In my form I have 3 tools: combobox1, DateTimePicker1, and UpDownNumber1.I'm using ComboBox_SelectedValueChanged to display UpDownNumber1 if combobox1.value = 3 in rest conditions form will display DateTimePicker1 tool. But when I save a record I have problem. How to save value from tools DateTimePicker1 and UpDownNumber1 as Null if they not display on the form?

View 10 RepliesI'm writing a windows forms project in Visual Studio 2008 - VB, data are stored in SQL database.- I have a date field within Datagrid that could be Null or have a date in it. I had set it to show <none> when it's Null (Null is allowed for this field). The problem that I got is when user would need to delete the date from that date cell within the grid. I'm getting an error immediately after pressing "Delete" to clear the cell value. I had put in a work around - added the code for grid DataError event and assigned DBNull.Value to that cell and user is able to type in <none> for that cell or just press save, but it won't allow to go to the next cell in the grid if you don't save or type <none>. I'm sure that there is a better way handlig situation like that. May be using different event? I wasn't able to find anything else on it.- the other issue in the datagrid - if user fills in 3 cells out of 5 for example and press save while in the 3d cell - it won't save the value in the 3d cell. I also put a work around to check for the values in specific cells before saving but the problem with it - few cells could be Null (and should be Null). I can't check every single cell value and force user to type something in it.

Ive created one database Sql Server Compact Edition 2005, with one table ("Cliente") I know that I can created my database good, but i have a problem saving information since three textbox, in my table(With columns "Nombre" "Apellido" "Cliente". In my form there is a button save ("Guardar"). When I do click in my button appear the next message : "The column cannot contain null values. [ Column name = Nombre,Table name = Cliente ] " and happen the same with apellido and Id_Cliente. And this happen becouse my code cant save the information....

Which is inside a class which overrides a custom list base. The code is occassionaly throwing an unhandled exception, System.NullReferenceException, on this line when used in production:

When I put a break point to the last if clause in the sub ("If (backOrder < 0) Then", see below) it runs until the break point, if I put the break point further below, I get the following error:

In other words, i have made it so that it saves twice. Once for the user to read (like a fancy copy) and another that the program uses to open up the form.
Currently when pushed, 2 save dialog boxes come up after each other. I don't want this to happen. I want 1 to come up (the user friendly, fancy version) which is the easy part, but i also want the other 1 to save automatically and secretly without asking the user to set the destination.

so i have a quite huge program. but lets say i have one label. and i want to save that. i have the code and everything for saving the text of the label. now i want to assign ctrl+s to automatically save the labels text once pressed instead of going through a menu to choose save.this is like a regular texteditor where u press ctrl+s and it saves.
