if i transfer it to excel it shows the right the format but in datagridview its different..

Dec 14, 2009I got a datagridview that gets filled from the database. One of the columns OSorderDate needs to be formated like this - "dd/MM/yyyy hh:mm:ss" but I don't know how to apply this to the column of a datagrid. The column type is DataGridViewTextBoxColumn.

One field of the datagrid needs to be formatted as currency and calculate a total for that column. I have the following that is supposed to give the total cost: [Code] I understand the first two lines, since itconnects the DB to the app. The problem I have is that the following lines and how/where I am supposed to handle them. The "DtGrdVwlAlbums.RowCount() - 1" has a line underneath it and is telling me that it is not declared. I do not know what it is supposed to be declared as, and what it connects/relates to.

That all works fine. However I want to format one of the columns with a particular date format. Is there a way of doing that in the vb code? I know I can do it in the .aspx by specifing AutoGenerateColumns="False" and then explicitly defining the columns, but I want to do it in the code as it's more future proof for my application.

Feb 8, 2010I am trying to change the datagrid cellstyle alignment of a column in the designer. I set it to middle right but then I run it and it still aligned to the left. I have a lot of datagrids in my application but there are few that doesn't accept any alignment settings which I don't understand at all, can't see any reason, I been looking through the options if there is anything but can't find anything. I just need one column of cells to be aligned to the right whatever I do all of the columns are aligned left and there is an option in the defaultcellstyle that is sat to middle left, but when I try to change it to Not Set it doesn't change.

Datagridview - Sort Datagrid View Column With Numbers And Texts On Column Header Click?
Feb 13, 2012It seems that on clicking datagridview column header, the column will be automatically sorted based on the column type. I have a column showing some numbers. If column type is string, it sorts "1","20","3" into "1","20","3". If column type is double, it sorts into "1","3","20" which is the result that I want. However, there might be some erros in the numbers and error messages(text) will show in the cell instead of numbers. So I cannot set the column type as double. I want to ignore these error messages and sort all the numbers. How can I do this?
Also, I need to add some background colors to different rows in datagridview. So in the column header click event, I call the bkgColor Sub to achieve this. My question is that how can I override the sorting method in this event?

Aug 4, 2009I have a datagrid that I am unable to change the width setting, it always reverts back to the original setting.
To change this setting:
1. select the datagrid view tasks
2. Edit columns bound column properties
3. Select Width property
4. Width property will always revert back to the original setting.

Datagrid Inside MdiChildren NOT Applying Custom Format?
May 24, 2012I have a datagridview (windows forms) that is inside an mdiChild form. The custom format is given by a "for" instance, something like this:

So, for every row in the grid that you find, if ther value in the "somenumber" =0 paint the whole row green. Problem is, if I put the form OUTSIDE of the MDIParent - just put frmMyform.show() in my btn that calls the form-, the grid WILL apply the format; If I call it like frmMyform.mdiparent = frmMdi, then frmMyform.show, the grid WILL NOT apply the format.

If i get the number of bytes, calculate the correct value (in kb, Mb or Gb) to show as you can see above and add the value on the cell, it works but when i try to sort the column it does not work. It get's the wrong order.How can i format a column on a grid view so the sorting works correctly?
