I have a backgroundworker that populates a dataset. My datagridview is bound to the dataset, and the datagridview refreshes once the bgworker is completed. Even after a refresh, the vertical scrollbar is missing, and clicking anywhere on the dgv does nothing. If I stretch the rightmost column to the right, the scrollbar appears and everything operates correctly.

When I try scrolling using the scroll bar, the datagridview is resized instead of scrolling.

I am working DataGridView in vb.net08.The intresting task is ,When i move the Horizontal Scrollbar in DataGridView from Left to Right ,the First two Columns should be stable and moving starts from 3rd Column.Means If i moved at end of the right side but the first two columns should be visible. I'm using a DataGridView in VB.Net in VS 2005. The issue is, when there are rows that exceed the width of the DataGridView, the horizontal scroll bar doesn't appear (the ScrollBars property is set to "Both"), but an ellipsis appears at the end of each row that is too long. I don't want the ellipsis, but the horizontal scroll bar. The vertical scroll bar works as expected when the number of rows exceed the height of the DataGridView.
I have tried setting numerous related properties (changing the AutoSizing property of the DataGridView, Resizability of the Row Template, made sure that no Columns were Frozen) to no avail.
So with the stock Textbox, I set the Scrollbars property to Vertical. This is great if the text in my box never changes; I can scroll up and down while the box sits still. If I'm running a background operation that logs output to the box though, the scrollbar resets itself to the top every time I append text to the box.
I know I can set the Textbox.Selection property (or use the Select method) to reposition the carat in the textbox, make note of that position in a variable, then append text, reset the carat, and use the ScrollToCarat method to reposition the scrollbar where it belongs. That's a really (ridiculously) long way around. Anybody know if there's another/better way of holding the scrollbar position, short of actually building a custom control (or using a Textbox and a separate Scrollbar)? It never hurts to try. In a worst case scenario, you'll learn from it.
I have a datagridview in my for that contain some infos like name of a file, date and hour but the vertical scrollbar doesn't work, the scroll doesn't move. Here's my code

To make this simple i have a multiple forms. On form 1 is a picturebox whose image property is set through a series of case statements as follows:

The issue is that whenever i navigate away from this form and then back to it the picturebox is glitched and will only appear as a white box with a red X through it. Im sure there is something simple i am missing or a refresh that needs to be done but at this point i am unaware of what to look for. I have checked the variables inside my case statements before i navigate away and after i navigate back and they appear to be correct at both points.
I am just down right confused right now... I made a slight modification to my games saving system, and it worked before this modification... I only changed "one" thing in the saving and loading of the save file system.
now it went from working when trying to verify the save data, to throwing this error when I enter the username of "test" and the password of "test...
there is not a save file for that combination of data, and prior to the save/load system edits, it would realize that, and throw a message box error that I made for that senario... but now, it does this when trying to load the human class. that save file that it is trying to load and verify that does not exist is supposed to be "test the human"

it is supposed to throw my message box stating that there is no file in that combination, and the edits that I made only write a description of what each line of code is in the game... I had also made a variable called "nulldata" that takes those lines of text, and keeps them out of the games loaded data, so for each string of text that I added, it is basically rendered useless upon the save file being loaded...if you enter valid save information, then it loads just fine... so I am just plain confused right now.

View 4 RepliesI am making use of a Label in a POPUP window. The POPUP works fine, but i would love to have a Vertical Scrollbar on my Label. I tried to use a Texbox instead, but the problem is that my text ends up in the wrong places. I set the Textbox to Multiline.
I am attaching an image to show the difference between the two.
1. Why is the Textbox doing this?
2. How can a get a scrollbar on a Lable?
Is it possible to change the scrollbars color?

I have a huge image which I loaded into a picturebox on a Child Form. The problem is that I can't seem to create scrollbars on the Child Form. So... I tried the Webbrowser control. The code I used:

View 1 RepliesI am trying to use a scrollbar to move forward and back through records in a datatable and to populat an entry in a field to indicate that individual records are selected.In short i want to represent a the sum of a specific field of those records selected. Of course being a scrollbar it has to work in reverse and unselect records when the user moves it backward.
The purpsoe of the scrollbars is that there will be five of them and they will represent years. The records on the other hand represent projects which have an output (say money saving). The idea being projects selected in year one then cant be selected in year two. I am planning to do this by assigning a value that indicates they are already allocated to the previous or other years scroll bar. I can set up a loop to go through the whole data set and do this for a year (and have), but i want to use scrollbars and make it interactive.
I've been using 'GetScrollInfo' to find the position of the scrollbar on a ListView and I can detect when it hits the bottom of the list. Is there anyway I can raise an event when the scrollbar changes? At the moment I have it working by using a timer but I would rather if possible create an event to fire my routine.

The ListBox seems capable to collect 100000 articles, but when i scroll through the list the scrollbar works till the 65500th listing (more or less) then it just jumps upwards.The weird thing is that I have two version of the same project which have different behaviors. One (tmp.zip) scroll fine with the scrollbar, but it doesn't with wheel mouse button.The other (listBox.zip), the scrollbar goes mad but mouse wheel seems ok

I realize if could set up a function which checks the ItemHeight * Nodes.Count, and compares this to the control height. However, this seems clumsy. I have a DataGridView where Cell_Validating is being done. I have a Cancel button on my form that allows the user to exit out of the DataGridView changes. The problem is that if a cell was currently flagged as in error, I cannot exit and remove columns from the DataGridView. I get the following error: Operation did not succeed because the program cannot commit or quit a cell value change. I am making a simple program.. i have a Form named frmmain that contained datagridview control named DataGridView1.. and another form named frminsert that contains two textbox controls named txtFname and txtLname and Button control named btinsert.. The problem I have is as follows:
Users have a low screen resolution (company policy) and so can't see the bottom of a particular form.
The bottom of the form has buttons that allow them to navigate between its' four pages so they need to be able to see them. This being the case I need to add a scrollbar to the form.
If I try to drag and drop a vscrollbar from the toolbox it just sits there at runtime (you can slide the button on the toolbar up and down but nothing happens regarding scrolling the page.
All the reading I have done seems to point to forms being given scrollbars in accordance to the AutoScroll, AutoScrollMargin and AutoscrollMinSize properties of the Form itself.
By setting these properties I can get scrollbars to appear in the IDE but they are not there at runtime.
I think I'm probably missing something really obvious here but, so far, have been unable to work out what it is.
So, in my vertical scrollbar, the maximum value is 16. In my application, I made a Label to track the scrollbar's value, just for testing purposes. I noticed that when I move the bar to the bottom, the value is 6. And when a [i]release[/i] the button (stop holding it with the mouse), the value becomes 7. Something similar goes when I move the button to the top: It is 1, and when I release the button, it becomes 0. That's a bit weird, but what mainly bugs me is why I cannot reach value 16?
