View 3 RepliesI'm making an application for a website and it's going to be used by multiple people.The application will open up a site in webbrowser, use HTML ID to fill in textfields and then it will press "Logon"The problem is, in my application i need to tell the user if login was succesful or no.I couldn't do it with URL string because:
The login page is [url]....for example once they are logged on they will get [url]......But the ID for everyone will be diferent.How can I check if the login was succesfull and report it with a msgbox or in a log/listbox "login succesfull" or "login un-succesfull"
Well this script is working partially, when the script submit the login a MsgBox("The login is wrong!") appeared, but when the page load a MsgBox("The login is ok!") appears. Why the "The login is wrong!" is appearing?

View 1 Repliesi am tried to develpod login page for System staff Library.I want to modified my login page which only allow user which has register in the system able to access.If the user want to login but dont have any username and password yet user will got message error. All the username and password are store in table staff .For your info i am creating using Visual studio 2005 using application forms and all the data was save in sql 2005.My server name is Danawa, i created my database name Login and table name Staff.In inside table staff 1 created 7 column such staffid, Name, telno, department, username, password, address. I have a login page where I display all the sql servers available and when the user selects the server, all the databases are displayed in a different combo box. Then the user enters the userid/pwd and clicks logon button.Assume that the credentials are correct and sucessfully established.
Now what I want is to store that connection string into somewhere so that all the different operations can be carried out without referring to the config file.One option that I have is to declare a public variable in DAO class and assign the connection string to it.Is there any other better way to handle this situation.

How do I display a messagebox on login failure.
After I send a post request to login to a site (using httpwebrequest), how do I check if the login is valid?
One way to do it is to read the whole html using

But reading the entire html is too long, so how do I shorten the process?

I'm developing an application which requires log in. I'm using Master Pages and a customer Web Control which is my main menu system. The main menu accesses database information to provide notifications and various things, none of which will work unless the user is logged in. I am trying to place the following code:

Into the top of my MasterPage code behind, but it's still trying to process scripts, the main problem being that it is running the .ascs file which requires Database access, which it can't do without the required parameters from Login. I've tried running it within a Page_PreInit sub, also Page_Load and Page_Init, but in all cases it ignores this (or probably doesn't ignore it, but errors come in before it deals with this) and returns a big fat ERROR due to functions that I don't even want it to be running!! How can I check for a session variable, which if not present cause all other scripts on the page to be ignored and redirect? This is all using VB.NET

I'm creating an app, with a splashscreen, loginform (just enter a name) and a mainform.With I use my.settings. Now here comes the issue I run into.The splashscreen should check (onload) if the my.settings.user contains any info, if it does, the mainform should be shown, if not the loginform should be shown. On my app settings I have splashscreen set to the splashscreen and the first form is set to login form.

View 3 RepliesI have an VB.NET application. This Application is permanently resident in memory and minimized to the tray area because we use it very often. The problem comes in when we VPN into a client's site. These VPN connections trash all other network connections to and from our machines.Then every time my VB.NET application refreshes its database, errors start occurring, because the machine has lost connectivity to the SQL server, however, these are not at the connection level, but only when the reader attempts to read.
I am checking for connection.open, but because of the SQL connection pooling, I just get a previous connection that was valid before the network was cut. Is there anyway to check if an actual SQL connection is valid, prior to re-issuing a connection from the pool?[code]...

I made program which connects sql database via WiFi network. I have timer wich every 10 minutes updates textbox information from database. If Network connection will be lose, i do not whant to get any error and after that lose data wich is in textbox, until sql database connection will not be.
