Static Encription To Random Encryption?

May 18, 2009

At the moment I have a piece or code that encripts a messasage and writes it to a textbox and a external text file. BUT the problem I have is that it is static and that every time a encript something it will do it exactley the same and I want it to be random. This is what I have so far: This is my form:

OK To Use Static IV Value In Rijndael Encryption For Many Files?

Sep 3, 2011

My current approach of using Rijndael is to use a pair of static Key and Iv for all encryption operations (I mean I use this pair of Key and Iv for all protected files in my computer).

I heard that IV must be unique for each Rijndael encryption. Is that true? What is the problem (if any) for my current approach of using single static Key and Iv pair?

TV Static Noise Animation-adding Random Generator

Feb 21, 2011

I am a newbie (retired social worker) using Visual Basic 2010 Express edition and need some help with an animation for an eLearning lesson. The animation illustrates a type of white noise (like TV static) called dynamic visual noise. I've got much of the code worked out (with a lot of help) but I discovered that the speed of the animation, using this code is wrong and need some help to fix the code, get it working correctly.You can view a Flash demo of this noise animation at url...More info here about the visual noise animation (even a Delphi source code and Windows demo): url..The animation has a 640 X 640 canvas, with 8 X 8 white and black dots filling it using 80 across and 80 down, for a total of 6400 dots. Some of these (approximately 400) change every second (1000 Ms) from white to black or black to white. These 400 dots need to be selected randomly every second.

The VB code I am using is missing the ability to randomly select the 400 dots per second which are the dots to be changed (white to black or black to white).Here is the current (commented) code that needs an addition of a random generator for the 400 dots every second that will be changed:[code]It would also be a huge help if I can change the specific number of random dots so I can try values ranging from 390-400 dots per second to see which value best replicates the precise animation speed needed.

.net Encryption Result Does Not Match The Xcode Encryption Result Given The Same Input Parameters?

Jun 21, 2011

I have set up a method in vb.net and in xcode for encrypting a string using as far as i can tell the same parameters for an AES encryption.I've looked all over the place but cannot find information on whether they use the same encryption algorithm and settings.

this is the vb.net code:

Dim encryptAES As New AesCryptoServiceProvider()
Dim encoding As New UTF8Encoding()
Dim encryptor As ICryptoTransform
encryptAES.Key = encoding.GetBytes("12345678901234567890123456789032")
encryptAES.IV = encoding.GetBytes("1234567890123416")

Creating A New Random Generator Each Time Should Reduce The Number Of Random Repetitions?

May 26, 2011

I've read numerous posts and threads about random number generation, but I havent' run across this.If I generate a bunch of random numbers, the results are radically different if I create a new Random generator for each number than if I use on Random generator for all the numbers. The results are much more consistent and evenly distributed if I use the same Random generator.I would have thought the opposite,because creating a new Random generator each time should reduce the number of random repetitions, if a different time slice is used to create the random number.[code]......

VS 2010 Draw Rectangle (random Times, Random Location)?

Nov 26, 2011

I am practicing using the drawing commands, and have gotten a grass background and black happy face that moves around the background.It's a 10x10 grid of 50 pixels.I want (at the moment, when i press enter) it to generate a random number of trees (15 ~ 25) at random locations on the background. The program doesn't freak out about anything, and the variables seem to be right (using stop commands) but it's not drawing anything. Here is the code for the "GenerateTrees" command I have for when I press enter.

Random Numbers And Random Strings

Nov 24, 2009

I don't take programming lessons at school or anything, and I'm starting to (try to) teach myself about random things.Currently I'm making an app that has 3 functions:

-Random Integer (1 to 100)
-Random Answer (Yes or No, similar to a coin flip)
-Random Dice Roll (1 to 6)

How would I go about doing this?At the moment all I know about random numbers etc. is that I will need to do something along the lines of Dim dice As New Random or something like that, but, like I mentioned, I have no idea.I am well aware of the DIC rules that you won't write the code for me/do my "homework(?)" for me, and that's not what I'm asking.

Generating Salt - LENGTH Of Salt Be Random - Fixed Or A Random Number Within A (min/max) Range ?

Encryption App Using Xor .net?

Jan 28, 2011

I have been trying to create an app that will do xor encryption. I have tried a few different functions but none of them seem to give me what I want. I need it to put the coded text into a 7 bit ascii string. For example if the key was a - 1100001 and the text to be encrypted was s - 1110011 then it would return 0010010 as the encryption. One of the pieces of code I tried to use

Public Function XOREncryption(ByVal CodeKey As String, ByVal DataIn As String) As String
Dim lonDataPtr As Long
Dim strDataOut As String
Dim temp As Integer

[code]....

This returns a hex digit though which will not work for what I want.

Raw RSA Encryption With VB

Nov 15, 2011

I am attempting to create a program that can do raw RSA encryption (performing the encryption without using 'Encrypt' and 'Decrypt') of a user's message that can contain a-z, A-Z, 0-9, and [,.;:'"()]. I've attached a screen shot of the application form.

Basically, the user will pick from a list of prime numbers from the first box and input them into p and q. They will type their message in the designated textbox and then hit <encrypt> which will encrypt using p and q and then show the encrypted message below. I'll leave out the Key box since that deals with the math behind the encryption.

The part I am stuck on right now is assigning a number to each one of the characters so that it can be encrypted. These numbers need to remain the same so that the message can be decrypted as well.

Static Constructor In .Net?

Feb 9, 2010

I am rewriting a C# class in VB. The C# class has a static constructor in it:

static Class()
{
...
}

which, through the Call Stack, I found is called by the main window's InitializeComponent() method.Everywhere I've looked has told me that the corresponding static constructor in VB is just:Shared Sub New()

but this method is never invoked. Am I creating my VB static constructor right? Is it likely something else that has nothing to do with my static constructor?

RSA Private Key Encryption?

Aug 10, 2009

I'm looking to use RSA Asymmetric encryption to encrypt some data. I've read this article on the forums with a similar title, but it did not answer my question. What I would like to do is use the private key of an RSA key combination to encrypt (sign?) the data and use the public key to decrypt (verify?), as per this wikipedia article . I would like to use this method because I want people to be able to read the data, but not create it themselves. I've copied the code from Peter Bromberg's article RSA Encryption in .NET Demystified , but always get an exception with the "Bad Key" message. If I use the public key for decryption, it works fine (the opposite of what I want). use the public key for encryption.

Which Encryption Method Is Better?

Aug 9, 2009

I've seen a lot of threads on the web discussing about which encryption algorithm is better.According to what I've read, AES encryption algorithm is based on Rijndael's algorithm, and the first is the one being implemented by the US's government to secure TOP SECRET files.From what I've tried RijndaelManaged only supports 128bit long keys (that would be a byte array with 16 byte values, right?) and not 256 as I had first thought; however, AES seems to support 256bit keys (or is it all the way around?), I haven't personally tried DES nor TripleDES.

So, which one is better or more secure? And what's up with asymmetrical encryption? What's the difference? Can both symmetrical and asymmetrical encryption be used for the same thing?
