To have a function that takes the average (which is calculated by a different function) say for example the average is 6, now the function is to take the number 6 and get the variance from six to another number lets say its 12 so this will return a calculation of 50% variance. now here comes the issue, i have it calculating the variance how ever lets say that there is a score that is 0, how can i make it calculate the variance without taking count for that 0? i guess you can say i need it to "skip" if its a 0.

Someone had coded a project in Java. THis was just a calculation that looped through 1000 iterations. We had done the same thing in Vb.net.Does anyone know the speed difference between Java and Vb.net for a long calculation loop? I had heard Java was very slow.

The program should be able to take these data and calculate the break-even year, i.e. when the cumulative profits become 0. Also, it should have a listbox that would list the cumulative profit for 10 years. Refer to the example below. Now I know how to show it in the listbox but I am having trouble showing the break-even year. I know how to calculate it but how do you show it in years.

assuming i have an isoceles triangle, where i know the height + base width, how
can i calculate the width of that triangle at 1/3 of the distance from the point + 2/3 of the distance from the point?
i thought it'd be simply 1/3 base width + 2/3 base width, but my drawing is +/- a few pixels when i resize it?

I am trying to make a VB User Interface with Visual Basic Express Edition 2005 where clients can do the following calculation: Stranding x Bare Copper CMA = Total CMA
I have created an access 2007 database called Total_CMA, this database has 2 columns, one with the SIZE and the other AREA, but in this database the Size = Area ( was not sure how to set that up properly ) so I left it at 2 columns and then went to VB and set up with a listbox for the Size and have bound the database to this listbox, and when I debug it, the numbers for Size show up in the listbox, so thats looking good so far, since the size = area when I bound it it asked to get and I picked Size then it asked value equals so I picked Area and hope that was the proper thing to do.
I added a TEXTBOX named STRANDS for the customer to input the number of strands, then a button to click to calculate total CMA and another Textbox named TOTAL to display the results. All have labels next to them naming what they are.
My question is, how do I get what the customer selects in the listbox to multiply by the STRANDS textbox and output in the TOTAL textbox when clicked on the button to calculate total CMA. I also need to make sure whatever SIZE they picked in the listbox is going to take the AREA number ( not the SIZE number ) and multiply it by the STRANDS textbox.
I am using a from where i am adding the time of the employee....what i am doing is that if the total hrs worked on monday = 20 hrs and on tuesday = 20 hrs then i want to add the 20 + 20 = 40 . all of my variables are time span and that is y it resets after 24.

Stand alone performance (through a win32 project) form is very good for my project. e.g. a Y() = 50000 entries, LookupList=1000 entries, calculating the mean 1000 times take about 5 ms.
That beats a c++ function accessed through a rcw quite easily (takes >300ms). However, when I plumb this function into a larger project the performance drops off significantly, taking (typically) 50ms for the same test. Also if (say) I make Y bigger (say, 100 000 elements) with everything else the same I see a tiny overhead in the stand alone test (of order 1 ms), yet I see a close to linear increase in the calculation time in the larger project. The larger project is not so big (a few MB) as to make we worry about resource constraints.
I am fairly new to VB and I am struggling with not using the Reverse string.I need to take a persons name from a text box and print the name backwards in a label using lop and the MID function.I have this, but it doesn't use the MID Function, how would I change it.

I want it to check all of the items in the my.settings.ipbank which is a stringcollection. Before it adds and if it already exists in my.settings.ipbank then i want it not to add it. But it just adds when i run it. And then once its added it says: "Collection was modified; enumeration operation may not execute." But also before i run it. There is a warning saying: Function 'AddTo_IPBank' doesn't return a value on all code paths. A null reference exception could occur at run time when the result is used. Is this something to do with it? I think i have the Next in the wrong place .
