those empty elements from occurring?

I'm trying to split a Yahoo historical stock price csv file, downloaded into a string, by what looks like a space character. I want a new row for each split. The split function works for other characters I see in the string. I suspect the characters may be a non breaking space character but I've been unable to split on them. No I know I can break string1 up by space character and check if each word appears in string 2, I would prefer to not have to do that.If there some sought of regex that would take a group of words and retrun how many of them matched ?

This writes the code like this

So it's adding an extra Ref where it shouldn't be because there is no data after the last -
Is there a way to stop this adding in the extra one?

However the words within the string will never remain constant and the characters before and after will change. Is there anything that will read the string and take a word from the string without it being pre-programmed. The string it is reading from is uploaded from a text file.
