Well I'm using VB 2010 and I need my 'Sub Main' coding to start before my forms do. But I can't find the Start Up Object combo list anywhere! I can find a Start Up Form combo list, but (as the name suggests) it only lists my various forms. I need my 'Sub Main' coding to start first!
View 5 RepliesI am getting an error when i try to populate some combo boxes with a value, the combo box has values in and the right amount the code is getting the right number.
the error msg is "Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
After reading all the examples for list of T exists and Find and find first, none show how to handle multi-property objects. Below is bare bones example maybe someone could flesh out to show how this should be done.

Limited to using v2.0 of .Net framework (we use VB.net) due to environmental constraints on our servers.I've got an ASP.net webpage which pulls data from a webservice that performs checks on user accounts in active directory. Operators can check multiple accounts at one time using the web interface. The webservice returns a list(of AccountCheck) objects which themselves contain single properties like username, email address, and List(of AccountError) objects which contain multiple properties.[code]What I want to do is using some kind of repeater, create multiple panels or divs which contain labels showing the username, email etc, and a gridview which has the accounterror list bound to it to show all the errors. The users could be checking 2, 5, 7 accounts at once, and is dynamic.

I have successfully populated cmbIGDefaultSpacer with the color options that are available but can't manage to have it set the current color as the index. (I can, however, display the current color in a text box, so I know that the necessary values are being passed to the form.) I am working in VB.net and have a Class, Foo, that implements an interface, IBar.I have a List of Foo's, but I need to pass a list of IBar's into a function, but I keep getting casting errors, even when I use DirectCast.My code is [code]MainWorks works, but it would be really annoying and inefficient to have to do that everywhere I want to call this function.

I've tried 'SelectionStart' property set to 0, but it has nothing to do with my problem - it only sets where from text is selected.

How can I quickly transform this List(Of Cat) into a List(Of Guid) using the id property?
I could do :

Does link text mean I have to return a concrete implementation? Even though I am using svcutil with the /r that includes my entites(where IMyInterface is defined). I get no errors but it changes all List(of IMyInterface) to list(of Object) and I cannot deserialize it on the client

I need to be able to add elements to a copy of mylist.testlist without modifying the global mylist object. (Which seems to be happening via the below code.)When I am working on x, which should be a totally separate object, mylist is getting modified as well. How can I fix this? I have worked with lists extensively and never seen this behavior before. I have tested and reproduced the problem in .NET 3.5 and .NET 4.0 on Win 7 Pro 32bit.

I was just starting to learn how to use classes today and I think I might have a vague handle on them.Anyways, I was using a class to generate troops (as objects, since I needed various statistics tied to each individual one) in an army for sort of a basic medieval-type game I was creating and adding them to a combo box.It all works perfect and the index holds my object and I can call data from it, etc., my only issue is with the aesthetics of my result.All of the troops I add to the combo box as objects appear in the dropdown list as "WarProject.Soldier", the name of the object. This is obviously not something an end-user would understand or want to see. I have no idea how to change what an object appears as in the combo box.
View 6 RepliesI am having a problem when setting VB.NET list object to another.I create an instance on ReadLocations and than create an object of ReadLocation where then I loop through ReadLocations and set ReadLocation1 equal to rl. What happens is that if I then go and change ReadLocation1 to something else (assdfhsd) it will also change the ReadLocations index. I am really confused why it would be doing that unless it is "=" sign means referencing instead of actually setting the value. Please help as I am a C# developer but the program I am modifying is in VB.NET.[code]
View 1 RepliesI am trying to create a WPF browser application that allows you to search and display recipes. The combo box presents choices, the Ingredients display in one list box and the "cooking" instructions appear in the other list box. What's happening is the first time you make a selection from the combobox nothing displays, and this could be happening because the first line of code under Selectionchanged clears the List Boxes however, it should be populating those list boxes with content, shouldn't it? Anyway, as you make other selections List boxes 1 & 2 get populated but they do not match what displays in the Combo box, i.e. if you select "Easy Taco Dip" any random recipe might appear in List Boxes 1 & 2.

Basically I need to create a form that will display a summary of the population trend for each species of butterfly from a database that I have.I will do this by having the user select which butterfly species he/she wants to view from a combo box and then the list box will display the count_2010 and count_2011 information for that butterfly species.
I have managed to link my combo box to the database but I am unable to get any information to be shown in my list box. I can use a select case and input text myself but I don't want to do that as in another form records need to be added. Is it possible to have the relevant fields from the access database show up in the list box after the user selects a species from the combo box?

View 2 RepliesI have a project that currently uses an XML config file to create some groups. Based on these groups, you can search a database for information. What I want to do is create a form for editing that file. I can get to the information via messagebox, but when putting it into a ComboBox, I can't get the list updated. I have tried the text property which only populates the initial selection, and the Items is a read-only property. Nothing else looks close to what I want to do.
My other thought is to populate a datatable with the information and then populate the combo box from the database. It seems like an extra step that I shouldn't need, but it may be the only option right now.
The reason it can't be hardcoded is that the XML config file is already being used by a program, and the file may be updated from two or three computers, meaning I need a central location for the file.
I have a ComboBox with around 50 google search engines world wide list that looks like tihs

Now the thing I want my ComboBox to do is this, if I select lets say google.co.uk I want my resaults to be searched on google.co.uk if I select .de only list from .de should be searched how can I achive this ?
My list is allready coming back from [URL] but dont know how to doit so that if I select other google it will search there isntead of [URL]
The combobox is bound via binding source to a table. How can I display the list of look up options while having the first option say [None} and if selected, clears the value from the list.
View 2 RepliesOk what I have is a combo box with a set of default items but i want the user to be able add new items to the combo box's item list. i currently have a text box and a command button for the user to use to add new items to the list with this code attached

when the program is closed the item is no longer in the combo box items list.
so what i would like to know is the correct code to make the additions to the combo box's items list permanent or at least until the user chooses to remove them.
