There is a website from which i want to extract the data. Currently there are 1700 pages of data(list of products).so , currently what i am doing is using an webclient to DownloadString for each of the 1700 pages using for loop, which is making the UI unresponsive for few minutes. (after every loop i am displaying the progess % in prog. bar)To overcome the unresponsiveness use Threads. But by using threads i am not able to access the progess bar and set the completion status?
Now for a succesful insertion i want to notify the user about a successful save operation.....i.e,i want to display a message "Successful Save Operation"to the user. How to do this using the Status Strip?
Basically it's this question but then for VB.net. I need to check the CheckBox state from another thread than the main thread. Solutions for the linked question contain C# code. On-line translators do not yield understandable results.[code]...
I am currently utilizing the StatusStrip and a form which auto-close after a second or two, is there other funkier way of showing some status like if a save has been successful or not? For exceptions I am already using ErrorProvider.
I would like to add in a progress bar and a status (label control) which will display what system doing after user click a button. There are few status: Eg: Importing data, Verifying data, Generating Report
Part of my coding: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Private Sub cmdImport_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles cmdImport.Click ProgressBar1.Visible = True
[Code]....
lblStatus is the label which will display the current status. But.. while user click the button, "Verifying Data File" is not displaying. After the system complete the whole progress, lblStatus only display the text. May I know any setting / bug I need to attend?
I've got the code to display the current browser status text in the status bar but i want it to display the name of my web browser aswell. Example: Dreamincode.net - (Name of Webbrowser)
He is my code for the displaying staus text. Private Sub webBrowser1_StatusTextChanged( _ ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) _ Handles webBrowser1.StatusTextChanged
In one application, I need use 4 simultaneous threads. When the threads finished, I need to update the text of a TextBox.So, I create 4 Textbox, and I wanna the threads change the text to FINISHED.Each thread change one distinct TB.I use this "example"
Dim Terminados As Integer = 0 Private Sub frmEnviarMensagem_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Timer1.Enabled = True Timer1.Start()
[code]....
The problem is, I have an error in the red lines. The error is: INVALIDOPERATIONEXCEPTION "Cross-Thread operation not valid: Control tbPlaca1 Accessed from a thread other than the thread it was created on."I don't use cross threading. Each TB only was accessed for the correspondent thread, and for the "main program".
"Cross-thread operation not valid: Control 'Panel1' accessed from a thread other than the thread it was created on." The reason I am getting this error is because I am opening up a new form and then calling these three things:
Panel1.Show() Label1.Show() Label2.Show()
why I get this error message because it doesn't occur normally if I open Form2 after closing Form1, it only occurs when I open Form2 after closing Form4.
When my client try to connect to server I'm getting this error : Cross-thread operation not valid: Control 'l_users' accessed from a thread other than the thread it was created on.
Private Sub _socketManager_onConnectionAccept(ByVal SocketID As String) Handles _socketManager.onConnectionAccept l_Users.Items.Add(SocketID) End Sub
Would anyone be able to help me here please. I'm fairly new to VB.net and threading so im just trying to figure out what is happening. When I debug this I am getting the error thread operation not valid: Control 'ProgressBar1' accessed from a thread other than the thread it was created on.
I'm a little lost as to why the error is occuring or how to fix it. I've had to put the progress bar in a separate thread otherwise the GUI crashes
My understanding is that thread.join will suspend the execution of code on the calling thread until the spawned thread finishes or is aborted...
With that in mind, I tried this:
For i = 1 to 50 threads = New Thread(AddressOf test) threads.IsBackground = True threads.SetApartmentState(ApartmentState.STA)
[CODE]...
However, the rest of the code runs when the loop finishes, not waiting for all the spawned threads to finish. Since the rest of the code needs the threads to finish (otherwise the rest will error).
I have written an application that loads a form - frmCad as well as AutoCad. It does this via a class which detects when AutoCad quits.
Friend Class CadApp Private WithEvents AppObject As AcadApplication... Private Sub AppObject_BeginQuit(ByRef Cancel As Boolean) Handles AppObject.BeginQuit RaiseEvent Quit() End SubEnd Class
My main class loads frmCad as well as CadApp.
Public Class Cad Private WithEvents frmCad As CadForm Private WithEvents app As CadApp... Public Sub ShowForm() If frmCad Is Nothing Then frmCad = New CadForm frmCad.Visible = True End Sub... Private Sub app_Quit() Handles app.Quit frmCad.Dispose() frmCad = Nothing .... End Sub
When I debug the program, it stops at frmCad.Dispose()The program continues to execute, but all the code after it fails to work.Looking more carefully I get an error message which contains:-Cross-thread operation not valid: Control 'Autocad' accessed from a thread other than the thread it was created on.
My error:Cross-thread operation not valid: Control 'label2' accessed from a thread other than the thread it was created on. I want to be able to give my Public RunBot() sub access to edit Labels, buttons, etc without an error.
My problem is Cross-thread operation not valid: Control 'statusHO' accessed from a thread other than the thread it was created on.
System.InvalidOperationException was unhandled Message="Cross-thread operation not valid: Control 'statusHO' accessed from a thread other than the thread it was created on." Source="System.Windows.Forms" StackTrace:

i used it and it works fine then. but as it is mentioned its not a good practice to use it. So what should i do? is it ok if i use this as i am not able to use correct practice. Mine application is not for enterprise purpose. its just my class project, and it works fine even if i put application working in background. System works ok. I dont know how to correct this error. As i dont have that much knowlege of threads.
So please guide me how to fix this in correct way otherwise i am force to go for bad programming practice Please refer to Windows Mobile Developer Center > Smart Device Development Forums > Windows Mobile Development > Appendtext not working for all my code details
I am working on a vb.net app that is capturing a screen shot then crops down to the "status bar" of a particular application this image is then converted to black and white. I crop off the left portion of this to compare to a preset image. this is where the app breaks as for some reason it shows the images being the same no matter what. here is where i think the problem is but i also attached full source in case its needed
I would like to get a progress bar to actually follow the work being done in my application. In other words I load application and then the user loads a database by clicking file open etc... I would like to have a progress bar run until the data file and all text and labels are completely loaded Is that following a thread? forgive me if I am way off, still learning
I have a client program I wrote that waits for TCP communications. I found that when it was waiting, the form became unusable. I did some reading and learned about threading. Now it works great. Now I came to the point where I need to stop the program.. this is basically what I have:
[code]...
I figured I'd use the quit option to set the bool to false that the thread will see then do the proper closeout. However, it doesn't seem to work. After banging my head against the code, hehe, I realized that the thread is hung waiting for a client on the "AcceptTcpClient()" line.. so it's never getting a chance to evaluate SystemRunning. Is that an accurate assumption of the problem? If so, how does one deal with it?Also, I surmised that I probably should put my "end" statement at the end of the thread to be closed rather than my quit sub. I was afraid the marker boolean for the thread would get set and then the quit sub would immediately trigger "end" before the thread had a chance to close out. Is that also correct, or doesn't it matter?
i want to process a list of strings using multiple threads. the first function pases it, it then send the result to another, and finally that one displays the final result in list view
dim items as new list(of string) private sub button_click() start parsing thread threadParse = New Thread(New ThreadStart(AddressOf startprocess)) threadParse.Start()
In my application I have a loop that makes calls to a website to download data. I'm using a DownloadDataAsynch call with a handler.
I'm making many such calls in a loop. What I'd like to do is, if I have more than a certain number of replies pending, I should pause the loop and let the data handlers run.
i have a frmStatus form and a frmSearch form when i load frmSearch or make search frmStatus opens showing please wait with a picturebox and a animated gif and when the frmSearch is ready to show frmstatus hides before picture box all was well but when i added a picturebox frmstatus shows but it hangsup and the animation is still
I currently have a form with a listview. On another form, I would like get all the items from that listview. This I can achieve but I always get the "Cross-Thread operation not allowed exception" message. I've tried the following code to avail.
I want to raise an event from a non-UI thread where the event will be handled by the UI. Currently, I have to use .Invoke in my methods (which updates UI) called from the event.
How can I raise the event, similar to Background Worker's progress update event, where I don't have to specifically do an .Invoke for UI updates?
Do I wrap the event with a delegate or something? Sample code will be fine though, if the explanation was tedious.
