I've told it what to do if the dialog result is "Yes." Now, on the "Cancel" dialog result, I only want the message box dialog to close, NOT the program. Whats the command to make only the message box close?
Can I create new dialog results for my dialog forms? And then use them with Form.ShowDialog method?

The program is to illustrate the concepts of using a database to look up information based on user input. The program allows a user to input two search criteria for a product search. The program then displays each individual search result, or record that meets the search criteria in a message box. I am not getting the message box and I don't know why. No errors are present during compiling so I have no indication as to where the problem is.

The form is up and running but I want to be able to add some more code. I have assigned Stored Procedure to each click event for each button. What I wantr to be able to do is after value is added to text box and button is clicked if there are no reults to display than a message box is displayed with adequate message detailing this. Also is it possible to add a count of records to the form. Once value has been enetered ij tyext box and stored procedure runs and fills dataset with required data can I display a box to show number of records from this search.

View 15 RepliesI need a code for the open file dialog that if a file is not supported then a message box appears stating the error. This is my open file dialog code. [code] The message box pops up like it is suppose to, when you click ok the open file comes back up like it is suppose to. When you put in the correct file the message box comes back up again. Also the message pops up even if the correct file is put in the open file. but if you close the file dialog the image is where it is suppose to be.I believe the code for the public sub wrongfile is what is the problem. can some one look it over and let me know what changes are needed.

The unexpected result is that not all the files specified in arext() are returned by this code. Running the same code twice on the same subset of files does NOT produce consistent results.I'm seeing, probably, 90% of the files with the other 10% not being included?

I an new to VB.Net as well as this forum. I have a problem in working with printing my results from the Data grid view. Actually I am working on my project "Library Management System" and I have to print the results of the DataGridView. Like if I search for an author in the book catalogue, the results are shown in the datagird, I need to print those results to printer. I may be the selected or the whole page. A loop I created in case they selected the wrong type of data file they could choose again. [Code]. I just installed VS 2005 on a new laptop with Windows 7 and I can't find the option under the Debug menu called 'Exceptions'. It was available in my previous install under WinXP. I know win7 had some incompatabilities with vs2005. Is this one of them? Man, I'd hate to loose the ability to break on thrown exceptions.

View 1 RepliesOk, the basic situation: Due to a few mixed up starts, a project ends up with not one, but three separate databases, each containing a portion of the overall project data. All three databases are the same, it's just that, say 10% of the project was run into the first, then a new DB was made due to a code update and 15% of the project was run into the new one, then another code change required another new database for the rest of the project. Again, the pertinent tables are all exactly the same across all three databases.
Now, assume I wanted to take all three of those databases - bearing in mind that they can't just be compiled into a single databases due to Primary Key issues and so on - and run a single query that would look through all three of them, select a given set of data from each, then compile those three sets into one single result and return it to the reporting page I'm working on.
I've been asked by management to convert all of my applications from VB 2005 to VB 2008 (in preparation for taking them to VB 2010). I have a VS 2005 application that uses an ADO Data adapter which was defined using the GUI. I normally define my connections in code, but have been asked to get away from that in favor of ADO (and similar) data adapters.When I run the conversion wizard in VS 2008, it appears to convert this program, with some warnings and I get the 'Conversion Completed' dialog box. However, the VS 2008, will not let me close the dialog box, even after waiting for 3 hours. The only way to get out is to reboot the system.

I have a open and file save dialog which I use to open and save file. There are also some labels in the application. During the time a file is open or saved, the file open /save dialog becomes blurred by the background labels. Is there any way to prevent this? The attached pic is given as an example to explain the dilemma.
