VS 2005 Drawing On PictureBox Erase When A Window Move On Front
Dec 25, 2009
I used a picturebox to allow user draw lines by mouse. I used this code in mouse down:
Dim D As New System.Drawing.Pen(DrawingColor, 2)
Dim g As Graphics = PB.CreateGraphics()
g.DrawLine(D, X1, Y1, X2, Y2)
but when a window appear on front of picturebox... its seams that picturebox redraw itself, so drawn lines erased.

So I have this code to make a "windows taskbar". When you click on an item, it's supposed to bring that window to the front. The only problem is that's not happening. When I use Debug.WriteLine, it has the right window title, except it doesn't come to the front. What's wrong? There is no EntryPointNotFoundException or anything, it just doesn't bring the window to the front.

I need some code to draw a resizable, draggable rectangular cursor (or selection box) on a picturebox. I found some excellent code (albeit rather old) that does just that, but on a form rather than a picturebox. I have tried converting the code - basically moving things to the picturebox events (Paint, MouseDown, MouseMove etc). It nearly works but leaves a trail behind it when you move or resize the cursor. In other words, the selection rectangle is not being erased before being drawn in the new position.
Is there some fundamental difference between drawing graphics on a form and drawing on a picturebox that would cause this behaviour? Something like, when you invalidate a form and cause a redraw it erases what you did last? If not, then I just need to dig a bit further and work out how the cursor is being erased from the previous position.
Here's the original code that works fine on a form:
Private DragRect As New RectangleF(20, 20, 100, 80)
Private Adornments(7) As RectangleF
Private MouseInRect As Boolean = False

When another window, I have been using Calculator, is in front of my app, and it is moved around, it leaves ghost images until I get the picturebox refreshed. I assume that it has to do with the number of items that I am drawing, which can get extremely high. Here is PictureBox1.Paint handler.

I am using the SetWindowPos to set a window to the front to capture it (not a window of my own application). However, this works from time to time & that is what worries me.
My declaration:
[Code]....
This does work, if just, let's say have forms open, but it doesn't when I minimize everything & get to the desktop (with that taskbar button). It also returns 1400 error a lot, even with running as administrator.

Ok, so I have a new challenge for the D.I.C. Heads. I'm making a simple little game using VB controls. I know it's not the best idea in the world but it'll have to do for now!
Here is whats happening. I've created a class that inherits the PictureBox control that I want to use to place my game pieces on the playing field.
Dim pbArmyUnit(0) As ArmyUnit ' ArmyUnit is a Class that inherits Picturebox now I create the playing pieces at runtime as needed and append them to the array. Player currently buys the units and places them on the playing field.
[Code]...
On a side note how can I look at a stack of pictureboxes all created at runtime to determine whats at a particular location? Example. I move my army unit over top of the picturebox that shows my forest. How can I tell what picturebox I just moved on top of? does that make sense? I don't need code for this just directions on looking at the right info so I can figure it out.
I am creating my terrain at runtime as well since it's randomly generated. and I'm basically making an array of 192 pictureboxes with the appropriate terrain image as well as some other modifiers. Just like with my armies above I've inherited picturebox and created a terrain class array, this way I'm able to add my movement modifiers etc, directly to the picturebox I place on the screen. It's these pieces of terrain that I want to be able to check before allowing the unit to move into them! to get movement costs etc.

My Front end is VB.net 2008.I have a form. In this form, I have a menu control, this menu control has four buttons. On clicking the first three buttons, open the window with Show() event. and the fourth button open the screen with ShowDialog().Now, One by one I am clicking the button , so finally i have now four windows of this application.(Three with Show() and one with ShowDialog())Right?
Now I am minimizing all the windows with the help of Window + D Button. After this, If I use the keyboard(Alt+ Tab) keys. This is opening the showDialog window on top because , Show dialog's TopMost = True. Now I come back to my problem. That's why I cannot use the show/Showdialog overloaded menthod to pass the Me/form-id .Again, I use the keyboard(Alt+ Tab) keys, to minimized all windows. In the taskbar and Startmenu properties ,I have selected the Group Similar Taskbar buttons. This resulted in the heap of my application windows, one on the other. Now i click on one of my application window , and If I click the window other then the Show Dialog opened Window, this is not bringing the show dialog window to topMost.
Note:- There is no parent child window requirement. That's why I can't use the Show/Show Dialog overloaded method to pass the Me/Form-id

I've problem with clearing the drawing in PictureBox. The parts of a drawing are created with PictureBox1_ Paint Event like this: Name is one of the Subs (just part of a drawing). I've created a second event Timer1_Tick in which I want to clear the drawing created before but I can't reach it just with g.Clear(Color.White).

I am new to vb.net, from VB6. Trying to understand drawing a simple line graph into a picturebox, which was so simple in VB6 ! From code snippets, I can see the basic idea using an bitimage to draw the lines and then showing it in a picturebox. I don't understand how to (simulate) scaling of the bitmap's x/y scales like you could do with VB6's .Scale.

VB 6 has a ScaleHeight and ScaleWidth property which VB 2008 does not support and this is causing me fits to work around. I'm trying to draw some lines (a graph) on a Picture Box (or a Panel) using my own coordinates (not pixels). This can't be all that hard can it?

I'm basically trying to make a simple, easy-to-use, paint program. I seem to be having problems with using multiple colors in the PictureBox1_Paint option. It draws the graphics but when you change the brush color and click in the picturebox it changes the colors of the previous graphics to the color you are currently trying to use. I need it to allow multiple colors.
Here's the code that I'm currently using..
