VS 2008 Exchange 2007 Global Address List

May 10, 2010

I am creating a small internal messaging system for my company mainly for phone messages to be passed on. These messages are going to be sent in a form of e-mail which I am perfectly good at coding but the bit I am having a problem is, is contacting the Exchange 2007 Server and pulling up a list of email addresses from the GAL.

Global Variables For Data Exchange Between Forms

Sep 14, 2011

Is it a good practice using global variables in a VB (.NET) application in order to exchange data between forms? As global variable I mean a public variable defined in a module and not a public member or property of a class. Moreover as my personal rule I never access a global variable from a class, but I pass the values to the class via functions.

Creating An Exchange 2007 Mailbox

Dec 21, 2010

Apologies if this is in the wrong sub-forum. My organization has a custom application for creating and managing AD users and exchange mailboxes. Under exchange 2003 this worked perfectly. Earlier this year we implemented exchange 2007. Some alterations were made to the code to keep it running - and successfully creating mailboxes. This worked up until we removed the last exchange 2003 server.

Validate Email Address On Exchange Server?

Nov 9, 2010

I'm allowing users to manage a distribution list stored in a database. Users are only allowed to enter emails that are @mydomain.com. A web based application then takes the distribution list and sends emails. I'd like to validate that the email is valid before sending an email from the application.

To send an email I'm using this code:

Dim SendTo As String = "ThisIsNotARealEmailAddress@mydomain.com"
Dim SentFrom As String = "me@mydomain.com"
Dim MessageBody As String = "blah blah blah"

[Code]....

Is there anyway to validate the email when the email address is added to the database, instead of a try catch block when sending the email?

I am trying to search my GAL, as my GAL contains over 300k names its not ideal to load the complete list. Now, I found some code on MSDN which allows me to read the GAL, but I can figure out how to search. I would need to use a similar to the SQL LIKE% as there multipul exchange users with the same surname.

MSDN Code.

Dim itemx As ListViewItem
' Create an Outlook application.
Dim oApp As Outlook._Application = New Outlook.Application()

VS 2008 Connecting To A Sharepoint List Linked Table In Access 2007

Apr 30, 2011

First timer here, I love the site!

Running:

- VS 2008
- Sharepoint 3.0
- Access 2007
- Windows Vista (The machine I'm developing it from)

History: (Do excuse me if I don't reference different methods I've taken so far correctly, I'm still learning!) I am building some search software for a law firm that I work for in Australia. It's all coming along really well, but I seem to have hit a snag getting data out of sharepoint lists and into my project!

I first attempted to add a web reference to sharepoint and after a while was able to pull in all of the data from the lists, fantastic!(OR NOT!). The issue then was when I attempted to load it up into an array using XMLNodes, whilst it loaded up fine and I could see all the data, if there was a null value in one of the columns, it wouldn't pull that null value across, therefore, I couldn't really use the data...

VS 2010 : Send Email To A Exchange Distribution List?

Dec 23, 2011

I tried to put just the name of the in the .To but that didn't work. Could someone please point me in the direction or show me how to do it?EDIT: My Code is Below...

Dim Subject as String = "Services for " & date.today.string
Dim Body as String = strHTML (defined elsewhere on form)
Dim oApp as Outlook._Application

[code]....

I didn't copy or paste as the code is on a second computer and that one isn't network connected. I typed it in, so there may be a typo or two. When this code is executed, nothing is sent.

VS 2008 : Use The DHCP API To Retrieve A Computer's MAC Address When Given The IP Address?

Nov 27, 2009

I'm trying to use the DHCP API (using the references on pinvoke.net) to retrieve a computer's MAC address when given the IP address but I can't get the code to work. I've run all the C# code on pinvoke.net through the C#-to-VB converter but I'm stuck now.

Here's what I have so far. The value of res is always 5 (should be 0). Thing is, I can't find any documentation on what the return codes mean

vb
Private Sub GetMACDim client As String = "1.1.1.1" Dim server As String = "0.0.0.0" Dim si As New NativeMethods.DHCP_SEARCH_INFO si.SearchType = NativeMethods.DHCP_SEARCH_INFO_TYPE.DhcpClientIpAddress si.ClientIpAddress = Convert.ToUInt32(StringIPAddressToUint32(client)) Dim res As UInteger Dim oInfo As IntPtr

Here is a sub which shows how do i get data from OPC server.[code]but nothing happened when i opened form2, nor on change of data in OPC server (i wrote the code that on form2 load all values are shown in msgbox, message box did not show up).

Because of this I think that I have to modify the Windows Search to get the unread mails too?!So is it possible to modify the Windows Search with C#/VB.Net?

[2008] How Can Two Independent .NET Application Can Exchange Data

Jan 28, 2009

I wanted to know how can two independent .NET application can exchange data. Something like DDE which was there in older versions. My purpose is to have an upgrade application (which is a seperate .net program) and my main application. Now I wanted to know that when my upgrade app runs it should be able to confirm that my main application is not running. How can I achieve this ? I know thru process name I can find out if my main program is running or not but thats risky if there is another program with the same name. Thus I wanted a way whereby my independant .net program (upgrade app) is able to determine if my another application (main app) is running or not.

VS 2008 - Global Variables?

Apr 4, 2009

I have this little code here in vb 2008, I created a flag var to see if the user has clicked the button "enter" so the flag would be set to true. If its true then the game would begin...

I have a label that says "Press enter to Play", and if the user presses play the flag is true, the label visible is set to false. I have the keydown event to check if the enter button has been pressed, i checked if it works and it does, but the var of the flag is always false in my other subs...

Thats the thing with vb i dont understand is when you make a public variable, and when you change the value of the var in a sub, it doesnt change globally.

Word 2007 Adding Adding Values To Combo List Box

Jun 7, 2011

I am trying to create a simple Word doc that when the user presses the button it takes the information in the boxes and tosses it into a template style paragraph. But my issue is that I have two combo list boxes as seen in the picture. I want to have two values in the drop down list as seen in the labels next to them but for the life of me I can't figure out how to do this in Word 2007. In Visual Studio this is much easier but I am work and need to snap this out for the folks at work. Is there an option that I can choose in the properties where I type in the values for each drop down or do I have to add them in at run time?
