Can't Parse - Unable To Evaluate Expression

Feb 10, 2009

I have this line in some

Integer.TryParse(ThisRow.Item("DatumID").ToString, n)

ThisRow is a datarow. The "DatumID" in this case happens to be an empty string, but is not Null. When I break on this line, and try to evaluate it by highlighting it and pressing Shift+F9, I get the message "Unable to evaluate expression". Interestingly, it is actually evaluating correctly (since the item holds an empty string, TryParse returns False).

I have tested this in every way I could think of (mostly I thought I had left out a parenthesis in my expression, but that wasn't true). So why won't that expression evaluate when tested, even though it is actually working correctly?

I get one root object with key "data", and value another object with 2 children, with keys "name" and "id", and the appropriate values one might expect. But when I try to cast that object to my UserData type, it returns Nothing. I had this code working at some point, but now that I am returning to it and attempting to use it again, it seems some code rot has set in and it has stopped working.

VS 2008 Unable To Do A Case-insensitive Query On A Table?

Jul 13, 2009

I'm having trouble when trying to do a case-insensitive query on a table. Right now the query is:

txtQuery = "SELECT Status, RankingSearchEngines FROM [tbl-DATA-Client-Keywords] WHERE [Client-ID-Code] = '" & clientNo & "' AND lower(Keyword) LIKE '" & sField(0) & "';"

The actual query executed is:

SELECT Status, RankingSearchEngines FROM [tbl-DATA-Client-Keywords] WHERE [Client-ID-Code] = '1402' AND lower(Keyword) LIKE 'flyer printing';

I have an entry 'Flyer Printing' in the database, and this query works perfectly without the case-insensitive check.I'm not sure if this is an OleDB issue, as I've never had this sort of problem with SQLPlus, or anything else

The exception being thrown is:

IErrorInfo.GetDescription failed with E_FAIL(0x80004005).

Sql - Unable To Escape Apostrophe/special Characters In Parametrized Query

Nov 30, 2011

The data was being read from a Gridview which had the html encoding. The solution was the following...

Dim Sht_Text As String = HttpUtility.HtmlDecode(row.Cells.Item(0).Text)

I am trying to prevent from having to escape apostrophes and other special characters in my string variables by using a parameterized query with an OleDbConnection. I have all of the parameters in the same order, the insert is working, it just does not maintain the characters. I keep getting those pesky html codes. I am trying to insert into an Access db from a web pages. As I mentioned, its working, just not the special characters.

Here's the code:

Dim pConn As New OleDb.OleDbConnection pConn = New OleDbConnection(cb.ConnectionString)
Dim SqlString As String = "INSERT INTO Strings (Mlt_String_ID, Lng_ID, Strg_Name, Sht_Text, Lng_Text, Alt_Text) Values (?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?)"

[code]....

jp and en records already existed, the insert of fr record pushes the html codes for the small circle which represents the degree symbol. Happens for all other special characters as well.

C# - Parse An Expression And Retrieve A Parse Tree?

Jun 8, 2012

I just want to parse simple expressions like IIF(FVAL(PFC) = TRUE, (IIF((ORGVAL(BAS, "2012/12/31") + ORGVAL(DA)) < 6500, (FVAL(BAS) + FVAL(DA)) * 12%, 780)), 0)`After parsing this I should be able to know what functions contains what parameters.

[Code]...

I'm stuck with .Net Framework 2.0, so no Linq or lambda expression goodies for me. Also I want to include the code in my custom library and not just reference it. Can anyone point me to some good library or code.

I just need to parse and not evaluate the expression and find what tokens are in use. After finding the tokens I need to change the expression string before parsing, like if the function ORGVAL is used then the parameter passed has has to be prefixed by an underscore. Like ORGVAL(BAS) will transform to ORGVAL(_BAS). Some functions can have tow parameters like ORGVAL(BAS, "2012/12/31") and this will transform to ORGVAL(_BAS, "2012/12/31")

NOTE: IF THERE ARE OTHER WAYS OF DOING IT PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I WOULD LOVE TO AVOID A PARSER AND LEXER.

Asp.net - Complex Linq Query - Add A .Where() Or .Any() Predicate To Reduce Query Complexity (in VB)?

Sep 14, 2010

I have to join two main tables, and I need to filter the results by elements in an ASP.NET web form. These filters are created on the fly so I have to use a lot of where extensions to filter the query. I want to execute the query with as optimized SQL as possible.

I am first doing a simple join between TW_Sites and TW_Investigators. Then there are two sub-tables that are involved. TW_InvestigatorToArea and TW_InvestigatorToDisease. While most of the where clauses are working fine, I have found a performance issue that won't be an issue right now, but will be an issue as the table gets bigger.

The arrays DiseaseCategories and DiseaseAreas would be the results of a CheckBoxList result.

Protected Sub LoadResults()
'Get Dictionary of Filters
Dim FilterDictionary As OrderedDictionary = Session.Item("InvestigatorFilterDictionary")
' Initialize LinqToSql

Asp.net - Complecated SQL Query: Members' Downline Business SQL Query?

Jul 11, 2010

I've got confused at the moment.I've got one database to developed for MLM (Multi level marketing) company.so, there's one Members database.. each member have unique ID called membercode.. and all members can members under them.. can make 2 members down to 1 member.. all members are added in same table named "tbMembers" and for each member there's a "parentID" where I add member's membercode under whome that member is?.. right?

Now what's the matter is .. I want a SQL Query which can go under and under.. like 'John Doe' having two members under him named 'Suzan' and 'Ellie' and 'Suzan' is also having 2 members under her.. and same for Ellie. and for example.. 'John Doe' having about 300 members in his down line? All members are making transactions.. like they purchase product and Invoices are being generated (invoices tables have 'memberID'). Now the query is how to generate query which can calculate John Doe's Downline's TurnOver from invoices table's 'totalAmount' field's SUM?

I'm using Asp.net 2.0 (VB.net) and use SQL Server 2005 Express.

Parameterized Query : Works With Execute Query But Not In Code?

Oct 22, 2009

I have created a parameterized query in my tableadapter. Here is the SQL:

SELECT CalcinerID, Comments, CorrectiveActions, CrucibleOxideWt, CrucibleWeight, DCPressure, DCTemperature,
Date, DischargePressure, FeedPressure, FiredCrucibleOxideWt, GmSampleWt, LIMSNumber, LotNumber, MaterialType,
OperatorID, QualLabOperator, QualLabTimeStamp, RecordID, ToteBinNumber [code]....

When I use the Execute Query button in the Tableadapter Query Builder, the query works fine; I get all the rows I expect. However, when I run this in my code, the query behaves like an equality statement (i.e. Lotnumber = @Lotnumber) rather than a LIKE statement (Lotnumber LIKE '%' + @Lotnumber + '%').Here is the code that is not behaving correctly. Note that I have a textbox, LotSearchTextbox, where I enter the portion of the Lotnumber that I want to use as the filter. I also have a button, LotSearchButton:

Private Sub LotSearchButton_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles LotSearchButton.Click
Try
Dim SomeNumber As Integer = Me.LotCalcinerO2TableAdapter.FillByLotNumber(Me.CalcinerDBDataSet.LotCalcinerO2,[code].....

why the query works in the Query Builder but not in the code?

LAGX12 9456 3459 05-07-2012

Now, I want to execute a sql query that will display the top 5 based on average, so i did this:

SELECT DISTINCT USERNAME,IAVERAGE FROM myTable WHERE IAVERAGE > 0 AND DATE_LOGGED='05-07-2012' ORDER BY IAVERAGE LIMIT 0,5 and the result is:

USERNAME ICOUNT IAVERAGE DATE_LOGGED

1 LAGX03 1698 1112 05-07-2012
2 LAGX09 1598 1142 05-07-2012
