View 4 RepliesI have made a program that makes and saves every possibility of characters under 7 characters (so far), and it takes about 10 mins to make one million possibilities... this is about 1800 possibilities per second (differering on different CPU's and RAM's)How can i make it more efficient, because i have made some basic calculations, and if i wanted 7 digits of every possible character combination, it will take about 7 billion possibilities... If i had 10 mins per million, that is a long time..

Someone may think this is bruteforce hacking, but I don't see why I should do that? If I want to find a password on 13 characters, it would be: 62^13 = 200028539268669788905472 possibilities... in other words... it would take forever!
I wanna type 140 characters in asp.net textbox with multiline when i type in textbox then the characters will be decreaded means if i type two characters in textbox then in label the available characters will be shown is 138..using vb.net

I'm planning to make a program that Allows the user to type in the Download Link of another program, and then Run it. I do not want the file to be saved on the user computer.
View 1 RepliesIm trying to make a program that makes a user type in a password, then open a folder where the user can put files. but once they close out of the file browser. the program needs to save the files and remove the directory. for example think of a file cabinet being the program, and the drawer being the temp folder. when the user closes the drawer, it goes back into the cabinet, or in this case the program.
View 7 RepliesI want to know how can I make a program what will work in any type of resolution & monitor. For example if I make an application fullscreen it will work. But problem is that text boxes or another things will not work properly. For example if I make a program & make it fullscreen for 1440 * 900 resolution it will work fine when it will get 1440 * 900 resolution. But when it will get different resolution like 1280 * 1024 or something like that it will make my application fullscreen but buttons or another things will not be present there in same place. So what should I do to get rid of this problem? All I want to make a program what will adjust itself everywhere(though you change resolution or monitor like 17 inch or 29 inch whatever it will work & buttons & another thinks will be there in same place).

View 39 RepliesI only started using visual basic earlier this year so I'm still a newbie but I've been wondering some things:
1. When you have a picturebox back color to transparent, objects under it still get hidden. Is there a way around this?
2. I've been trying to make a program where you can control an object, and it has multiple animations, but I can't figure out a way of doing this other than having a bunch of picture boxes together and making them visible/not visible as needed. Is there a better way to do this?
3. (I think) I know how to make global variables (dim whatever as global.system.integer ? I don't have it on the computer I'm posting with), but how do I make another form use them?
4. Is there a way to have multiple sounds play at the same time? Whenever I play a sound it stops whatever else is playing.
I am attempting to have my program select a file, create DataTables and then perform some other functions. I want to be able to open another file and re-do the same steps.The problem I am having is that I add columns to my Datatables and when I try and to open another file while one is already open I get a message that a column of xyz is already added how do I properly "clear my datatable" or perhaps that isnt even the correct approach? Here is the code I have that Opens a File
HTML
Private Sub OpenToolStripMenuItem_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles OpenToolStripMenuItem.Click
[code]....
This was working at one time but after adding to my project I must have placed something in the wrong place inadvertantly or it has soemthing to do with adding columns,?

I have an xml string which I am attempting to create an xmlDocument from but I keep getting the exception "Illegal characters in path".
This is the string :
HTML
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<scanResponse>
<Authentication>Authentication1</Authentication>
</scanResponse>
What illegal characters and where?
I want to explicitly inform my user that they are not allowed to use any characters from the extended ascii character set (128-255). When I try to create a string of these values using the following [Code] It outputs them fine, with the exception of a bunch of blanks in certain areas(I am assuming these characters are unprintable), but I noticed that when I hover over the value of sVal in the VS, the tooltip/quickview of the value is written nicely on one line. Any ideas how to remove characters that would appear to be blank spaces (unprintable) when outputting this list?
View 4 RepliesI am a complete beginner with Visual Basic, I am attempting to continue where the original creator left off. His project is finished but he didnt (and still doesnt) have time to fix a couple of bugs with his code....Basically, he has written a small VB application that closes SWF flash files if the CRC matches from a list... So when an SWF is loaded into explorer the SWF is hash checked and then closed if it matches from the "hashcheck.txt" file.
All is working apart from 2 small bugs:
1) %^&{}[]#` - dont work.Ive found that If there is any of these charactors in the folder or filename structure the file doesnt get checked/closed.
2) Network paths do not work.. (maybe is part of above bug?)
N: est_folder estfile.swf <-- works perfectly
\pcshare est_folder estfile.swf <-- doesnt work
what is the way to print part of the string after certain characters.For example, original string: c:windowshouse.jpg I need to print after , that returns house.jpg?
