My ToolStripButtons look flat. They are highlighted when pressed, but they don't look like buttons do. I want them to look like they're not pressed in and then press in when click with the mouse. How can I get this effect?

I have a favorites bar in my web browser and when I display them on a toolstrip as a toolstripbutton but the bookmarks are stored as a string collection in my.settings and It only displays the url of the bookmark (not the document title of the site)Is there a way to have a toolstripbutton that has the text of the Document Title of the url and the url as the tag of the toolstrip button?
View 11 RepliesI have a few routines that they loop forever if they are not interrupted.Selecting any of them sets the "seq" to True.This would leave them in the tight loop to do whatever they do.Its different patterns of LED flashing.I use another button to stop and that makes the "seq" go False.Interesting that I need to click the stop twice to take effect.I can click the stop now and the 2nd click could be after a long time but there is always the 2nd click on Stop that takes effect.

i decided to use toolstrip and inserted some buttons but end up that it doesn't do the validation for control and also doesn't call leave event of textbox control.
so my question is, anyway to use regular button functionality for toolstripbutton or there is a way to add regular button on toolstrip.

I am in the making of creating a database desktop application using VB.NET. I want my UI to have similiarity the same as Microsoft Money. By this, now I want to make all my textbox to behave this way :

I am creating a web browser and I would love to be able to view IE favorites and add, delete, rename, and all that to them too.I want to be able to say add to favorites and a new form comes up saying url and name, in the favorites list it reads as the name but when you click it goes to the url. This is what I have so far, never even started the code because I don't know were to start.
1) Menustrip with a view favorites to show and hide it
2) Add favorites button that has a mouseover effect to an other picture
3) Left Panel thats hides / shows
4) List Box that the name is Favorites
5) a combobox that has a go button, you could also press enter and no beep sound comes up

I have a toolstrip in my main form, at the bottom. The main form has menus that lead to other forms. I am trying to get a button to appear on the toolstrip each time a form opens. My button creation code works. Here is what I have so far:

I have tried using the Tag property to choose the form, but it hasn't worked.I have also tried using the My.Application.OpenForms property to open the form, but this also hasn't worked.I really don't fancy using loads of If Then Else statements to hide and show buttons that have already been created, as this seems rather messy.
I have a textbox, a standard button and a toolstrip containing a couple of buttons. In the validating event of the textbox i coded to check whether it is blank. If yes then it shows a message 'Enter Value'. When the standard button is clicked while the textbox is empty, it's validating properly and showing the message but when the toolstripbutton is clicked it's not not validating the textbox and no message is being shown. It seems that I gotto write the validation code explicitly in the toolstripbutton_click event which is too troublesome when there are multiple textboxes and toolstripbuttons on a single form. What I want to know is whether the textbox_validating can be fired while the toolstripbutton is clicked? Handling toolstrips is really a headache. I'm badly in need of it.

I want to display a ContextMenu when a user clicks a ToolStripButton. I'm using the following code to do so, and it works great, but I want to prevent re-displaying the ContextMenu when the user clicks the ToolStripButton when the ContextMenu is already visible.

View 2 RepliesI'm making an MDI child window switcher (to set focus on selected child) sort of in a windows-style taskbar at the bottom of the program. I've got things set up so that when a child window is opened, a toolstripbutton is created and added onto the toolstrip and contains the window number and window type (what the window does). All that runs very well, but when I want to close a child form, I need to dispose the button that corresponded to it. I tried something like this:

I have an editable datagridview that's been databound with dataadapter and datatable, and a normal button on a form. When i edit the dgv's cells and click the save button it fires the datagridview_cellvalidating event and if the cell validation is correct it updates and saves the current record to the datasource. Also, before save it commits change in any cell under editing. But when I use a toolstripbutton to do the same work, though it saves the dgv records but doesn't update the current change i.e. it saves the old records that are being fetched when the dgv was populated first during form load. Also, clicking the toolstripbutton doesn't fire datagridview_cellvalidating, datagridview_rowvalidating etc events. What it seems to be is it's not committing the change in any cell under editing. Why isn't it happening and how can I make it work? how can I fire datagridview_ cellvalidating, datagridview_rowvalidating and other events; and commit cell value change by clicking toolstripbutton.

Wrote a custom stand alone engineering program to do some very basic repetative design calculations. This program also does pricing by taking each design element and asigning pricing to it based on the parameters given. All the individual elements are added together to get a unit cost. (All this works well without any problems or issues)

My eventual goal once I can prove that my changes work is to control the pricing by using the YEAR so that the program increases the cost by a set multiplier based on the actual YEAR the system is set for. ie: 2011

I have fields with " monday, tuesday,wed, thu, fri, sat and sun". I am trying to add the hours of each day on a separte field " week total hours "..Everything works fine but say if i make any changes again to "monday hours" it does not take effect on " tot hours "
eg.. mon 2hrs, tues 1 hrs, wed 1 hrs, thur 0, fri o, sat 0 and sun 0, then the total hours is 2+1+1 = 4 and it displays well ....but if i change ( mon= 1 ) then it should be 1+1+1 = 3 but it remains 4

When I open the form directly the subforms open in single form/continuous form view - which is what I want. Is there something I can do to the event procedure to make the subforms open properly?

I am not an advanced VB programmer as I create applications for fun at home, so am hoping someone can help me with this. I would like to add a mouse over glow type effect to a control (doing this on a picturebox at the moment). I did this very simplistically by creating a user control and having a picturebox within a picturebox, one of which is not visible. On the mouse over, I just make it visible and it does look cool as it has rounded edges and all that. But I assume this is not a good technique and really limits you. I would like to do it so I can define the color, glow size, etc... kind of like the glow effect in Flex.
