Apr 14, 2009I am working in VB 2008 and I have set up a datagridview to display rows of data which can then be selected. When I select the first row I get the error: Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection. When I select any other row the program executes as it should. From what I have learned so far is that the DataGridView has an index of -1 and that it counts the header row as part of the index which is the -1.When I select the first row through either DataGridView1_RowHeaderMouseClick or DataGridView1_CellContentClick the index is 0 for the first record. If the index is 0 I think it would fire off, but I have no idea what is happening behind the scenes. I can check the index, so when it is 0 and the code attempts to access the row, that is when I get the message.On an index number of 1 and up the code executes fine.So, is there a way to re-index the DataGridView, or is there a work around/fix for this issue?

Aug 13, 2011the program works fine but there is the possibility of a problem because this error message did pop up.I'm gathering my data bytes in an array --

(Then decipher the array).But Should I go further with this? Could the error be related to my serialport.read?What if there were NOT 20 bytes read into the array?I think this may be it? I should poll the array for 20 bytes before proceeding?Yes? -- (It's a given and that's standard procedure).No? -- Don't worry, they're going to be there (the read will try again if it has to?) It won't proceed without the 20 bytes?

Of the 3 columns, 2 are working perfectly fine, but whenever I try to filter the 3rd column, it gives me this error: (Also all of the column's have the ColumnType property set to: DataGridViewAutoFilterTextBoxColumn) "Index was out of range. Aug 12, 2011I have one user that is having a problem with my application, the error report shows an event type of clr203r and an index out of range exception. From what I've read this seems to have "something" to do with arrays or lists. (What that something is, so far, is beyond me or anything I've researched). I do have one array in my program -- myarray(13) as byte and I do have the syntax right as far as noting 20 elements in it. in my other bits of code.
I'm reading those bytes in the serial port, deciphering them and performing some actions. (to be vague). But just with what I've said, can anyone point me to a possible problem? Is the index out of range exception ALWAYS concerned with just arrays or lists? Or could it be something else?
