Jun 30, 2011is there a way to write everything embedded to a tempfolder not just dlls , everything in resources and assign a process to a button from there ?

Feb 28, 2011I have made my application to start automaticly when windows start (registry ../currentversion/run/appname + path). In this mode the application start minimized and an little icon appear in the notification icon area. With this icon you can maximize the app or exit it.If you exit the app and start it again using the Menu (Start/programs etc) than the application start in minimized mode (and in this case I would like to have it in normal mode) because the setting autostart is still true.Is there a way you can detect when the application start when windows startup using the above registry or when people click on an icon in the programs menu (or desktop)?

Jul 24, 2011I have custom asynchronous WebRequest class that I am testing to find out how fast the request will be cancelled and found some odd results, that starting 6 WebRequests with TPL and cancelling them right away takes 25 sec, but when I used just regular background threads it took only 5 sec.
Update: Running them without cancelling takes with Task.Start 9 sec and Thread.Start 3 sec accordingly.

Aug 4, 2009I'm using Process.Start to start an external command line application and using the StartInfo.Arguments method to send parameters to the application. I imagine I'll need to use a loop... but I can't figure out exactly how yet.I need to send anywhere from 1 - an infinite number of files names to this application. Each file has to be sent one after the other. So once the first one is done, I need to loop back around and past the second one.I can probably use the Directory.GetFiles method to get all of the files, but I don't know how to assign them.

I want application # 1 to start another application (application #2) without Administrator privileges so application #2 is running as a standard user.

I've commented out various things to limit it to specifically this command (example, I can swap mklink out with notepad and it works fine). The command runs fine from a DOS window, but can't be found when I use it this way. I also tried using the SHELL command just to test and I get the same results. No idea why it can't be found, as like I said it executes from the command prompt just fine.

Feb 8, 2012I am writing an application that in the end needs to execute another executable at some point, the problem is that the executable has dependencies in the directory it runs in that are required to operate. When I use the Process.Start to run the executable it errors out because it's looking for the dependencies in my applications directory.
I tried the startInfo.WorkingDirectory option but that didn't seem to do it either (not sure if I did it right) - here is how I used that:

When I click to add a resident, the last name field on the data grid view is highlighted in blue below the last record that already exists.If I try to start typing without clicking in that cell, the facility changes - it looks like the control is still in the facility drop down box. How To Set Value In The Embedded Combobox
Feb 16, 2012I have a workbook from an external party (let's call it wb_Client for reference purposes) containing two embedded combo boxes. The combo boxes show up in the formula bar as =EMBED("Forms.ComboBox.1",""). It seems that these combo boxes have their own name because in the spot where you normally see the cell ID (e.g. B14), I now see names. Combo box 1 is called "cmb_Fruit", and the second combo box is called "cmb_Country". Both combo boxes have drop down lists. The first combo box has the choices "Apple", "Orange" and "Pear". The second combo box has the choices "UK", "US" and "France".
Normally, if I open wb_Client (simply by double clicking on the file) the values of the combo boxes are "Apple" and "UK" by default. Suppose that, for example, cell "B10" represents the unit price, and that this number is 0.80. Next, if I change the combo boxes to "Pear" and "US", cell "B10" updates to 0.50. And the 0.50 is what I am interested in.
I only need this process to be automated. Thus, using my own workbook and some coding, I need to open wb_Client, set the value in the drop down list of combo box 1 to "Pear" and in the drop down list of combo box 2 to "US". Maybe I need some code to update/calculate the worksheet, and then grab the value from cell "B10". So the main problem is how to set the value in the combo boxes. How do I do this?

May 18, 2011I am embedding an xsd file into my console program so I can use it to parse XML files into a datatable which I then will parse and process into a text file and into a database. I have embedded the file and can access it by going to My.Resources.LinerTester. This will return a string, but in order to use it on the Dataset.ReadXmlSchema method I have to convert it to an XSD, otherwise I get an error saying invalid characters. How can I take the embedded resource and convert it to an XSD file? I know the XSD file works fine, if I read it from a location on the hard drive it will process the XML files into a dataset just fine, so the file itself is valid.
