VS 2008 Declare A List(of T) (or List(of <anonymous Type>))?
Jan 7, 2010Ok i'm trying to declare a global list of type T (or is it <anonymous type>) i declare it in a module with something like Friend query As New List(of {whatever type i try}) the app takes some xml and parses it into a list but i need this list available to other classes and methods within the app, everything i have tried fails resulting in an error like Value of type 'System.Collections.Generic.List(Of <anonymous type>)' cannot be converted to 'System.Collections.Generic.List(Of {whatever type i try})'.
What would be the correct way to declare a list of this type? is there another way i could do this?
VS 2008 Getting Server Name And Type From Active Directory?
Aug 13, 2009I have done VBscripting the past and I have actually made this work in a script however I am trying to convert it to VB for the client so that it has a nicer interface and basically is a better program. There are several parts to this program but I am stuck on this part right now. I am attempting to get a list of all servers from Active Directory and then sort them by type. The program will run however it will not produce any results. Its just an empty file. I figured the problem was with my filtering but I just don't understand why this will not work. I have written it in two different ways and get the same result each time.

May 18, 2009I'm trying to make a program that will list all the sub-directories in a directory then list all the files in a sub directory in another listbox when you select a directory from the first listbox, what I am stuck on is listing the folders.

Oct 25, 2010I am quite new to the VB scene, and am still quite confused by the variety of options presented as far as choosing the correct project type.I have been coding for roughly 4 years now and consider myself still to be a beginner. My past experiences include, hmtl, C++, vba, assembly, and a few others which I'm sure currently escape me.However, VB is a whole new boat and I'm just not sure where to get started with what I want to do.I've Googled the internet, went through the MSDN, and even did some tutorials.My current dilemma is I wish to make a program that will do a the following: Allow a User to download a set of data from an embedded web page.Open an excel file Download more data from a different web page.Open another excel document..I'm sure this is probably quite simple to do (read: I hope...). Jun 21, 2011I recently downloaded VB 2010 Express so i am quite new to the language, but i have worked with dark basic, which seems to b very similar.Anyway, my problem is that i cannot seem to correctly set out my array of a custom type/class. i am trying to create two arrays, one of available entities and another of selected entities of which the user selects the entities to be dealt with in irrelevant ways. i have creates a button (called test) which adds some entities to the available list and all the entities come back the same value but they shouldnt be as you'll c in the code. i have run the step into command a found that "available.item(#).Name = " will change all of the entity's names.As of current i am working with lists as the array kept asking for a 'new' statement but i couldnt figure out where to put it.[code]
