I'm having a problem with my listbox control. I am trying to handle all the keypress events for the listbox and changing the index to the item I want as they type. But the problem is the listbox changes the index to the last key they hit. Here is what's going on.
I had a need to mark a listview row if filenames were duplicates for n number of characters from the left. I wrote the following but it smacks of VB6.[code]...
I use a List(Of T) (where each T is a custom type with a few members) to keep track of about 500 items that change all the time. The list can be changed from different locations within the program (uses background workers that monitor the list).
Question: Is there some built-in way to prevent the List from being updated from different locations or from different threads at the same time? For example, one thread may remove an item from the list while another location changes one of the members of an item, causing conflict, wrong data and errors. Perhaps there is a standard way in VB.Net (framework) to solve this type of problem?
I have this code to return a list of fund sources for our organization.
Dim FundSourceList As New List(Of FundSource) Dim fs As New FundSource If results.Count > 0 Then[code].....
The problem is that when I loop through the resulting FundSourceList all it shows is the last value. For example, if I have three fund sources (state, federal, athletic), then when I use this code to loop through all I get listed is athletic, athletic, athletic.
For Each FundSource In FundSources Debug.Print(FundSource.FundDescription) Next
So I change the code to this. I moved the creation of the fs variable inside the loop.
Dim results = From result In dsResult.Tables(0) Select result Dim FundSourceList As New List(Of FundSource) If results.Count > 0 Then[code]....
This works fine but now I'm creating a new class over and over again. It seems a little inefficient to me. Can I not create the class outside the loop and use it over and over again?
I have a list of objects, each with 2 relevant properties: "ID" and "Name". Lets call the list "lstOutcomes".I need to check the list for duplicates (meaning object1.ID = object2.ID, etc.) and set a flag (valid = false, or something) if there is at least one duplicate. Also, it would be nice to send a message to the user mentioning the "Name" of the object, when it fails.I am sure I will need to use the Group By operator to do this, but I am not used to doing that in LINQ, and the examples out there are just not helping me. This article seems to be close to what i need, but not quite and it's in C#.
Here is a starting stab at it... Dim duplist = _ (From o As objectType In lstOutcomes _
Okay so i have a very large list of string (500 000 strings) i want to check the number of duplicate strings and maybe even isolate the duplicate strings if i can.
i cant find a fast method to do so :S
i tried using a string array (slower than list) takes ~15mins
i tried using list with the code below takes ~10 mins
Is there an easy way to search through a List(Of Integer) and find duplicates? Or do I need to do loops to search through it with each number, comparing it to each one?
I'm creating an application that creates a list of 20 ramdomly selected numbers within an array and displaying those numbers in a listbox. I then need to display the duplicate numbers in an adjacent listbox by clicking the find duplicates button. How would I be able to access those 20 numbers in order to find the duplicates?
I have an client.exe, through contextmenu in windows explorer i run this client.exe. is working fine. How to prevent , if user clicks same client.exe while its already runs.
This is somewhat related to my other thread, but because it's a different question and the other answer has been marked I thought this should be posted in it's own thread.I have this code another poster had written for me:
Private _MenuCloseing Private _SecondsRemaining As Long = 10 Private WithEvents _Timer As New Timers.Timer(100)
I have developed an application which requires reading data from Excel file and performing some calculation. However for some reason the Excel file is always locked at the end of the computation after I close the application.
I have a sulution consisting of aout 30 projects, where 8 of tehm are deployment projects. Currently, when I want to debug the winforms app, I press "start debugging", and wait for about 15 minutes for the solution to be built, and also the deployment projects to be built and packed. The solution itself is built in about 2 minutes, the rest of the time is for the deployment projects. So, my question, is there a way to make the setup in visual studio so that only the code projects are built and the deployment projects to be built manually when needed?
I have got a standard Windows Forms Treeview which contains some nodes.I am using NodeMouseDoubleClick event to get the node and then get the ID of the node and show a form containing data that belongs to the ID.What I am stuck at is when I double click any node, it Collapses or Expands depending on it's previous state. I want to Prevent TreeNode from Collapsing or Expanding when DoubleClicked but allow when user clicks that tiny "+" or "-" button in front of the node.
I have created a series of custom user controls for a wizard interface that I am making. Each user control represents one step in the wizard and really shouldn't be used outside of the wizard. The thing that is bugging me is that each wizard step user control shows up in the toolbox of components to insert into a form.
Is it possible to hide a user control from the toolbox? Better yet is it possible to hide a user control from other classes not in the same namespace of an assembly? Is this a good approach or should I think of a different approach?
I have a GUI with a few button on it and each button start an application. I want to prevent the application to start twice if the user double click on the button. How can I do that?
I currently have a list of words in a text file sorted in to alphabetical order and put into lower case, but I would like to be able to also display the line numbers on which these words are associated with.. but only one instance of.
For example,
"This is a random text file that I have just made up this second"
[Code].....
As you can see above, I would like to show that "this" for example appears on line 1 and 4. Hopefully tabbed so that it keeps a nice look to it.

I am trying to access a list box using tab or an access key but to no avail. I set a label control and assigned an access key and also set the labels tab order to be one less than the list box but still have to use the mouse in order to get the list box. I also want to be able to limit the keypresses of an inputbox but I'm not sure how to add that. I can do it with a text box but I'm not sure if I should be selecting an object or not for the input box. This app is supposed to calculate total and average scores based on the number of judges selected in the list box (2-8)
HTML Option Explicit On Option Strict On Public Class MainForm
I am able to only add controls that are of type TextBox. My question to you is, can I create a List to hold more than one control type or do I have to create a list for each control type?
