View 5 RepliesI am creating a function and want to have IntelliSense pop down the list of valid options for a certain parameter in the same way that the MsgBox function behaves when you are typing your argument for which buttons you wish to include (such as MsgBoxStyle.OkCancel). I have done my best to search the internet but haven't found a thing which comes close to what I'm seeking. My monkeying around hasn't produced a satisfactory solution, yet, either.
A related additional thing, which I can live without but that would be nice to have, is the description of the current parameter, which appears below the function description as shown highlighted below MsgBox (Prompt As Object, [Buttons as Microsoft.Visual Basic.MsgBoxStyle = MsgBoxStyle .DefaultButton1], [Title as Object = Nothing]) AsMicrosoft.VisualBasic.MsgBoxResult
Buttons: Optional. Numeric expression that is the sum of values specifying the number and type of buttons to display, the icon style to user, the identity of the default button, and the modality of the message box. If you omit Buttons, the default is zero. This is my first post. I'm relatively new to VB .Net.
I have an array I know is getting initial values. I need to be able to see it's results visually like a msgbox. That will be the official output.
Sub SaveDestFile()
Dim StaffCode As String
Dim MyRec As String
Dim Duration As String
Dim FlagMe As String
[Code] ....
This is really more of an academic question, but where is this function defined? Within .NET, I'm used to working in an object oriented manner. However, if I define a VB.NET class as follows:

Is MsgBox defined in a class? I am not required to reference a static class or inherit from another class. I'm not even required to import a namespace. I did find this link from msdn. But my question remains, where is this defined and how does the CLR just load up a function?

View 10 RepliesI'm basically reading a memory address of Notepad using a module I got from a example... Then I'm displaying the text value of the memory address in a MsgBox. Everything goes well, I'm able to retrieve the text value and everything, but this happens.Lets say the value of the memory address is "Notepad". 4th "Note"

View 2 RepliesI'm using VB.net 2005, .net framework 2.0
I'm currently having a form that has a button starting a long process, with feedback into another windows textbox (call frmProcessLog).
I'm using a Background worker to laucnh the process, upgrade the status of the process and display feedback on the frmProcessLog textbox, and to know when the thread process ended up, (from the cancel button, from an error or normal termination).
the main thread process has some msgbox in it, asking questions to the operator (yes/no/cancel).
I've added the msgboxstyle.systemmodal to the msgbox call which works "ok" excpet if the operator decide to ignore the showing message box and click the cancel button on the frmProcessLog form, which is still clickable even though I supplied "systemModal" to the msgbox. this makes the msgbox hidden behind the frmProcesslog form and the process can still continue.
If I close my frmProcessLog form, I will see the previously msgbox behind it and If I end up click one of the button it will end up at an application error because the thread that called it is not existing anymore.
So I would like that the msgbox to be launched from the thread making it as if it was launched from my frmProcessLog window in a modal way.
A friend of mine has requested my assistance in making a "panic button" application where you place the directory, click a button and boom. Directory deleted. You might assume this may not be the most legal application. I have already figured out how to delete directories due to this MSDN post. My code is near the exact same.
My problem is, I want to make sure the button is fully intentional. So I added a MsgBox with Yes, No, and Cancel. As you can see below:

View 1 RepliesSimple question I couldn't find in the book or online. I have a Button which needs to have permanent text set to 'Calculate' and 'Section' on separate lines. The 'Multiline' option I have seen mentioned does not appear in my properties. I can't 'show the code' as I think it is a properties setting.
