View 2 RepliesLooking to make a simple VB form, that has three text boxs on it. One for a users username, and two for passwords. What I want to do is provide teachers with this form, they type in a students username, and if that username is found in AD it enables the two password boxs. Then the teacher can type a new password for that user in the boxes (the second one obviously being a validation) and then when they click save, it updates the AD account with the new password. Any ideas on how to do this? Does anyone have any code?

I pretty sure it's because of this ;Database Account=Ads;Database Password=1234; not being correct. I tried ;User ID=Ads;Database Password=1234; and also to make it look like the first statement but neither worked.

View 2 RepliesI can access the current Windows user, but I want to give an admin the ability to enter an alternate username and password for a different Windows Active Directory Account without having to logoff and log back in. Once the account is authenticated, I need to use it in a connection string to sql server. I know I could do this for a SQL Server login, but this is Windows Authentication only. It was installed with ClickOnce. Is there an .exe file on the user's machine?

The program is supposed to locate the sAMAccountName property in AD through an LDAP connection, and then do two things. 1) unlock the user's account by setting the "LockOutTime" property to zero and 2) change the password to a pre-defined password in the code. I've got the program unlocking accounts, but I can't get it to change passwords.
I've tried the line "DirectoryEntry.Properties("userPassword").Value = "xxxxx". I've also tried the DirectoryEntry.Invoke("SetPassword", New Object() {"xxxxx"}) but neither of them work. The first one throws no exceptions but doesn't change the password, and the second one will give me the message "Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation".
make a application where I can store a lot of account information in a file on my computer. This is how it works so far.I have a class called "AccountInfo" with some properties such as Account Name, Password, etc... This is bound to a DataGridView via a Bindingsource. So basicaly what I'm asking, is how can I save/load all these accounts in my computer easily in a file or something?

He asked me, how did i store the password in the database. Then i answered that i would encrypt it then store it in database.
Then he said after encryption, developer or admin still able to view the encrypted password. But he didn't want developer or admin to be able to view the encrypted password.
I thought of cookies, but if user clear their cookies file, everything will be gone.

This is completely trivial so whether it's safe or not doesn't matter. All I need is for it to get working only I'm unsure exactly how to do it. I've tried playing around with the DESCryptoServiceProvider() but haven't gotten anywhere.
To be clear, how exactly do I go about converting a simple password into something that's been encrypted and storing it in the database (and what fields would I store it in). At this point, I'm happy if there's only one key and that key is being defined in the source code.

If the random password is similar to one of the contactcode then generate another RandomPassword IF NOT then place the value to another label called lbltransfer.text.
I'll insert that value to the database.. The idea is extract all the contactcodes(these are the random passwords already generated and stored) from the database. Compare with the new generated password if it exists then create another one if not then store it in a label called lbltransfer.text.
I'm trying to make a application with a login system. I want to store user and password information, into the application. So I can access it from my administrator account. I have tried to make a textbox for every username and password,And then save it into my.settings And then I run the finished application, it works fine to store the information. but if I copy the application after I had entered some user/pass information. All textboxes I blank on the other computer.
View 4 RepliesI'm modifying an existing form in Visual Basic 2010 Express and attempting to work out some small kinks I've noticed. The one that I'm having an issue with is getting the form to completely fill the screen without the border going off screen. When I set the form's Size values at W:1024,H:768 the page always opens a little off. I tried setting the size a little smaller, W:1020,H:764, and it still does not perfectly fill the screen. Does the Size value include the border pixels or are the border pixels added to the form's Size value? Is there another value somewhere that could be affecting this?
View 5 RepliesI have a graph that shows the balance of any number of individuals' accounts over time. The data is taken from a SQL datatable that contains the Individual's ID, Date&Time, and Account Balance.
The account balances of different individuals are not necessarily recorded at the same times. So for person1 I may have:
11/24/10 10:32:43 am - $150
11/24/10 1:47:13 pm - $180
11/24/10 5:15:34 pm - $140

So I want to graph the total between these two individuals, but the 'x-value' of their data points don't match up, so I can't simply add up the 'y-values' of corresponding points.
If I wanted to plot points showing the total between accounts, what should I do to achieve this? I would like this to work for not only 2, but any number of individuals.
The first thing I've decided is that I need to set an interval at which the total will be collected: every 10 min, every 1 hour, etc.
If I supply a date/time value as a parameter, how would I retrieve the most recent balance entry from each individual?
